For those of you who don't know, or have missed what happened over the weekend, here's a little PSA for ya.
I won't name any names, but I would like people to know a little about what's going on in the lk community right now.
Over the weekend, someone went around the mp and bought a large amount
of stage five tree killers and capture seal kins with a large *probably illegal* amount of gold,
and then deleting them. For those who don't know what a capture seal kin is,
it's a very rare type of kin where only 25 have ever been made, so deleting
even one of them is a major blow.
Now it's believed that this person had other people helping them out and
funneling them gold to do all this, so a large amount of scammers are
currently being investigated for this.
Now how does this effect you?
Well, whenever a person is suspected of using illegally obtained gold to buy
from the marketplace, the person they bought from (the seller) has their
trading pass temporarily disabled in order to investigate if the trade was valid.
This doesn't mean the person was part of the scam, but they're still
investigated. If you or anyone you know has had their pass disabled recently,
this might be the reason why.
But don't worry too much about that, after everything is done and investigated,
you will most likely get your pass back, and the items that they bought from
you, so no need to fret.
And what has this done to the marketplace? Well because of the whole fiasco,
a lot of people have pulled their listings off the mp, and the prices of high
level tree killers has gone up immensly.
My advice for anyone looking to buy a sakura, or any other highly known tree
killer is: WAIT
Sakuras and Spirited Embers and other tree killers are sold in the cashshop
quite regularly now, and eventually the prices will go back to their pre-inflation
price, which is around 300-500bil gold
*I dont know really don't quote me on that*
So until all of this is dealt with and the person(s) behind this is dealt with,
please be safe with what you're doing and practice caution. Luckily we don't
have many bad eggs out there, but sadly this one is one of the worse ones.

**FURTHER UPDATE**
This person is also known to randomly gift people items bought with illegal gold as an anon. Whether you use this item or not, just *having* it is enough to get your trading pass disabled, so whenever they return it's recommended that you turn gifting to 'friends only' to prevent such a thing from happening

Thank you so much for this!! In no way this has affected me, so I was pretty lost at people losing their temper bc of "those people", I had no idea what they were talking about or what had happened...It makes me incredibly sad that things like these happen emotion_facepalm

In no way this has affected me, so I was pretty lost at people losing their temper bc of "those people", I had no idea what they were talking about or what had happened...It makes me incredibly sad that things like these happen emotion_facepalm I know, it's such a cruddy thing to do sad It's sad to see it happen, but at least things seem to be turning in a better direction.

I also heard that it was happening with the corgi kin as well??
Not all of the tree killers were affected, luckily. I think you can still invest in kin like Oats the Goose.

Yeah I heard it was only the bigger tree killers. Sakura, Spirited, Candy Corn Skulverine, things like that

Might this be why all of the Glowing Splicing Shards on the MK went poof? I generally take one or two every once in a while and splice up some Lustrous Pumpae to sell (I can give discounts to clan members wink ) and they all of a sudden went poof one day.

Well it does seem that a certain SOMEONE has returned to do her dastardly deeds.
So a warning for anyone who wasn't around the first time, please keep an eye out for suspicious people and beware of random gifts.
I would also suggest not selling any kin for a few days, just to be safe

I seriously would like to know who this person's name is (even if by PM) because after loosing my trading pass once years ago, it took three months for Gaia to decide to return it to me. Only a system glitch left me still without a trading pass such that it took another year and a friend becoming a forum assistant for someone to actually pay attention to the fact that I was still without a trading pass.
