In Language Arts class the twins had been challenged to think about what they want to be when they grow up. Neither of them really liked to think about the future, if often just lead to them thinking about the past. About their parents and the fact that the future didn't have them anywhere in it. No Mom and Dad to write home to or call when cool things happened in class, the one competitions, first crushes....none of that. At least the two of them had each other.
Currently they were sitting across from each other at the coffee table in their shared dorm room. Lori had her arms crossed on the table and was resting with her head down, looking out the window. Bailey was staring at the pencil in his hand and wishing it would just start writing on it's own.
"I don't think I'm cut out to follow in their footsteps...." Lori honestly had no idea what her Dad had done before meeting their Mom, but the two of them together were the best glow-blowing team in the Scepters. "I think...I'd like to try at least...." Bailey sighed and started scribbling down some random thoughts on the paper, trying to make at least sentences out of them.
"Do you think I could be a model?" Lori sat up at looked at her brother with adoring eyes. To which he laughed, but when he saw her start to frown he turned it around as quickly as he could manage."Of course you could! With that hair and those eyes! Everyone would adore you!" Bailey actually could see his sister going down a modeling path, he couldn't see her really doing much else honestly.
"Maybe I could have my own fashion line!" That sounded like it could be a lot of fun! Designing her own outfits, being a star in her own way. She did like drawing, but not in the same way that Bailey did. His art was more abstract. She was most of a people watcher, liking to see the trends, and such. If she really tried her hand at it, she didn't think design would be too difficult. She'd have to learn to sew and that could be handy in a number of circumstances!
- "I think you'd be pretty great at that actually, plus I wouldn't have to pay for clothes either! Bonus!" The two of them laughed together and Lori started her assignment rather eagerly for the first time. "And while you wear the clothes I make, I'll decorate my house with all your art! It's a win-win!" The two of them were writing full force now and actually seemed to be in a better mood. They might not have their parents, and that would always suck, but at least they had each other. They also weren't stuck with abusive relatives, so that had to be some sort of good. Or at least better than the worst case scenario.
