▬▬▬▬▬▬┤|PERSONAL • DATA|├▬
Full Name: Ichiyonji Gorosei
Nickname: The Painted Fox, Little Ichi (normally by the council and the Elder of the Tree), Goro
Age: 315 Years old, looks to be roughly 20
Birthdate: Unknown
Gender: Male
Physical Description: Gorosei is lean in build with little muscle mass. He has snow white hair and pale grey eyes. Goro typically wears what one would consider typical shrine attire, as in a white and red kimono with the japanese symbol for peace stitched onto the back, as well as a transparent shawl that he uses as a hood. He wears wooden sandals to cover his feet. Goro's nails are slightly overgrown, just enough to where they form a slight point on the ends of his fingers, but not so grown that you would notice without a closer look. He doesn't hide his form, so everyone can see his tails sprouting from his back, each tipped with black paint. His ears are also tipped with similar black color, though that is just a color pattern rather than paint.
Height: 5'10
Weight: 125 lbs
Notable Quote: "The world needs a little more color, don't you think?"
Personality: Gorosei seems like a child, most of the time. He spends most of his time painting, daydreaming, or sleeping. Most other Kitsune tend to stay away from him, but it doesn't seem to bother him in the slightest. Goro is devilishly smart, in fact, he is known to be quite the tactician. He likes to spend his time around the elders rather than younger Kitsune, or even kitsune around his own age. He sees them as bland and feels as if the elders can be sort of like muses for his creativity just by being around them.
Goro holds a deep love for anyone of his kind, regardless of how they feel about him. Beneath the surface of his happy-go-lucky exterior, an ocean of rage boils. Should harm be done on another Kitsune in Goro's presence, unless it is in a battle between fellow Kitsune, he lets the entirety of his rage show and becomes a ruthless monster. The 'Painted Fox' is known to have a wild desire for freedom, but not so wild that he is willing to break the rules of the Kitsune world. His fierce loyalty to his kind won't let him go that far. He likes to see the world, and ever since they started to allow Kitsune to travel out of the tree, he has made it a point to start exploring. Although he normally acts happy, he does have days where he feels volatile and upset. It isn't brought on by anything specific.
Family: Garasu (Father, deceased), Hirume (Mother, deceased), unnamed grandparents that he has never met.

Tactician
- Gorosei is highly intelligent, and his mind works at a faster pace than most individuals. He takes in information and processes it fast enough to run through various possibilities in mere seconds before making a choice. He has a vast knowledge of how to traverse the battlefield and makes plans to assure victory before he makes a move. Should he find himself in a fight that he is unprepared for, he tends to find a way to play to his strengths, sit back and analyze his opponents, and from there he will either concede defeat or play it out until he is sure of an outcome.
Painter
- Due to the nature of Gorosei's abilities, he has become quite a skilled artist. Some of his paintings have been sought out by nobles and upper-class citizens just for the pure aesthetic.
Skilled Combatant
- Although he doesn't seem like it, Gorosei is a skilled combatant, with decades of hand to hand and weapon training under his belt. Some of the older Kitsune remember that he was noted to be one of the more skilled combatants to have been raised in the tree for his age, but most of the race has forgotten.
▬▬▬▬▬▬┤|ABILITY • DATA|├▬
Kakimashita
- When Gorosei developed his first tail and his magic began to manifest, the tips of his tails began to constantly produce ink. It wasn't at a rapid rate at first, but slowly it got to the point where it was a constant stream of black ink that stained his fur. Over the years, and as his magic grew stronger, Goro learned how to utilize this ability better. While Kakimashita is a passive ability, there are two forms of Kakimashita which require an activation.
- Iro ga Demashita: By using a bit of energy, Gorosei can change the color of paint that his tails produce. This is mostly used to allow him to add color to pictures, as it doesn't have any influence on the rest of his abilities. This requires very little energy to use, but once he stops using the energy required, the paint returns to its original black state.
Ryūnyū: Requiring slightly more energy than Iro ga Demashita, Ryūnyū is when Gorosei's tail's begin producing more paint than normal. Depending on how much energy he pours into this form of Kakimashita, paint can be produced anywhere from a slow drip to a continuous stream. However, continuous use of this ability can drain quite a large sum of energy, as such, if he uses this technique, he tends to use it sparingly and only for a few moments before turning it off.
Jōgi
- Once Gorosei's second tail came in, his magic grew in strength, and he noticed that he was able to manipulate paint in various ways. He could cause it to move around, rise up, form shapes, and after a while he could even cause it to create more paint from itself. However, he could only cause it to multiply up to twice the amount of paint he had originally laid down. Jōgi requires very little energy to use, and it seems like it is only good for increasing the amount of paint available and for splashing paint around; but, one thing that Gorosei learned he could do, was paint in the air. By manipulating the paint straight off of the brush or from his tails, Goro can leave streaks of paint in the sky, which allows him to use his abilities without a canvas, as well as can be used off the battlefield to entertain others.
Inochi o Fukikomu
- With Gorosei's third tail, his ability to manipulate paint evolved. He noticed that, with a little more energy, instead of just moving paint around, he could give it life. At first it was only small things; anything larger than a marble completely drained his energy. However, after practicing with this ability, and growing a fourth tail, he was able to manifest larger objects and eventually even found that he could bring small animals to life! However, bringing something with life into the world required an even heavier energy tax. It still drains quite a lot of energy from him even now, and serves no use in battle. However, inanimate objects don't take up as much energy anymore.
- Karā Gizō: Karā gizō is the branch of this ability that allows Gorosei to bring inanimate objects into the world. By painting the object he wants to create, even a basic outline of one (so long as he has the image in his mind), he can bring the paint to life. The largest object he is able to create with this ability at the current moment is a katana. However, he can only create one object using this ability at a time. These objects hold the same properties as one created by normal means. Meaning a sword still cuts like a sword, a shield has the same durability, et cetera.
Yasei Dōbutsu: This branch of Gorosei's ability is where he creates living things. The largest he can make at present is a rabbit or a bird, however, as stated previously, even something as small as a mouse requires a tremendous amount of energy, and as such they serve no purpose in battle. When creating one of these animals, he has to give it a purpose. An example would be delivering a note or moving a box. Once they have fulfilled that purpose, they disintegrate immediately.
Ippitsugaki
- A seemingly basic technique, compared to the rest of Gorosei's abilities, Ippitsugaki is a technique that he developed during the war against the demons many years ago. He noticed that having to paint everything in order to make use of his abilities was easily hindered by a continuous onslaught of attacks from his enemies. In order to get around this, he used the battle as a way to test and refine a way to fight with his abilities without having to paint a picture every time that he needed to attack. Ippitsugaki is a single stroke of paint from a brush that is drawn in the air, that, at the moment that it is drawn, propels in the direction that it is aimed. This stroke carries the same properties as a swords edge. It has cutting power similar to a razor blade, and can be blocked like one would a normal attack. This stroke of paint can travel up to 50 meters before it dissipates or is blocked. Once blocked, it dissipates like normal. This ability has a very small energy cost, and can be used in rapid succession so long as Gorosei can supply the energy to use it.
Nura Reta Mori
- By utilizing a fair amount of energy, Gorosei starts this ability by first employing his Ryūnyū ability in order to create a continuous stream of paint from his tails, which he then flails around in order to splash paint randomly over the battlefield. Once he has done this, he manipulates the paint in order to have it link up and spread out even more. By touching the nearest spot of paint that he can find (typically is right in front of him), he pours his soul wavelength into the paint and it begins to rise and morph, taking the form of a sakura forest. These trees look quite real, and even have their own mass and texture, but remember they are made of paint. The trees are durable, but are much easier to cleave through than normal trees. However, should they be cut down, the trees return to their ink state and sprout more trees. This ability ranges up to 100 meters at its largest, but only lasts for around 10 posts before the forest wilts and falls into paint. Once this ability deactivates, the paint dries up and severs Gorosei's ability to manipulate it. Due to the amount of energy required to use this ability, it can only be used once during battle. This ability is mostly used to give Gorosei a tactical advantage. The forest is dense enough that he can hide in it, as well as he knows the layout of the forest from the moment it sprouts.
Tsūro
- An ability that Gorosei developed with the growth of his sixth tail, Tsūro is an ability that allows for long distance travel. By painting the shape of a door, and manifesting the door, Gorosei can create a portal to another area. In order to use this ability, he has to be able to picture exactly where he is wanting to go in his mind, and he cannot travel to places that he has not previously been. When using this ability, the door he creates connects to the area he is attempting to travel to by taking the form of a door in that area that he has physically touched before. In doing so, he is literally opening that door (in the area he is going to) and coming out on the other side.
Koi Kuro
- Koi Kuro is an augment he can apply to his other abilities. The basic principle for this ability is that he adds more ink into his abilities in order to "thicken" them. This adds to the initial drain of energy from each individual ability, but in doing so he can add some passive effects based on the color of Ink he adds.
- Black: A slightly stronger version of the ability. Not in structure, but in overall power, allowing them to hit harder and maintain a sturdier fortification against heavy blows.
Yellow: Adds an inlay of electricity into the ink. Able to further resist water-based attacks.
Red: An inlay of heat coursing through the ink, allowing it to slightly absorb static by displacing the initial jolt of energy.
Blue: Thicker, wetter ink with slightly aquatic properties. Able to slightly resist fire and heat, allowing them to withstand fire based attacks and maintain their structure for longer before they become brittle and collapse.
Yū Saishiki
- By coating his body in a thin layer of his ink, he can alter the color of the ink at whim, causing it to conform to the area around him. In essence, he becomes invisible due to the constantly shifting colors of the ink that respond to his movement. The realism of the colors allows him to perfectly blend into his surroundings. However, this doesn't erase his presence or his sounds. In order to attack while camouflaged, he has to undo the technique, giving away his position.

Things to Note
- Since all of Gorosei's abilities are based around paint, they are all extremely weak to fire based attacks. The fire dries the paint out and makes the constructs very brittle and easily breakable. The abilities can still be used, but prolonged exposure to fire (one post) causes them to dissipate from drying out.
Gorosei is extremely loyal to the Tree of the Kitsune's, and he values their laws above all else; however, his desire for freedom causes him to bend the rules a bit.
Most Kitsune's that live in the tree, or have visited the tree, tend to treat Gorosei like he should be avoided, though there is no concrete reason for them to do so.
Whenever Gorosei fights, he tends to pull out a paintbrush from on his person and touches the brush to his tails in order to get ink at first, but this isn't a requirement.
Whenever Gorosei uses his abilities, the paint tends to crackle with what looks like red electricity for a moment before they come to life. It isn't part of the ability, it's just a visual effect from his energy being infused into the paint.

▬▬▬▬▬▬┤| HISTORY|├▬
Gorosei was born many years ago, within the Tree of Kitsune’s, hidden away from the human world. Although he knew nothing of the world beyong his homeland, Goro was a curious child. He grew up dreaming of what the outside world looked like, what it smelled like, what it felt like. Constantly he had to push these thoughts down before the temptations to leave the tree became too great. Hirume and Garasu, his parents, instilled a great deal of perserverence in their son, and eventually he put aside any desire to leave the Tree in lieu of supporting the Tree in any way he could.
A decade or so after he was born, Gorosei’s first tail manifested itself, and with it, his magic. Unlike most kitsune, which developed elemental magic abilities, Goro’s magic presented itself in the form of a constant supply of paint that began leaking from the tip of his tail. It was being produced at a slow enough rate that it didn’t create a mess, but it was consant, and eventually had permanently stained the tip of his tail black, no matter how many times he washed the paint out. At first Gorosei was disappointed in this ability. It wasn’t flashy like the magic he had witnessed other Kitsune display. He couldn’t find any cool ways to use it, as it wasn’t something that he could control at the time. His parents convinced him look on the bright side. After thinking about the ways in which he could use this ability, Gorosei turned to painting.
He wasn’t very good at first. His artwork was crude and unrefined. In fact, Goro himself had a hard time making out exactly what he was painting, even if he had a clear idea of what he was trying to create. Over time he developed his ability to paint until he was fairly skilled. In fact, he even earned the nickname the Painted Fox for his ability to paint vivid pitcures. By the time he had stopped physically aging, his paintings were some of the most detailed and beautifully articulated paintings around the Kitsune Tree. Somewhere between this point and when he had first awakened his magic, Gorosei had learned how to manipulate the ability slightly. He could somewhat control how fast his tail was producing paint, and he could change the color of the paint with a little effort. By the time the war came, Gorosei had four tails....
The reports came in a frantic way. Several scouts had noticed that demons were invading the forest and were heading straight for the Tree. Some of the warriors had already dispatched to try and deal with the threat, but more reports were flooding in about more demons from the other side of the tree. Even the Kitsune who weren’t fighters began to take up arms and were preparing to set out to meet the demon forces. Anything to keep them away from the tree. Gorosei’s parents set out, but had demanded that he stay behind. He waited until he was sure they were gone before he prepared himself and set out in the opposite direction.
The forest was littered with bodies. Kitsune and demon alike had already suffered many casualties, and even more were wounded and being treated behind cover. The demons had their own magical abilities, and the Kitsune was doing everything they could to counter whatever they had thrown their way. When Gorosei neared the battlefield, he began to paint, using the abilities he had developed as well as he could in order to forge a weapon to fight with. Each time his weapon was destroyed, he retreated to paint another. As the demon forces closed in, he realized that he wouldn’t be able to keep painting every time he needed a weapon. Gorosei scanned the area around him to find something he could use, but the constant barrage of attacks coming from their enemies made it hard to see. He came up with a plan.
Instead of just fighting uselessly in this war, Gorosei decided to use it as a way to hone his abilities even more. The way he saw it, it was either get stronger, or die fighting. He started by thinking of ways that he could fight using his magic without having to take the time to paint something. Deciding on trying to create a slash attack with paint, he put his plan into action. After he had the rhythm for this new attack down, it was only a matter of perfecting it. It took several hours, but he had managed to minimize the amount of energy required for his new attack, while at the same time making sure it still had its intended effect. Gorosei had defeated his share of demons during this time, but he had almost completely depleted his energy. He couldn’t just withdraw while the threat was still live, and as such, Goro went back out and fought until he had passed out from exhaustion. The war raged on, while some fellow Kitsune dragged his body back to safety. By the time he had woken up, the war was over. He had heard that the strongest Kitsune was sent to partake in the war, but he didn't witness this himself.
After the war, in light of the news that his parents had passed away during the fight, Gorosei asked to be trained as a formal fighter, so that should anything of that sort happen again, he would be better prepared. They started with basic sword training, and over time moved on to some more advanced fighting skills. He split his time between sleeping, training, painting, and working around the tree for many decades. Gorosei was never officially inducted into the warrior force of the Tree, but the offer has been extended to him dozens of times. Each time he turns it down, because his main goal is not to be a fighter. However, rumors spread around the tree that he was a fierce warrior, word warping and twisting until it made him out to be someone maniacal and fearsome. Over time, these rumors settled down, but their effect still lingers. Most of the Kitsune still feel as if he should be avoided, but they can’t quite remember why.
Once the council decided that Kitsune should be allowed to wander beyond their home without serious repercussions, Gorosei took full advantage of this and began to travel. He always returns to his home, but he does make it a point to try and go outside every now and again.
