The forest is located a bit south of the capital. It is vast and full of life. The trees are tall and green. If not careful, one could easily get lost for days, if not forever. It is rumored that these trees grew on the remains of an ancient battle and that the souls of those who died wander the woods. Usually if someone needs to travel beyond them, they hire someone who has been through or just go around.

Akane sits alone in the mess of roots with a small fire beside her and her pack. There is a small metal container slowly boiling water in the fire, the minor decorations on its side long lost under the soot. Her eyes are constantly scanning the forest for any sort of movement. She had heard rumor of this place being trouble to a lone traveler, but ever confident she took to the challenge without a second thought. The trip around the forest would have added a few days to her trip and that wasn't an appealing choice. Besides by her calculations she should be about half way through by this point. I should make Peron by tomorrow night if everything goes well.

Raidyn walks thru the forest towards Peron with his sister Tyera on an errand from their mother to pick up some rare herbs and supplies not able to be produced in their village. They have been thru the forest many times before on supply runs and Raidyn in particular to go to the library in Peron to study many different things. They know the tricks of the forest and respect it, and in return the forest respects and protects them. Its will unknown to many who don't know how to listen, but Raidyn knows there are other things in the forest that do not obey its will and can cause many a traveler to become "hindered" or lost or even killed and added to the rest of the spirits wandering the forest. He isn't afraid though he and his sister are more than capable of defending themselves anyway, if they have to, and they have before, wolves thinking they are easy prey, bandits, ghosts of an ancient army thinking they were the enemy, and occasionally the vicious plant that gets hungry for flesh. They have also saved many a lost merchant or traveler they have stumbled upon leading them back to Peron safely. Today though was like any other normal run thru the forest peaceful and tranquil like most other times. The forest is nice today isn't it Tyera, it's nice that we haven't come across anyone yet, not that I don't like helping people, but it is nice just to have to worry about ourselves for once.

Yeah, but I kind of like running into people. It makes the trip much more interesting.
Tyera laughed and adjusted her bow, which she had wrapped across her body. She didn't really mind the runs to Peron as it got her out of the village for a while. Her brother would go to the library like he always did and she would roam the streets until he was finished. Tyera didn't mind the books that Raidyn would pour over in the library, but she found the city itself much more entertaining. Everything from the shops to the people fascinated her.
Don't you find it a bit weird though that we haven't came across anyone? Usually by now we have passed by a person or two.
She looked a little worried at the thought of someone being lost in the forest.

As soon as Akane hears the others voices her right hand hits the ground palm down and twists. The earth quickly swallows up her fire and any further smoke from it. One hand takes her bag, the other finds her sword hilt and she springs upward into the tree branches to get a better vantage point. She slows her breathing and listens as she scans for where the voices are coming from. In seconds however she finds there is a more immediate problem, in her concentration to find the others in the forest, a vine had taken advantage of her distraction and attached itself to her leg, running roots actually into her skin. She yelps and bails from her perch immediately but the 'friendly' foliage had a better grip on her than she thought. The arch of her jump was compromised along with her balance and her landing is less than graceful. She gathers herself after a second rubbing the side of her calf where the tree had gotten her It's numb... I really doubt that's a good sign...

I agree, it's kinda strange not see anyone, and it does make the trip more interesting...
It is then he hears a yelp off in the distance and looks to Tyera.
Well this trip just go more interesting.
He dashes off ahead of Tyera and finds a woman rubbing her calf a short distance away.
Hey are you alright?
This forest is dangerous if you travel alone. My name is Raidyn and my sister Tyera will be here in a second.

Finally, Tyera said to herself as her brother went running off.
She follows Raidyn and takes her bow off, getting it ready just in case there was trouble. She didn't have to travel far to see Raidyn standing over a woman. She appeared to be hurt, but Tyera didn't take any chances and kept her bow in her hand.
I'm Tyera, Tyera said with a chuckle just as Raidyn finished saying she would be there in a second. Is she alright? Tyera asks, looking to her brother. The woman did appear hurt, but in the back of Tyera's mind there was a small voice saying it could be a ruse.
Her eyes looked all around them for signs of possible bandits or creatures. She could not see a hint of movement, even in the trees. No wind was blowing, which was a little unsettling to Tyera.

Akane looks at the two, trying not to show her concern, but the question bears asking "I think I'm ok, but my leg's going numb, one of the trees got a little too personal." She holds out her hand to show what had happened to her leg "I'm not sure what's wrong. Any thoughts?" She was hoping it was a toxin of some sort. If that was the case she knew she could do something then, but if it was something else she could be in trouble.

Hmm...
Raidyn crouches down next to the woman's wound and places his hands around the punctures.
Hold still this may hurt.
Warmth flows into the woman's leg and 3 little roots exit the wound and quickly bury themselves in the ground next to them. Then suddenly the woman feels like she has been dunked in ice water for a split second and all the damage is healed and he removes his hands standing up and offering to help up her as well if she needs it.
There all better, thankfully those Heartsong roots didn't make it far, most people die from that in this forest not realizing what happened. Oh right almost forgot.
Raidyn suddenly pokes the woman's forehead and a symbol appears that looks like a tree then disappears.
And that will prevent the plants from attacking you for about a week, as long as you don't hurt them maliciously, using dead wood for a fire and such is fine it understands the need for animals to stay warm and such also you may pick herbs and food items if you need to. Really just don't hurt the trees and it will stay on you for the duration, you will know when it wears off also.

Tyera closes her eyes and pinches the bridge of her nose as Raidyn pokes the woman's head.
Raid, it's impolite to poke people in the head without warning them first.
Sensing that there was no immediate threat, Tyera replaced her bow so it crossed her body. She held a hand out to help the young woman up.
Don't listen to him. You probably wouldn't have died in the forest. You look like you could handle yourself for a few minutes anyways. Tyera grinned. What's your name and where are you headed?

As long as she doesn't do anything hostile to the tree? That tree is lucky she doesn't bury it alive... She takes the offered hand up and brushes herself off "My name's Akane and I'm on my way to the Capitol." She looks to Raidyn and then his sister "I can't be too mad at him, if that symbol will keep the plant life at bay I'm all for it. Normally I'm more on my guard but it's not an every day occurrence that plants try to make me their food... I always thought they waited at least until you were dead." She frowns a little before sighing "Would it be safe to assume you two are heading the same way?"

Raidyn glares at Tyera.
Well I know it is impolite to poke people without warning, but the reason I didn't warn her is because she looks capable and might have attacked me so surprising someone was the more safe alternative. Also Heartsong will kill someone eventually if not found soon enough, furthermore if I didn't catch it right after it burrowed into her it would have been more difficult to remove.
Raidyn takes a deep breath.
Not to mention we are protected from the forest already, and that there are more dangerous things in here than just the plants.
After his rant Raidyn sighs and turns to Akane.
I'm sorry about all that and the poking thing. It is nice to meet you Akane, and yes we are heading to Peron for some supplies for our village. My sister still hasn't realized that without the forest's protection this place is very dangerous even to skilled travelers.

Tyera rolls her eyes at her brother.
We may now all be protected from the forest, brother, but I suggest we move on. I'd rather not be in the forest after the sun goes down, protected or not.
She turns her attention to Akane. A pleasure to meet you Akane. Come, we can escort you to Peron. Though I doubt you need an escort. I'm sure you can handle yourself. What business do you have in the capital anyways? she asks, brushing a stray piece of hair from her eyes. She silently swore she was going to shave her head because of how unruly her hair seemed to be. And do you have lodgings for the night there? If not, Raid and I can tell you some of the less seedier places to stay.

Akane shrugs "Truthfully I don't have any business at all, I'm just traveling... alot right now. This was the next major city and the next place for me to restock and regain my bearings. As such I don't have lodgings arranged right now either, but I don't have much coin either to spend on a room. Another night under the stars really wouldn't be an issue." She looks over to Raidyn "I'm guessing that you are among if not THE healer for your town correct?"

Not the only one no, but the best with my abilities yes. There are others in the village that can heal as well as I can, but they need herbs and other supplementary items to do so. I have been trying to teach others in our village how to heal like I do, but for some reason they can't. It has really stumped me.
Raidyn scratches the back of his head then looks up at the sky and notices that the daylight is slowly fading.
Well I suggest we get going and try to get out of the forest at least before nightfall. I really don't want to stumble across a wild creature in the dark. It would be dangerous, not to mention annoying, if we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by bandits or something worse also.
Raidyn leans on his staff a bit.
Just traveling though? That must be interesting. Where are you from if you don't mind me asking? I haven't seen a traveler dressed like you before. Well at least not in the forest. Sometimes in the market maybe, but never talked with them. I usually try to stay away from dangerous looking people as much as possible. Oh, unless they need help of course.
