Nobu enters the hospital and looks around. After a quick check up and assessment of his physical abilities he decides that it would be best to look into their healing classes. After all, one should know at least a little about how to take care of minor emergencies. So, he looks over the class registry list and decides on the easiest one to start with: First Aid. A simple list of requirements is given, along with a text book and the class room number. It was located in the west wing of the building on the first floor. Appropriately enough, it is room 101. "Heh." He opens the door and takes a seat among the students. It is not as crowded as he had been expecting. After all, with classes being so affordable for beginners and lacking in any really expensive required materials, he really had been expecting a higher number of people to be attending. No matter. The lecturing doctor stands before the class with his medical assistant and several pieces of simulation equipment. The lecture itself is about a couple hours per day, three days a week for the next month. Nobu enjoys every bit of it, too. By the end he has mastered First Aid.

Deciding that First Aid is not enough, and he really is beginning to desire to become a full fledged doctor in his own right, he selects a course in Pharmacology. This course will allow him to learn medicinal recipes and in turn be able to create medications for people while he is out on the road, rather than having to hunt down a medicine seller or a physician for the various treatments and cures. The course costs a bit more than the last one, but Nobu is willing to spend it as it is an investment in not only his own future, but it will also allow him to be of use to any group he chooses to travel with should he decide to go out on the road again. Traveling has allowed him to accrue enough money in this indulgence and helped him break free from his life long labor in the fields back home. Although Nobu is a Floris, and naturally tied to the land and plants, he has always desired more out of life than being a farmer. Growing up he hated being pigeonholed by people of different races. "Be a good Floris, go grow some corn while we do some blah blah blah." "Go sit on a pitch fork," would be his invariable reply. Sometimes the reply was not quite so censored. Sometimes it was anatomically impossible, but yet quite to the point. Nobu always did have an attitude towards those who had an attitude towards them. It is a part of his charm. Learning how to do medicine has been rather enjoyable. This herb is good for this. That herb is good for that. These two are good separate, but together they are better. Mash and grind. Cook and cool. Roll and slice. Acacia sap seems to be in everything, holding pills together, binding agents into a sphere, thickening, and so forth. Weeks of intense studying and stirring and making mistakes then learning from them. It really isn't that hard, he decides. By the end of the course, Nobu is capable of making practically any kind of medicine or salve.
