Today was the day of Alice's trial. She was escorted to the castle by a dozen guards. With her she had her family as she entered the castle throne room. There were nobles sat around the throne room there to spectate. Along with that the small council stood next to the throne.

Alice had arrived wearing her high-end armor from her time as a huntress. Most guards kept their distance, the commander in real armor. Some of them had never seen armor like it, if she planned an escape they were too intimidated to stand up to her. Alice did not, instead she stood behind the pedestal she was meant be by.

On the throne sat a man of average height in a dark intimidating armor. The demon king? She wondered to herself, most villagers have heard he went missing and was traveling the world to bring peace. Why would he be here for her trial? Generally the small council handled these matters...

Jack, who sat on the throne in his father's royal armor, saw Alice come in and nodded. "We're here to bring Alice Ramsy to trial for her crimes." He spoke, his voice sounding deep and imposing. The helmet his father had for the royal armor made people sound tough. The whole armor was display to look intimidating; even enchanted for that purpose. He had to wait for everyone to arrive before commencing.

Jack looked over at Nora and gave her a little wave as the grand maester introduced him. "King Jack Nevermore of house Nevermore fifth of his name, king of demons, ruler of the netherworld, he who likes to rock the party." The maester sounded annoyed at the last part that Jack added himself. Jack nodded, and said the trial is to begin.

For the most part Jack sat there, as the lawyers began doing their law. Their first witness to Alice's crime was Kyven. The prosecutor called up Kyven to stand at the pedestal, made him take a truth potion, and asked what happened that night.

Jack was glad the lawyer stopped Kyven, and dismissed him. The next person called up was Philip, since he had years of experience with Alice. They wanted to question him for what Alice did to his shop. once more, they had a potion there for him to take. Alice felt very nervous hearing Kyven's testimony. Too nervous to be wondering about the name of their lost king. It wouldn't matter if he lied for her or not, the rules were different for nobles.

She looked back at Nora and frowned, mouthing out that she's sorry. If she was going to lose a head she might as well do it after apologizing. Alice wished she had more time to spend with her niece before this, but time flew by quickly. Hearing Philip called up next, she gulped in fear of what he might say...

The lawyer nodded. He went on to say how Philip had a history with Alice, how he would spend time in the dungeon over unfair treatment. He then went on pointing out multiple times Alice had destroyed property around town. They asked Philip if he had anything he would like to add, before dismissing him. Their next witness was the noble girl, Manami's identical twin. She walked up to the pedestal with angry look, her massive oni father behind her in a suit. After a bit, she explained what had happened from her perspective. How Alice unfairly treated her and broke her arm, how she lost consciousness from her injuries. Once she finished her story she walked back to her seat.

Things didn't look good for Alice throughout the next hour. They had evidence of bent in armor, guard testimony on the events. Alice looked nervous, she knew the exists and if she had to she could jump through the roof and be out of the town. Jack meanwhile read a book throughout the case, he had to brush up on what the law was again. Reaching the end, with Alice's attorney only saying to her "we're ********" as they hired a Smallwood, the master of laws turned to the king and whispered that Alice should be found guilty then said. "Your Grace--" "Oh that's, no that's not going to work, call me Jack." "Right, your grace-- Jack, have you come to a decision?"

"What?" Jack asked, his helmet making his voice sound booming and intimidating. The master of law whispered again into Jack's helmet that the laws were up to him, as it was his kingdom. "What?!" His voice boomed once more. "You mean to say we didn't have to do this? Right well, I have a few words to say. Before that, does anyone have anything to say?" He asked the people there for the trial. "Speak now or forever hold your tongue!" Jack said, having heard that in weddings only changing it a bit to make it his own. Mami stood up. "She should see her head removed! I warn this kingdom if she is to walk free, our family will never supply you with wines again!" Jack frowned, damn he liked wine, Alice would owe him for this. "Oh don't be a bully, plus where else would your family go? You're an oni dude." Mami looked baffled, did the king call her a bully? She sat back down angrily.

Alice then spoke up. "Even now, I could cut through the lot of you like carving a cake!" Jack scowled. "You're not helping your case you know." Te sighed, then continued. "No one even mentioned how everyone in this room owes their lives to Alice hundreds of times over." He stood up and dramatically walked down the throne room. "In the past decade, Alice has defeated hydras, dragons, even a giant octopus god thing." Alice nodded and under her breath says 'yeah I did that'. "There's also dozens of villages throughout the realms that can say she hunted dangerous monsters for them." He stopped halfway down. "Even a krakken! Who the ******** can kill a krakken?! Alice mumbled out 'you only need a weapon with thunder affinity really'. "Also, is anyone even sure Alice can die? Are we even sure she can be beheaded?"

Jack waved over one of the guards, the only one with a mythril weapon. "I want you to swing your axe at Alice's arm." Alice held it out after removing one of her gauntlets Alice, feeling a bit shaky, saw the man lifted his axe and swing it at Alice's arm. Stopping on her skin. Alice pulled her arm back holding the bruise that it left. "This must be what pain feels like!! Is this what I've been doing to you Phil?!" She said looking at Philip sadly. "Hm, well see that? That's why she's saved your noble asses, if she's dead, or if she leaves, we're all dead to the next big monster that shows up."

Jack nodded, then said. "Also she's pardoned, I can do whatever I want turns out! Dismissed, all of you, feel sick about yourselves. Come on." Jack said, walking back to the throne. Leaving the courtroom in silence. Their new king.. was a lot like their old king. Alice blinked a few times, did she just get saved? She could hear Mami swearing in the back at him, calling him a fool king. Alice stood up, and walked over to Nora and Phil. Giving Nora a tight hug.

Mami pouted and stormed off. He were right; her family could not stop dealing with the kingdom. As she left the lights dimmed until being off, and a disco ball came from the roof. Alongside a skeleton band being lowered from a platform, performing Elderahn's innocence from execution song. Making Jack smile and nod, thinking classic dad to himself. "This kingdom is so weird!" Mami snarled, leaving the castle.

Alice said in the happiest way she could. Then turned to Kyven, grabbed both of his cheeks and planted a deep kiss on him. She felt like doing that, she was being very emotional and loved doing that when she's full of adrenaline. Cynthia didn't want to come anyway, so her loss. The doors slammed open and Jack quickly walked into down the halls with a book on bird law. "Everyone relax! I've found a loophole to save Alice last minute--" He said, to the court as people were beginning to leave. "Ah, too late?" Jack said walking over to the gang. "Sorry guess I wasn't here in time, everything go well looks like...?" Jack had scurried away during the lights fading and took his armor off, wearing his usual ragged brown cloak over himself, and planned to trick them into thinking that he only shared the name with their king. He didn't want them to act like they owed him anything.

The hand of the king made her way to the group and landed next to Jack and Nora. "He's your king." Annthea said to Kyven. "Did you just notice you can do that?" Jack shook his head. "Nope didn't even get halfway through the book. I was making things up as I went along really." With a deep sigh, Annthea tried to explain to her cousin. "You're the king in kingdom, you can literally do anything you want in your own kingdom. If you wanted to, you could have me run the whole thing while you booze around the blackmarket all day without any repercussions." Besides making Annthea angry at him. "I have things to do, human boys to tease, see you guys later." Annthea said, teleporting herself back to her tower.

Jack had a moment to think about that, he could do anything he wanted without consequences? "Is that what being a king means? Having full control over an entire kingdom?!" He said in a gasp. Then hugged Nora again. "I was wrong, I'm not miserable, my life is fantastic!"
