For those of you who have listened to all of Incubus' music, I'm sure you notice that it has evolved quite a bit. I was just curious how other Incubus fans felt about their transition from hippies to mainstream.

I LOVE the old Incubus... but no matter what theyre still mah bebes whee true original enigmatic music in a catergory of its own... even when they change they manage to stay unlike everyone else.. change is good.. I'm glad that when I listen to them I can still find some lyrics funny, some very moving and still feel that they haven't really changed all along.. same super cool lyrics, different style. (I mean come on, compare S.C.I.E.N.C.E. to A Crow Left of the Murder! Whooaa different lol.. xd )

CLOTM disgusts me.

That's about it.

I have to agree with e b m. Incubus is a great band, but their greatness really only reaches to Make Yourself. Morning View was a pretty good album, but it was a huge turning point in their career. After that, they were a completely different band. I've listened to maybe 3 tracks from CLOTM and had to stop because I couldn't stand litening to it. And then, to make it worse, they release that Make a Move song. That music isn't right for Brandon's voice so it just sounds crappy. I have to give them kudos for doing the Halo2 soundtrack. That is way more like older Incubus and makes me glad that they still want to play music like that. I hope the future of Incubus will sound more like their Enjoy days.

Oh man, Incubus has changed so much. Fungus Amongus is a fovorite because of the funk vibe and lyrics (the stories are hillarious) and even up to Science you can hear avid lyrics of rebelion, drugs, aliens, deep thoughts, and love. I think the earlier years really defined how I thought their music would be for years to come, but once Make Yourself came out I understood that they wanted to become more serious (not that they already weren't great musicians) with their music. I found that the music got more complicated and the lyrics foucsed more on aspects of life. I didn't favor Make Yourself more or less than the previous cds, it just sounded kinda different, more mellow. Now Moring View scared the hell out of me the first time I heard it. I thought Incubus hit bottom. And I was wrong, I had to relisten to the whole cd a few times to get the feel of this one, it was more like a huge jam session compared to their other cds. I also noticed that DJ Kilmore's impact is alot less evident. As for ACLOTM I thought it was great, except for the fact that Kilmore doesn't do much and they have a new bassist! Don't get me wrong Ben Kenny is sweet but the whole album has a way different feel, still Incubus just no Lance. ACLOTM is a very good cd, I think it gave Brandon and Michael alot of room to expand.

oh my goooooosh i LOVED the Halo 2 soundtrack!!!

it must be hard for artists to live up to the "popular demand"... even though they sounded so much better back then!

In their old stuff Brandon seems to be yelling more than anything, and the newer he sings more , and I like his singing, so I like their more recent stuff better..but their old stuff is very interesting too xd , I started liking them based on the "Morning View" CD, and I really liked that one, And then I got the "A Crow left of the Murder" one, and then got the "Make Yourself" one,and then I listened to their older stuff, and it sounded really weird to me... xd

I wasn't big on Fungus Amongus but i agree Science is a kickass cd. Their creativity is amazing! I also loved Morning View and there are many good songs on clotm. They are re-entering the recording studio for another album and i can't wait!

I like all incubus, but i must say that I prefer the older music... it's more intense and the lyrics are better, but when i'm at the show, I like it all!! whee

I basically like all Incubus... but I'm not a gigantic fan of A Crow Left of the Murder. It was alright, but it could've been way better.

Either way, I'm still an Incubus fan. heart

I like older Incubus, but Make Yourself is probably my favorite cd. A Crow Left of the Murder wasn't up to their potential, but I still enjoyed most of it.

They went from really funk sounding (Fungus) to a ton more mellow. Not saying that that is a bad thing. They are just on two opposite sides of the spectrum. Which is kind of good, giving more diverse sounding songs. It would be boring if all of the CD's sounded the same. It would be like listening to the same song over and over.... that gets really old. mrgreen

I think that an evolution of their style over time was only to be expected; they were only kids when they started out and have had two new members since their original line-up which was bound to bring new aspects to their sound. Over all I think that they are an amazing band; I appreciate what they're trying to do and I admire their skill from being able to change their sound from one album to the next... I know I didn't really answer the question. Sorry.
