~~~Johann's Time in the City~~~
- A few days after the ordeal completed within the forest Johann found himself casually exploring the city, after all if he were to be residing there for several years he may as well get to know the place. In particular he was of course looking for any hot spots which could lend to alleviating boredom such as crowded cafes and the like for his shenanigans and tomfoolery. However as he walked through the winding streets he found himself in a somewhat expected back alley completely devoid of the low-lives which one would come to expect in such an environment. In fact, while it was rather quiet there were a few people who could be seen walking the streets with complete assurance as if suggesting it were indeed a safe to walk during the day or even the latest hours of the night. At least by what he perceived anyhow.
His curiosity arose, why exactly do people seem to feel this way around this area, was it protected perhaps? A righteous gang, maybe even a few valiant citizens could roam the streets regularly, but what of this supposed White Fang which grasped the city in some regions. No few citizens or even a regular gang could offer such assurance as this, especially with a few well-to-do dust stores established upon the walk. As a means to determine this almost abnormal phenomena Johann continued to follow the road until he came upon a rather large out of place structure of a much more roman-esk design. It had a few low walls which surrounded a grassy courtyard and a fountain as the centerpiece, flowers lining the stone path and a very welcoming appearance for any who approached.
Within the confines of the courtyard there were several children of varying ages, human and faunus alike playing together as if it didn’t matter. Johann smirked as some of the older ones played tricks on the younger, all in good fun surprisingly no fights to be had betwixt them. At least presently anyhow, yet another entity caught his eye. A sudden swishing movement just within his peripheral vision caused Johann to look up and to the side to see a young Cat faunus sitting on his feet at the top of a lamp post. Aside from the gravity defying position, the tail clearly helping in those regards, the boy’s boots were the biggest indicator. This boy was either a hunter, or a potential threat. While Johann typically didn’t bother to get involved, these were children and even he couldn’t stand by if he believed a child was in danger. Yet he didn’t act, as the faunus boy didn’t seem particularly threatening. Instead he sat there bobbing side to side muttering "♫It's the Felis fishy song, F-f-felis fishy song nya~.♫"
Yet as Johann was about to make his presence known he watched as the boy suddenly moved down into a pouncing position from his vantage point on the lamppost. Without a sound the person launched off with great speed and careened into one of the younger children, tumbling with them several times over. Johann swiftly dashed over extending his staff and cursing his inaction as he readied to attack the cat yet as he neared he heard laughing emitting from the ball which was the cat boy. The Faunus unfurled from his tackle ball and in his arms he was hugging a little girl who was laughing hysterically. "BIG BROTHER FELIS IS HOME!" The kid cried out as she “struggled” in Felis’ arms. Felis bore a toothy grin as he kipped up onto his feet and set the kid down. "You’re it!" "We’re not playing tag anymore! That was last time!" The girl retorted causing Felis’ ears to flatten as he huffed out. "No fun. Where’s Mama?" He asked as his gaze slowly moved up and fell upon Johann who stood there weapon in hand and in a relaxed yet clearly had been aggressive posture.
While the eldest children, those who were of his age didn’t much care for Felis, the youngest did as they found him to be just another large child in which they could play with. However, for everything he’d been through Felis would always put the children’s safety before his own, and now there stood someone whom he wasn’t certain posed a threat to them. “Go inside.” Felis stated, eyes narrowing as he suddenly dashed at Johann without any pretext and came in with a sweeping kick which Johann narrowly avoided. "HEY! Watch it!" Johann demanded as he proceeded to launch ice projectiles at Felis who savagely and accurately kicked them away causing them to shatter upon impact. The children all ran inside, to avoid the fight whilst also informing their caretaker what was going on outside.
One attack after another, Johann could hardly keep up, using his dominion over ice to slow Felis down but each wall he manifested was no match for boots which could deflect all force, doubling even the most basic of kick strength. However he was able to keep Felis at bay, though whenever he created a vision obstructing snowfall he found it blown away by Felis’ scarf. What's more it almost felt as if Felis were toying with him as his attacks became steadily more aggressive and difficult to counter or avoid. He managed to get his hand upon Felis for a moment, flash freezing him and allowing a moment of rest, however soon the ice began to melt as the boosters within Titan Step engaged. "You have to be kidding me! What the hell is up with this guy!?" Johann stated as he spun his staff around preparing to launch a more powerful attack just as Felis broke free of the ice.
However neither of them had time to finish their attack as they found themselves interrupted by an elderly woman who seemed to appear out of nowhere. "What’s all this?" She stated, glancing at Felis causing him to stop dead in his tracks ears flat to his head. "H-he was going to attack the kids…" "No I wasn’t!” Johann retorted immediately though he too cowered slightly when the woman’s gaze fell upon him as well. "Your weapon was drawn and he perceived it as an attack, am I correct?" She said, seemingly already understanding of the situation. "Y-yes ma’am." She turned her gaze back upon Felis and pointed at him. "What have I told you about that you lil brat!? Try using your head once in a while hmm?" She batted Felis over the head several times causing Johann to smirk as he watched his would be attacker be berated before his very eyes however he was quickly silenced by the elderly woman. "You! you should have explained rather than actively fighting him!" She followed suit doing the very same to him despite not even knowing him. "Seriously, boys are all alike, act first; think later… Now apologize and properly introduce yourselves. Then come inside, we're having lunch." With that she turned and proceeded back inside leaving the two somewhat bewildered as they slowly turned to look at each other.
"That your mother?" "Sorta, but yea…" "Terrifying." "You don't know the half of it..." Felis stated with a shiver when he remembered a time when someone tried to force their way into the orphanage with the intent of doing harm to the children. It didn't end well as she lifted one clean off the ground with one arm and threw him through the wall with incredible ease, while the other she crushed the hand of when she caught his punch. Of course he chocked that up to faulty memory as the following day there was no damage to the wall and he was led to believe he must have been dreaming, again. The two remained silent for a few moments before they both started snickering, soon laughing wholeheartedly. Once they’d calmed down Johann approached Felis and extended his hand towards him. "Look, sorry about earlier, I should have tried to explain. I’m Johann, a student at the academy." Felis shook his head as he fiddled with his tail. "No she’s right I always do that…I attacked the mailman when I was younger because I thought his bag was a bomb… I smelled dust! Turns out it was a delivery for the store down the road…" He sighed before he took Johann’s hand, immediately his hair stood on end and his tail puffed up. "COLD!" Johann laughed, quite amused by Felis’ reaction. "Yeah my semblance manifested this way, so your name or going to leave me hangin'?" "OH! I’m Felis sorry for attacking you..." After several moments of general banter the two headed inside to have lunch with the children. Johann leaving after an hour or two to continue his escapades within the city but would remember the orphanage, even if he’d never gotten his answer to how the area was so peaceful at least he was entertained.
