His sister and Her’sie were bunkered away somewhere where they could stay safe and out of sight. A few nights previous they decided it was best if they separated. If they wanted to find somewhere safe to stay, their only choice was really to let Luris go ahead and scout for a place to call home, at least temporarily. Luris struggled traveling in the hot, golden sand. It was one of the good reasons his sister didn’t travel with him. With her dark pelt, she would have been even hotter than him. It was strange not having his sister by his side, even odder to be all alone.
He kept looking for any sign of anything other than sand. ‘Maybe it would be best to just turn around and look elsewhere,’ He thought, straining to see much of anything. As he was about to turn, he spotted what looked like a stream or a river in the distance. It was enough to renew his energy. He started to sprint toward the water, doing his best to ignore the sandy wind brushing into him.
When he reached the water, he jumped right in, causing a splash. The scars on his body stung, but it was worth it to have the cool water on his fur. This was the perfect spot to take a break and recover, he thought as he rested in the water.
