That is an early circle that Ed and Al use*Actually I think Al still uses it* I've seen no particular use for it, I think that its just a basic circle that is used for simple alchemy.

the array is for simple alchemic reactions like when they made the toy horses mrgreen and to Firefox25 al uses a different circle as shown in episode 1 it has three triangles sticking out of the circle
