***The Colossus***
The fleet stood ready. All were gathered, ready for the plunge. Just beyond sat the enemy, a mighty Colossus and around the planet was an Interceptor. The fleet knew it would be a hard fight but they had orders; they had to go.
First went the Sacrifice but that wasn't because he had to die. No, with his EMP he needed to march in alone. The others swiftly followed and in good formation they met the enemy in battle; The Colossus opened up with his laser and started carving out a large chunk of shields. So too did the Interceptor open up, he had waited and the Sacrifice was upon him at the planet. Unknown or forgotten a Sentiel on the far side of the sector received the call and began his approach.
The battle appeared to be going well; both the Colossus and Interceptor were down, their electronics sparking and fried. Their crews worked desperately to restore the ships to power knowing that the fleet outside was hammering them with everything they had. The Colossus appeared lost till the Sentinel arrived carving up the one lone Sacrifice. He too was still down and the fleet feared he would fall and began to move to take him down first.
But no. Weapon systems trained first on the Interceptor and soon it was destroyed along with the Sacrifice. The Sentinel wouldn't last long alone against two healthy Battleships but the mighty Colossus was not detered and struggled to catch up.
Soon battle was joined again! One by one ships fell and Colossi repair crews worked tirelessly to keep the mighty ship alive. Believing victory in their grasp the fleet continued to fry the ships systems again and again. They had even brought in transport crews to grab artifacts while the Colossus was busy. It just smiled as it whitled them down. Ship after ship tried to escape but soon the mighty Colossus orbited a dead planet surrounded by the wreckage of a dead fleet.
