Things had been going swimmingly. Fig and Cam had jointly decided to give up apartment life, to find a cozy, little house to move into together. It was still pretty convenient for school, town, and shopping, which was good. It afforded them privacy and, most importantly, a space that was entirely their own. A place they could fill with love, and laughter, and music, and warmth. It was truly wonderful new experience for the Fae. However, he and his beloved were also wanting to fill the house with family, specifically children, their children. Of course, their families were welcome to come visit, but the desire to bring their own children into the world had been powerful of late. This is where things weren't going quite so smoothly. There had been some significant stress floating around in regards to imbuing. Fig felt ready and Cam certainly was. Whatever the reason, stress, or scheduling issue, or the worriedly touched on subject of possible infertility, or so many other what if's, their house had yet to be blessed with the pitter patter of tiny Imp/Fae feet. All of it had gotten Fig to thinking, soul searching. He knew at the very core of his being that he loved Cam. Adored her! She was his best friend, his dearest companion and confidant, the absolute love of his life. Of this, he had no doubt in his mind, or his heart. He had already told her that if there was any one person in the entirety of Above or Below he would marry, it would be her. That hadn't been a proposal, just a frantic statement of his feelings. As true then as it were now. No, he had been wanting to put loads of time planning the perfect proposal, find the perfect song or songs, and practice, practice, practice, when he got the chance to do so in private, of course. Planning popping the big question had been put on the back burner for a while. They had gone house hunting, had moved into, gotten themselves situated in their new home. Schooling was still a thing, so classes, commuting. Then, their attempts at family planning. If anything, Fig felt he was long overdue. With everything they did together, everything they've experienced and gone through, the time felt more than right. What future lay ahead of them was a mystery, but one the Fae was looking forward to taking on with his lady love.
Despite it having been a time since he had thought much on his plan, everything seemed to fall into place before him. He knew what he had to do. First, have Cam be out of the house, classes and errands would work for his purposes, but to be sure, he had asked her to bring home a short list of a few things. Nothing overt. A thing or two for his gardening, a nice bottle of wine, a small package from a friend of his, and anything else she might fancy. Next, once he was certain she had everything she needed for her outing and abouting and wouldn't be just spontaneously showing up again, he set to decorating the garden. Lights were carefully wrapped around branches of a modest tree in their backyard. A stereo was tucked just out of sight, but within easy range of the remote tucked in his pants pocket. Frosted glass lanterns were set on the table, by the backdoor, skirting the edges of his flowerbeds, leaving plenty of clear space to move, walk, and dance, of course. Then to get a meal prepared and have it be ready or just about so by the time Cam was due to return home. He had music already queued up, so he didn't have to worry over that.
Time flew by, as he was sure he had been. Fig was nervous, and so very excited. His wings fluttered anxiously at his back as he checked over everything for what he was sure was the eighth or ninth time. It'd be great, perfect, of course that didn't help how fidgety he felt. The Fae felt fit to burst! Turning off the lights in the back until the time came, Fig settled himself into the kitchen to fuss over the dinner he was preparing and trying consciously to not look so obviously nervous. He had to play it cool for when Cam returned home!

Camrine felt like she was wrapped in the best most comfortable sweater. Her relationship with Fig had made her feel so at home and so happy it was amazing and shocking. They had been trying to kids for a while, it hadn't happened yet, but Cam still hoped her dream with Fig would come true and they would have a house full of kids that looked like them. Moving into a small cozy house with Fig with enough rooms extra to make bunk beds possible was Cam's dream come true. Cam's heart had broken with each imbuing that failed but Fig stood by her through each trial. Their love had not fallen.
