Hey, folks. Today we actually have a serious post. Crazy, right? (Crazy?! I was crazy once. They locked me in a round room…) Okay, serious from here on out. Mostly.

To be honest, it’s something that I’m going to bumble about and generally present in as awkward a manner as possible because, truly, I don’t want to insult anyone or cause any hurt feelings. This will also be awkward in part because I’m me and I’m apparently only rarely capable of writing in a linear fashion. There’s that.

So, the point: the crew and I are looking to get a count of our active members, whether regular participants or lurkers. We don’t really want to call it a purge. One, because that makes it sound like we’re going to begin some sort of apocalypse and start killing off undesirables. Um. No. That’s not what we’ll be doing. Not at all. We’re not that bloodthirsty. Two, because while we probably will be pruning out some members who have never ever posted, PMed or generally interacted with us in any way, we have this guild set to auto-join and so everyone is free to join whenever they desire without our approval or say-so… even if they’ve been previously removed from the guild.

Why are we doing this? A couple of reasons. One of the big ones is that this guild was created to be a close-knit community of LK players. This means that we want to talk to you, be with you, get to know you. We want to gush about LK and the other aspects of our lives, both on and offline. Let us send you random gifts and birthday wishes. Early or belated, of course, because we have a bad tendency to be forgetful about things like that, but sincere well wishes all the same. We don’t want to be complete strangers but, rather, friends of a sort. Another part of this decision is that we’ve recently started increasing our number of announcements to keep everyone in the loop. If you’re not interested in what we’re doing, then we don’t want to be bothering you with pointless spam throughout the week. That’s annoying. A little rude, too.

How are we doing this? We’ll be taking a look at some of the logs. If you haven’t posted since before January 1st of 2016, you are likely a candidate for this pruning. How can you avoid being pruned? Post in any of the forums. We have tons of discussion threads and I, for one, don’t mind if you revive an old one. Feel free to start new ones, too! We’re open to anything. Not interested in posting? That’s okay. Lurkers are wonderful people and we love having you here. However, we do ask that you let us know you’re lurking, so please PM myself, Magically Clueless, or aaleeyyee and let us know that you’d like to stay on board. (Or, like I said before, just rejoin. No hard feelings. You’ll be automatically accepted.)

Want to help us make this guild better? We’re always looking for crew and helpers! Check out what positions are available, and what they entail, here. If being a crewmember doesn’t interest you, you’re always free to post in our suggestions forum or send a message to any crew members. We do discuss all of your suggestions amongst ourselves and try our best to implement what we can, within reason.

In an attempt to soften the blow (because we're really sorry if this comes across badly and/or offends anyone), here are some gifs of hugs and snuggles:

TLDR; we're sorry and we feel a little guilty for doing this, but we're trying to reintroduce a sense of closeness and community and so we're considering pruning inactive members and otherwise giving people a gentle push (aka, a kick in the pants) to start posting again. Please post somewhere in the forums or PM any crew member except Zaerys before October 16th if you'd like to stay on with us!

edit (9/30): Because we forgot to mention this disclaimer the first time around... anyone who joined in August 2016 (or later) is excluded from this posting requirement. This might change at a later date but it didn't seem fair to punish new members.
