Hello! It really is all about the layering and item selection. There are definitely certain items that help that I use very frequently, like the We Thirst arm cutters, but they're not necessary to make a successful halfatar. Here's a few avatars that I made a point to save while in progress, showing a bit more how I build out and sometimes change my mind on the direction I'm going. These examples do have split colored legs, but even that can be worked around with drapey sashes/belts that cover a leg.
