Although she refused to let it show, Euria struggled immensely with not having her brothers around at all time; Nani being placed in a different house altogether had jarred her more than she expected. As triplets, there something just felt fundamentally wrong about the fact that they had been separated, though a part of her acknowledged they couldn't possibly spend every waking moment together.
Even if she secretly wished that that was possible.
Realizing that it was high time to start building up her own sense of independence, Euria had decided that it would be a lovely day to tour the academy grounds by herself. In theory it wasn't a bad idea--it would was a wise idea to get accustomed to her surroundings--but the theory wasn't the problem here--the problem was that Euria was the type who loved to chatter with (or at) people and enjoyed living an active, high-pace life. Needless to say, a slow, leisurely walk by herself did not fit into her concept of "fun", and only a meager five minutes had elapsed on her walk before the little freshling suddenly came to a halt and threw her arms up in the air.
"This is boring!" Euria declared loudly, her tail whipping behind her, "I want someone to talk to--someone to play with! Being by myself is no fun at all!"

Eclair was not usually a shy person, yet here she was, nervously tapping her fingers together as she squeezed past students and meandered down the hall with a sporadic wiggle in her tail. It wasn't easy being a new student, absolutely. However, what was even worse was being a Bakeneko, which meant it wasn't just the academy that left her stomach twisting and heart fluttering. The entire world did. It hadn't been that long since the Swirling Storms had ceased it's endless sandstorm, leaving the village it had trapped suddenly defenseless against a world they never even imagined could have existed. Naga and Bakeneko were thrust, violently, into a world with advanced technology and.... well, a lot more turf than they could ever imagine. Not only that, but there existed a world called Above, too.
To put it frankly, the world was terrifying for most.
Eclair, normally a bubbly and free spirit, was reduced into a nervous mush when her parents announced their decision to send her to the academy. There had been excuses; they didn't want her growing up as confused and incompetent as they were. But, like any young child would, Eclair assumed it was just an attempt to send her far away. Thrust at the academy full-speed, Eclair barely got a chance to ask for names before she was given a single dorm (they had been kind enough to let her room by herself until she settled) and a pat on the back.
Now, here she was, wandering down the halls with a pout firmly on her face. No one had spoken to her since her arrival. People were far too busy with the festival and flirting with hopeful partners. A small, lost kitten was far from their list of who they considered interesting. So, when she heard a young voice let out a loud declaration of loneliness she immediately whipped around, spotting a..... an..... that was an Imp, right?
"What about me?" Came a hopeful mewl as, with a wag of her tail, the little Neko looked hopefully at the young Imp.

The sudden voice made her jump in surprise, her little shoulders tensing and her tail puffing out. Euria hadn’t exactly expected anyone to respond to her, even though it should have come as no surprise considering how loud her declaration had been. She spun around to face the other freshling, eyes going wide when she took in her appearance. Those ears and that tail—how unique! How cute! Euria couldn’t recall having ever seen those features before; she knew that they were characteristics of Bakeneko, but this was her first time encountering someone from that particular race up close.
The hopeful note in the other girl’s voice did not go unnoticed. Propping her hands up on her hips, Euria glanced at her from top to bottom in a scrutinizing fashion, brows crinkled. After a few seconds of this, her mouth suddenly curled into a friendly smile and she threw her arms up in the air again, this time in elation rather than frustration. ”Of course! You wanna play? We can be friends!”
Aah, how easy it was for freshlings. Whereas adults became far more selective about who they called their friends and spent time getting to know one another first, children clearly had no such inclinations—they just jumped straight from strangers to friends.
Or at least, Euria clearly did. Her sense of “stranger danger” was non-existent, but at least she was talking to someone her age rather than someone much older.

Eclair, unlike most children, didn't flinch back as she was observed, instead a slight vanity showing as she puffed herself up and flicked her tail to fully be examined. Yes. She was a Bakeneko. Was that bad? Good? Neither? She took this moment to further her view of the other. Hey, they were both completely new to one another, why not start the staring?
To her, Imps were strange. Not in a bad way, of course! Just, coming from a place where you either had split tails or a long, shiny lower-half, seeing someone almost completely covered in a vast amount of fur left her speechless. Wasn't it hot? Not like there weren't fluffy Bakeneko, of course, but the Imp had far more going on than any of them ever did. How did they handle summer? Did they shed, maybe, to help with the heat?
Movement caught her eye off the Imp's tail, slit eyes flicking up to lock on the others face, watching their eyes glance them over before, thankfully, a smile greeted their expression, lighting Eclair's own in response.
"Yes!" She squeaked back, forgetting the rules her parents had laid out; get to know someone before you befriend them. Evaluate if they'd hurt you or not. Consider the benefits and cons. No, that was nonsense. This Imp was, obviously, perfect friend material.
"I'm Eclair! I just moved here!" She announced, hand flying out for a shake as manners returned to her, briefly. Her tail wagged sporadically behind her, hinting at the absolute elation she held right this second for meeting someone not only her age, but also interested in her.

She grasped the offered hand without a hint of hesitation, giving it a firm squeeze and a few pumps, just as she had seen adults do in the past. She might have shaken Eclair's hand a few times more than what was necessary, but she either didn't realize it or simply didn't care. Her own tail mimicked her new friend's, swishing back and forth with a vigor.
"Nice to meet you, Eclair! Your name sounds tasty." Awkward as that was, it was clearly meant to be a compliment from the little imp. Clearing her throat, Euria stood up a little straighter and gestured to herself.
"My name is Euria! I live with my daddy and my two brothers--we're triplets! Do you have any siblings? What house are you in? Do you like spicy food?" Now that they were friends, she figured that it was a good time to get to know one another so that they could strive to become even better friends. Fortunately, she only managed to fire out three consecutive questions before realizing that she should probably allow some time for Eclair to actually answer. Large ears perking up, she clasped her hands together and stood surprisingly politely, brown eyes wide and expectant as she waited for her to answer.

Eclair firmly tried to follow the shaking motion, not minding one bit if the handshake went a bit longer than the usual norm. When their hands broke apart she wiggled her tail even faster, body swaying in rhythm. Her first friend! Well, first friend outside of her home!
"Does it? I wonder what it'd taste like..." She trailed off as she debated the impossibility of the flavor of her name. Euria, huh? That sounded bold, full of spices and herbs she probably hadn't tasted before. Her ears wiggled at the questions, a pout forming briefly as she tried to remember what house she was in..... AH! Eldritch! Right!
"Mommy and daddy had just me! I'm in Eldritch-" Eldritch was said deliberately as she attempted to sound the word out. "I love spicy food! I prefer sweets, but back home we have a lot of spicy food!!" Her pink eyes had widened as she seemed to, rapidly, warm up to the conversation.
"You're triplets?" The very thought seemed to be the most exciting thing she ever heard! "Do you look the same? Is that cool? That sounds cool!"

The thoughtful response to Euria's compliment horrified her, only because the implication was that the other girl had never had an actual eclair before. She made a mental note to amend this one day because, well, they were friends now, and friends didn't let friends live without the joy of knowing junk food.
It was disappointing to learn that they weren't in the same house, but that was okay; it didn't matter too much when it came down to it. The fact that she felt disappointed at all was a testament of how fond Euria had already grown of Eclair, but the realization that the bakeneko also enjoyed spicy foods really cemented the newfound friendship. "I love sweets too! But ooooh, really?! The place you come from sounds great!" She clutched her hands to her chest and went starry-eyed, her mind springing to unrealistic thoughts of pepper-filled everything. Red hot soup, red hot bread, red hot ice cream...
She shook the thought out of her head, her ears flopping from the rapid motion. Squaring her shoulders, Euria puffed out her chest as she soaked in her friend's awe. "Yes, triplets! We don't look exactly the same, but we do all look very, very similar!" She reached around to grasp her fluffy tail and gave it a shake.
"Like all three of us have this cool tail! Feel how soft it is!"
