Hey guys, heres a place for you to introduce yourself. You might want to include what your favorite field in psychology is, or why you chose to study psychology (assuming you do). Have fun and meet the others inthe guild.

Ok, let me start.
My name is Nicolau, I'm 22, from Brazil.
I finished my Psychology course here last year. In Brazil, it's a 5 year course. In 4 years you get the bachelor degree, and in the last year (which is usually supervised activity), you get the Psychologist degree. With a psychologist degree, you're allowed to do work in any psychology field.
I'm not working at the moment.
In my graduation, most of my activities were directed to Behavior Analysis/Radical Behaviorism (Skinner). I participated for 2 years of a research group about choice behavior, both with humans (monetary choice) and pigeons (concurrent schedules).
I also participated for 2 years of a research group about language development and basic skills teaching on children with autism.
I was a monitor of two classes: Experimental Analysis and Psychology of Development III.
In my last year, I designed a research project about lie detection training and I worked in clinical psychology (behavioral therapy).
That's it, I can go into details in other posts.
I can't really say why I chose psychology in the first place... I started loving it when I started to learn it.
I like almost everything about psychology. I like basic and applied behavior analysis, I love psychoanalysis (mainly Freud), I like research in general, psychoterapy, psychological tests, developmental psychology...
I hope we can have some high level conversation in this guild (as opposed to ED).

Well, I'm gonna go by Yreve aroound these parts and I'm 18. I graduated highschool last year but never went on to college or univesity because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do at that time. BUt I've been thinking about it over the past year and one of my choices already being psychology I've begun taking a greater interest in it. So, I figure while I'm waiting for a couple things to happen before I can really do anything I might as well start learning stuff now to see if this rally, really is a career I'd like to have. So far it still is... and it's just nice to learn somethin' anyway.

Hey I'm Evan, but Dr Funk works just as well. I'm a 22 year old senior college student at Lafayette College in Easton Pa, where I study psychology with a focus on Behaviorism and Organizational Behavior.
I'm currently running a number of experiments in the bahaviorist lab. I'll go into more detail on them in the research thread, but they include Ramp/Setback mutiple schedules in pigeons and rats, stimulis tracking in pigeons and concurrent schedules in pigeons.
I've allways been interested in psychology and find a great deal of pleasure in studying it. I've known that psychology was for me since my early days in highschool.
I currently have no idea what I'm goign to be doing when I graduate in the spring. Graduate school isn't far from my mind.

I'm Alex! I'm 23 and I live near Seattle, Washington state. I haven't studied that much Psychology. When I got my undergraduate degree in Zoology, I was thinking about minoring in Psychology, but I would have had to stay in school an extra quarter! razz I completed about thirty credits of Psychology courses. I remember enjoying Developmental Psychology and Animal Behavior the most. But it wasn't until after school that I started learning about abnormal psychology due to being diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. So, now I learn everything I can about the illness and keep up to date with medicinal research!

J. Starlock, currently aged at 21 years in the physical sense. While my majors in college are biology and art, I seriously thought about doing a biology psychology combination. I ended up not doing that, and am instead taking psych classes as electives since my school dosen't offer psych minors. I'm currently taking a personality class, which has been a lot of fun so far. Every so often I sit in my college library and read some psychology periodicals, so if I come across an interesting study, I'll run it by you guys!
I'm a bit of a proponent for making psychology required coursework in the high school level. Psychology is such an important subject, and yet so little of it is taught at all at the K-12 level! Teaching kids about psychology, I think, would help increase awareness of psychological disorders and both decrease their frequency, increase treatment, and decrease the danger of kids falling prey to dangerous types of people!

Hi, I'm Yasemin. I'm 17, a junior in high school, going through all the the college pressure craziness right now! I've always been very interested in psychology and I plan to major in it in college. At my school we aren't allowed to take the course until senior year so I'm taking a qualifier exam for Advanced Placement Psychology next week. I'm really nervous because 200 people are trying out but only 50 can get in...
I'm still not sure about all the different fields of psychology and what they have to offer but that's why I'm here! I hope to learn what I can from people who know more than I do. =]

I'm Jess, I'm 17 and I'm currently doing my A-levels. I've never had the option of studying psychology (although part of the reason why I study English language is that it briefly touches on the subject). As a result, most of my grounding in the subject has come from reading books, newspaper articles, websites, research papers and the likes. Human behaviour fascinates me, I don't believe that people do things without reasons, no matter how hidden they may be. I just generally like to get to the bottom of things I suppose. I'm particularly interested in abnormal psychology.
Although I'm currently spending most time working on my art, I would like to pursue a career in psychology in the future. I may go on to study psychology at University but for now I'm keeping my options open.

Hello, I'm Civet. It seems many people here have a lot more knowledge and experience than I do with psychology, but I am eager to learn.
I have only taken two psychology courses, both of them were introductory courses, one in high school (which was a bit of a joke) and one in college. A lot of the reading I have done has been on my own, however. I am particularly interested in abnormal psychology, and have done a lot of reading recently on autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
I am an Illustration major and English concentrator at an art school. I am also currently taking a course called "Art as a Source of Healing," where we work with children with psychiatric disorders at a local children's hospital (doing art projects).

Name : Lebbon/Trinh depending on how close you are to me. Age: 17 On the 23rd of March
I wanted to join so I could 'listen' to some psychology instead of the stupid posts you see almost everywhere in the forum. I'm semi-new to Gaia in general, but I can pick things up quickly.
Anyhow, psychology 'stuff.' (technical, aren't I?) I want to do something with psychology when I get older. I've taken psychology/sociology last semester, and my favorite part was probably reading about criminal psychology. Quite odd, I think, that I'm semi-drawn to that. M'oh well. I find it quiet interesting. I think I may be a criminal psychologist when I get a job. But that's too far off to look at, right now, for me.

Hey, I'm Kristina, 19 years old, from Australia smile
I am studying Behavioural Neuroscience at a uni called Monash, and I love it... well I hate the chemistry we have to do, too hard razz Lousy redox reactions.... don't mind me. I've liked psychology for as long as I can remember razz I started becoming interested in neurology since the start of high school, I don't really know why myself. Something about the biological basis of behaviour facinates me.
As you can see in my sig, I'm questing for a neurology guild. At the time I started this, there was no psych guild, and this one just opened up which is great. But I'm not giving up on it, since I'm half way there, and besides I need something to quest for, and I want my very own guild so I can be a control freak, muwahaha razz
Well, that's my relationship with psychology razz About me? Well, I am of type INFP, though I and E often change, depending on the test I'm taking razz I'm on the net quiet a bit, like gaia and stuff. Yapping to people on the phone, going shopping if I have the money, you know, that kind of stuff is what I like. Oh, and nothing like a good game of nintendo. I'm also into retro gaming. I like philosophy, and all things supernatural. I like reading fatasy and sci-fi. As you can tell from my long post all about myself, I am also very self-centered razz

I'm Cat. I'm 16 and have a form of autism called Asperger's Syndrome. I tend to be a little obsessive (and opinioned) about autism. I research mainly abnormal psychology. I write a lot about autism as well. I'm so happy Newsweek quoted me! They didn't give me credit, but I couldn't care less. At least my message is there. "A girl with Asperger's asked for understanding: "I am autistic. I don't want a cure. I want people to accept that I'm different, not diseased". Anyways, I'm babbling, sorry people. ^^;

Hi, my name is Juli, and I'm 14. I've always been interested in psychology, in most forms, and when I'm older I plan to major in it. There are not currently any classes involved in it availabe to me. I think that this guild is a very good idea, I hope it will have more in depth conversations than the ED forum.
