Sorry, I am rather sick feeling lately, so I haven't been able to express my self physically without coughing... So here I am.. Hyper over the computer! ^^ I thought is would be helpful to have a petit guide on the sabbats in here, since they are quite an important part of wicca, and I am desperate to get more wicca threads started.... ninja So below are the sabbats, and a bit of information about dem..

Samhain
Other Names: Hallowmas, Samhuinn
Date: 15 Degrees Scorpio, October 31st or November 1st.
Focus: Transformation, regeneration, honoring the dead, divination, hornoring the harvest, preparing for winter.
Cosmic: Pluto ( Modern ), Mars ( Classical ).
Things to Do:
~ Carve and empower a pumpkin
~ Build a shrine to your ancestors
~ Divination
~ Make a family photo album
~ Visit a cemetery

Yule
Other Names: Mean Geimhridh, Alban Arthuan, Modranicht ( Mother Night ).
Date: 1 Degree Capricorn, or 21st of December.
Focus: Rebirth and renewal, blessings, burning of the yule log.
Cosmic: Saturn
Things to Do:
~ Make a yule log and decorate with ribbon.
~ Empower mistletoe
~ Empower gifts
~ Build a Yule altar honoring the wolf and the stag.

Imbolc
Other names: Candlemas, Oimealg, Imbolc, Brigantia, Disting, Lupercalia.
Date: 15 degrees Aquarius, or February 2nd.
Focus: New growth, end of winter, rituals of purification, offerings, candle magick.
Cosmic: Uranus ( Modern ), Saturn ( Classic ).
Things to Do:
~ Add a circle of candles to the altar, each one representing a goal. Empower.
~ Banish winter buy burning paper snowflakes.
~ Empower ice to banish negativity. As the ice melts, so does the negativity... ^^
~ Plant seeds or buy a plant.
~ Bless your pet.
~ Purify the house.
~ Meditate on the wolf.

Focus: Second harvest, vegetables and fruits, corn festival.

~ Dip leaves in parrafin and bless.
~ Make a corn dolly.
~ Preform ritual in a field.
~ Visit a local orchard for offerings.
~ Thank a field for it's harvest.

And don't forget in the southern hemisphere those dates are sixth months later. I have to try and remember that, seeing as that bes where I live and all..... smile

You're not the only one. Everyone says they look forward to Yule being around Christmas time and I sit here thinking, "Huh? Yule's in June though!".

Ack. I thought there were only four sabbats. Well, that shows how much I know...
Can someone tell me what a Yule Log is? Do you just find a normal log and decorate it, and then burn it?
(I'm so, SO sorry if I sound annoying. I'm new to wicca.)

Ooh! Sam, post the recipe for the yummy Samhain cookies! And... Yule in June? That would feel different for me. (lives in same town as Sam)
