Drury had been draging his feet, he knew he should get it over with but instead he was finding any excuse not to face Uongo. To be honest Drury was pretty sure that the adult lion likely would have been able to figure it out from himself and Drury probably wasn't telling him anything he didn't already know. But still there was something uncomfortabel about telling your brother's son... your nephew that you were dating.. mated even to his mom.
Taking a deep breath Drury headed towards Uongo. Drury knew that he wanted cubs with Kip and there was now way that she would let that happen until her son knew what they were to each other.

Now that his last litter was fully grown Uongo felt his attention focusing more fully on his mother. Kipenzi had been a great help to them, and so had she been to his Uncle. Uongo knew that his cousin required a lot of work, so it hadn't been unusual at first to see his mother traipsing off to help, but lately it had become less about his cousin and more about Drury.
It wasn't a particularly....comfortable idea for him. Uongo had tried to dissuade himself from thinking about it, at least until his daughter had said something along the lines of Are Uncle Drury and Grandma mates? which made it impossible to ignore. Now that he saw said lion on his way, Uongo had no choice but to face this conversation head on. "Hello...Uncle."

Drury offered Uongo a kind smile. It wasn't too long ago that they had had a conversation in the pride where Uongo had talked to Drury about his different mate arrangement and had encouraged Drury to get out of his shell and find a mate himself.
"Good afternoon Uongo, how are you today/" Drury asked his nephew trying to delay the inevitable topic of being in love with his mom. He was hoping Uongo would be having a good day.

"I'm doing well. Would you walk with me? I would like to patrol the area." It was a bit of a routine for the younger male. He'd been a Guardian in their old pride, and habits were hard to break. Without waiting to see if the other would agree he started to walk, occasionally drifting his gaze over to the other. "Is there anything you want to talk about? Particularly about my mother?" The way he spoke was as if he were wheedling information out of a wayward cub. In some respects it was the same. "Or the time you spend together?"

Drury nodded as he fell instep beiside the younger male. He took a deep breath trying his best to find the words that he needed to say. To his shock though before he could say anything Uongo begane askign questions.
For the moment Drury was thankful for the dark pelt that hid the blood that was rushing to his cheeks. "I uh well umm." he sounded like a stumbling buffoon. "I am in love withe her." he finally blurted out. It wasn't the way that he had wanted to say it but in the end it was the truth. He hoped Uongo would be happy for his mother.

It wasn't hard to tell that he had shocked the older man, and Uongo fully intended on using that to his advantage. "Come on, out with it." While his voice wasn't rude, it was stern, as if the stuttering didn't appeal to him at all. In truth it was beyond amusing.
Uongo slowed to a pause and looked at his Uncle. "You're in love with her?" He questioned, dramatically raising his brow, voice cool and clipped. "And how does she feel about this? Does your relation to my father not bother her at all?" He highly doubted that it would, since they themselves weren't related, but Uongo liked to prod.

Drury take a breath his confidence raising just a little bit, he loved Kip and it felt amazing to be pronouncing it out loud. "She loves me back." he said no stuttering this time but his voice was still soft and quiet. He felt like a cub being questioned by his father.
"We talked about my brother... " Drury said trailing off for a moment. "Our family was a hard one a difficult one, we have all been through a lot and when it comes down to it your mother and I are able to support each other in ways any other mate for us would be able to be." Drury went quiet his throughts drifting off to his mother. There had been so much depression in the family after they lost the wonderful female that he got to call mom, she had also raised Kip. They understood the lost each other felt in a way that no one else could.
"I know that you worry after her and want to protect her. But I can honestly say I have never cared this much for someone who wasn't my child." It had helped a great deal that Kip had helped Drury deal with the injuries that Ummi had suffered. They had worked together building each other stronger.

Uongo led the way around a large outcropping of stone, kicking out a small pebbled into an area he couldn’t automatically see. When nothing moved he continued. “Father was never the same after grandmother passed.” He himself didn’t remember much. He’d been young then, a juvenile, when his home had caught fire. His twin had taken on a lot of lung damage, and his grandmother had perished from it. Those days were dark, but ultimately Uongo had grown in the mountains. The horrors of those days hadn’t clung to him as they had the adults.
He believed that Drury had good intentions, and that he would do everything in his power to keep Kipenzi safe. Uongo supposed it was cubbish to hold onto her anymore after that. “When the pride scattered, my siblings fled, younger and older alike. Mother let them go, told them to be safe, but I was the only one to see that she wanted them to stay.” Uongo turned to face his Uncle, “Don’t leave her, Drury. So long as you do right by her I’ll treat you well, but if you abandon my mother I will hunt you down and use your fur as a pelt. Understand?”

Drury smiled warmly at his nephew, the words were meant to intimidate him but all Drury felt was love for his nephew and he was grateful that Uongo had stuck by his mother so closely. "She would not have made it to where she is today without you Uongo." Drury said warmly. Suddenly that male was no longer studdering over his words. He had come to realize he had Uongo had the same goal at heart protecting and loving Kip.
"I can promise you that I will be at her side till the day I die." Drury said a warm smile spreading across is lips. He had never felt so strongly for another before. It was good to have someone you cared this much about.
Desiding to lighten the mood Drury gave the younger lion a little shoulder bump. "Hey how would you feel about some younger siblings." he asked, deciding not to point out that his siblings would also be his cousins... it was going to be a weird family dynamic.

“That’s all I ask for.” So long as his mother had a loving, supportive mate then he didn’t much care who it was. That it was someone who echoed her same suffering just meant that the Gods had been watching over these two.
Uongo snorted and bumped back against Drury, “Please don’t ask me that. I don’t mind to imagine you two being that close.” He thought about tossing in how Drury felt about more grand-cubs, or would they be great-nephews/nieces? Uongo wasn’t even going to begin to wrap his mind around that one. “Come on, let’s get this patrol over with so we can get back to our mates.”
It was going to take some adjustment, but he wasn’t against it, not if it meant that his mother would be happy.
