The Mortarchs are Deathlords, immensely powerful servants of Nagash, some of which were a powerful force in the World-that-Was and who now serve him again in the Mortal Realms. Each of the Mortarchs have powerful relics and artefacts at their disposal and may ride to war on Dread Abyssal mounts.
Known Mortarchs:
Mannfred von Carstein,Mortarch of Night: Vampire - Mannfred often seems to be scheming against his lord, but just as frequently he carries out his masters will nonetheless. Neferata, Mortarch of Blood: Vampire- The first vampire, Queen Neferata serves Nagash (reluctantly) not just through her armies, sorcery and skill at arms, all of which are formidable but with her vast network of spies that spans the Realms. Arkhan the Black, Mortarch of Sacrament: Lich - Only Arhkan the Black is truly loyal to Nagash and it is he that the supreme lord of the undead often choses to lead his armies and carry out those tasks he would trust to no one else. Lady Olynder , Mortarch of Despair: Night Haunt Spirit - She commands the Nighthaunt legions, vast host of tormented spirits, being possessed of a misery that projects from her in deadly waves.

Mannfred Von Carstein Mortarch of Night Mannfred serves at Nagash’s right hand. It is an occupation which he greatly resents, and he is ever watchful for a means to free himself from his servitude to the Great Necromancer. Though some warriors judge themselves by the standards of the enemies they vanquish, Mannfred is no slave to conventions of honour or glory. Ends concern him far more than means; if the choice falls between slaughtering the meek and vanquishing the mighty, he chooses slaughter.

Arkhan the Black Mortarch of Sacrament Arkhan the Black is Nagash’s foremost lieutenant and an adept student of his master’s sorceries. Ever a faithful servant, Arkhan oversaw the preparations for the Great Necromancer’s return and once again he is at the forefront of his master's schemes for domination.Unlike many liches in the service of Nagash, Arkhan does not appear as a mere withered husk, striding forth in robes and armour of rich purple and gold, radiated a power second only to that of his master. As an animated skeleton he lacks any expression except a black-toothed rictus grin

Lady Olynder Mortarch of Despair She is the Mourning Bride, the Unrequited Queen, the Veiled Lady and the Mortarch of Grief. She is despair made manifest, gloom given form. She is Lady Olynder, and in her are bound all the sorrows and anguishes of the realms. Her power transcends the melancholic, for she exudes mind-crippling waves of pure desolation. Mortals in her presence are overwhelmed by a gloom so heavy that only the strongest willed can stay upright. Most fall to their knees, mentally battered by their own utter hopelessness. It is a sorrow potent enough to cause a mother to forsake her child, a warrior to lay down his sword and accept the inevitable, to stop a beating heart.

Dread Abyssals Dread abyssals are spiritual creatures ridden into battle by the forces of Nagash. They feed on both flesh and spirit, with some feeding on certain types of sinners. They can fly across the air, dismember victims with their ebon claws and are followed by hosts of spirits.
The Mortarchs of Nagash ride dread abyssals into battle: Arkhan rides Razarak, the Doom of Traitors, Mannfred von Carstein rides Ashigaroth, Gorger Upon the Meek and Neferata rides Nagadron, the Adevore.
