This is Aylarra's Suite of rooms in the King's Castle.

She's got a sitting room decorated in greens with books piled around the place, a fully equipped bathroom, balcony that overlooks the garden, and a bedroom also decorated in soothing greens.

She really hasn't done much with the rooms beyond setting up the wards and protections that allowed her to sleep and work in peace.

When they arrived at the castle, it didn’t take long for guards to show up with weapons raised but quickly lowered them when they saw who it was, Falcron scooped up Aylarra in his arms after sheathing Celeste and looked at the guards who approached “summon Commander Wren to Aylarra’s room immediately” was all he said as he started walking that way, he could remember where to go which helped and left the two guards bewildered by his command but after a moment looking at each other and then Falcron who was walking away one decided to follow him and the other went after Wren.

As he moved through the castle it seemed eerily quiet, which considering they had lost a king was understandable, he moved quietly through the halls towards Aylarra’s room the guard who was following him not entirely sure what to do and finally spoke up “is she going to be alright?” Falcron just glanced over his shoulder and replied “hopefully, she did a lot in such a short time which should have killed her, we can be thankful it did not” the guard seemed unsure as to what had happened but simply nodded as they neared her room.

Once at the door the guard opened the door for him and allowed Falcron to walk in first and made his way to the bed and before placing her on it and standing there not entirely sure he should be concerned or not, she’d pushed herself to much which was considerable strain, but he would wait for Wren to show up before he jumped to conclusions.

Wren stepped into the room wearing a robe in white with golden rose vines embroidered along the edges and her hair loose and flowing in dark waves down her back. Her face showed the signs of grief that spoke of more than the loss of the king.

She said nothing at first, simply moved to check on Aylarra with a hand on her forehead. She finally stepped back with a shake of her head, "Thank you for looking after her, Falcron. I didn't know she'd snuck out. I knew it was important to her, though. I made sure she read all your reports," she explained while watching the girl sleeping on the bed.

She lifted Aylarra's arm and noted the scar with a deeper frown and gave a heavy sigh as she laid the girl's arm over her waist, "She'll be alright after a good rest. You can sit with her, if you'd like. I was appointed her guardian when she arrived here," she told him simply then finally looked up at him.

She gave a shake of her head, "We lost more than Bowen this time... The Goddess has afforded him Full Rites in the Citadel... Along with..." she paused there and swallowed before continuing, "Along with Ravor and Rowan..." she said it in a soft whisper, knowing that he'd understand that she'd lost her husband as well...

She cleared her throat and moved on, "The entire realm is in mourning. I'll be selecting a new monarch in a few days..." she told him then gave him another nod as she headed for the door.

At the door, she paused and turned back to look at them both, "I should have told you about her, I know. But you wanted your retirement so I honored that. I should have allowed her to go with a full escort, I know. But there were other tasks to take care of first. I just didn't realize how determined she was. She said something about a promise she'd made but I didn't pay attention," she paused there to look at Aylarra with a softer expression, "Ask her about her grandparents when she wakes up..." she added then went ahead and left him with the elf in the bed.

A few more moments and Aylarra gave a soft groan as she started waking up. While she'd been out, it wouldn't be hard to miss the fact that her rooms were quiet, a calm place in a building of constant chaos. It was also a mix that showed her personality so well: the sitting room was soothing tones, the bedroom was done in natural tones with pops of color and texture. There were books and artifacts all over the place. On her side table was a very old handwritten book with tiny portraits and photographs in it that were obviously members of her family. There was a book in the bathroom on trying to tame curly hair, which she hadn't yet figured out yet.

But there were contrasts as well: a set of leather training armor in one corner, a set of enchanted armor in the sitting room, daggers laid out on the bench at the foot of the bed, and a set of daggers under the pillows as well....

Falcron listened to Wren as she spoke understanding the situation fully and didn’t really blame her for not saying anything and watched as she left before turning his attention to the waking up Aylarra and reached over to hold her hand as she did. Falcron was relieved to see she was waking but most of all that she was alright, what had happened in the woods was surprising for him, but most of all it wasn’t something he had been prepared for fully, his gear held true as did Celeste the weapon resting by the bed most of his armor minus his fighting leathers were off to the side where he could collect them later “Are you alright? Wren was here a moment ago checking up on you.”

Aylarra blinked a moment then sat up with her other hand to her head and hissed softly as she closed her eyes again, "Bathroom... Behind the sink mirror... Bottle... One pill. Please," she requested softly.

She just breathed carefully as she heard him get up and move into the bathroom. She didn't get these headaches often. Only when she'd overused her magic. Thankfully, her own elders had been helping with the healers since they'd arrived so no one had asked her any stupid questions the last time she'd gotten a migraine. She'd just gotten dosed and sent to sleep it off. Then Graeneus, one of her Elders had shown up with the bottle, handed it to her, then left her be.

She didn't know what it was, just that it worked fast.

She said nothing as he came back and offered a pill then a glass of water. She took it without question then breathed as she waited for it to work. Just a few more minutes and she gave a sigh of relief as she felt the pain start to fade.

She finally blinked her eyes back open and focused on him with a small smile, "Reaction from overusing my magic... Doesn't happen often anymore, thankfully. The pills kick it," she explained simply as the medicine kicked the last of her symptoms.

She looked over his face and marveled that he was still here, "It worked, didn't it? The forest is fine now?" she checked, needing the confirmation that her spell had worked.

She ignored the grass in her curly hair, the aches she was feeling from getting thrown as far as she had, and the small smudge of blood she'd gotten when she'd cut herself for the spell. She ignored all of that. She also ignored the report of Wren coming to see her. She just wanted to know that the Enchanted Forest was safe again, that it was as it had been intended to be, as her grandparents had created it to be...

She searched his eyes, needing to see the truth there. She desperately needed to know that what they'd gone through had been worth it, that the blinding pain of that spell had been worth it...

She silently prayed that she'd done the right thing... She'd worked so hard to get that spell right... To keep her promise...

She didn't realize that she looked adorable with her hair filled with bits of grass and leaves, curls falling into her face. And yet, she was just as beautiful as any Elf with her

What she found in his eyes was a softness that had been absent previous, before he held a seriousness that told much of the duty he held onto while out in the forest keeping the tide at bay. His words were what gave her the assurance she sought “the forest heals, reports are early but promising that the breach was closed, all that remains are those that already came through but the forest has a way of resolving that given enough time is allowed and a firm hand to guide it on to the path of recovery.” he was no longer in his armor, the scale armor he wore filling a chair off to the side, Celeste braced up against the chair. He wore his simple fighting leathers he preferred to always wear, they weren’t anything serious, a soft leather that allowed for free motion, form fitting, and when wore under the scale armor, allowed for an extra layer of protection not normally present.

His toned muscles were in display even with the leather, it told a story of someone who trained for years and was the make of a true soldier, though his abilities as a spellslinger were as dangerous to himself as they were to his enemies, the toll it put on his body didn’t show, if anything he appeared fresh and ready. His eyes while soft did tell a different story, they told of emotions he didn’t fully understand much less know how to show them properly, he saw Aylarra, truly saw her; she was beautiful and desirable? That was a new feeling for him. He reached for her hand and held it “you should rest until you’ve recovered” he fell back on his norms which was hopelessly the ever-dutiful soldier, his training had made him to be, his attempt at anything resembling affection was clearly something he had no experience in, but the fact he cared and held her hand, on top of his concern that did show was if anything a start but woefully a poor attempt at anything romantic.

Aylarra's smile could only be described as divinely enticing. She held his hand tighter as she gave in to the relief and joy of fulfilling her promise. She relaxed against the pillows for a moment before opening her eyes again to consider him for a moment.

"My grandparents created the enchanted forest. Their bond gave it the magic that kept it safe. She died a few months before we came here. That broke the protections. My grandfather could feel something off but didn't realize what it was until the week before we came here. He was dying and told me about it all. I promised him that I would fix it. He tried to tell me that it wasn't possible without a soulbond to pull from. But I knew I could do it," she explained softly to him, hoping he would understand.

Not that she expected anyone to really understand...

To see her grandparents love for each other...

There was nothing to compare it to...

"I had to do it... I had to fix it," she added in a soft whisper, almost as if trying to justify the risk she'd taken. And it had been a big risk. That spell should have killed her. Add in the King's death AND the transportation spell?

In all honesty, she shouldn't be alive right now...

But it did speak to how powerful she was. She was powerful enough to surpass Wren, which was unheard of...

She eventually tried to push one of her curls away from her face and it caused her to focus on him for some strange reason. Maybe it was because he looked... Approachable? Was that the right word? Maybe... He certainly looked more... Relaxed.

It made her reconsider those books she'd read. They still didn't make total sense to her, but some parts suddenly seemed more appealing while he was sitting there like that.

Of course, she didn't realize that she was blushing enough to turn the tips of her ears pink and her cheeks an enticing shade of red.

She finally turned her golden gaze away from him to look around her room, "You know... You're the only male I've ever had in my room... In fact, I think only Wren has ever been in here..." she frowned a bit as she tried to think of anyone else that could have been in her suite. Not even the servants came in here...

As her frown cleared and she looked at him again, she tilted her head slightly and offered a small smile, "You look better like this... Not as serious... I think I like you here..." she said honestly, not even thinking about the words until after she'd said them. And even then she didn't want to take it back. She meant it all. Even the part about liking him being here...

She'd never considered someone getting involved in her life, even in a temporary scale. Before they passed, her parents had shut down a lot of offers for her, then her grandparents had done the same. Even Wren had knocked down a few offers for her.

She was certainly beautiful enough to turn heads whenever she walked into a room. Her clumsiness did turn off a few, but even Falcron had to admit that it only showed itself when she was distracted. As long as she had someone to keep her on task, she wouldn't have any issues.

She nibbled her lower lip a bit as she looked at him for another moment then pointed to a chest against one wall, "I think the stuff in that chest would be perfect for you. After watching you in action, I think I made it for you without realizing it," she offered simply.

Inside the chest was a set of leather armor decorated with the thorny rose vines of the Golden-Eyed Elves. But, as with everything involving Aylarra, the armor was more than it appeared. As he looked at it with a puzzled expression, she couldn't help but giggle at him softly.

"It'll fit. But in combat it'll protect you better than full plate with chain underneath. And it'll still give you the full mobility of leather. It will also protect you with the rose vines when needed," she explained, hoping that he wouldn't mind the gift.

Falcron held some of the armor in his hand his other he ran across the surface of it before without think took his mage plate armor and his leather armor without much thought, his back scarred from old injuries long past as he put the new armor on and found that it indeed fit him perfectly, it was like a glove which amazed him considering not even his old leather armor was that form fitting. He turned to face her a smile on his face as he spoke “thank you, this is a fine armor that I'll wear with pride” his oblivious reality of what he’d done had shown that he was very fit for his age, he was in fine form, his muscles toned, but past that he had exposed one thing he hadn’t thought much about since it was normal for him, his body had some injuries that weren’t normal from the rest, soul-burns. The curse of being a spellslingers, anytime he used magic that revolved the use of lifeforce magic his life was cut shorter and shorter, and depending on the magic he used it had the side effect of causing what was explained as soul burns to his physical body, they didn’t bother him but they were also a reminder of the risks he took when he used his high level spells over using the lesser evocations for combat that only caused fatigue over the course of a prolonged amount of time had passed, and in some cases, loss of consciousness. His type of spellslinging was very intensive, and it was a miracle that he survived to successfully become a spellslinger. But it was also his reason for always wearing something that could cover his wounds and scars, it was always a interesting conversation when he had to explain what the wounds were, most were from general combat, but the soul burns that took some creative thinking to explain away. Once he had everything on he returned to the bed and sat back down his eyes watched Aylarra for a moment before he spoke again “are you alright, do you need to rest some more?” he had been concerned, and it showed in his eyes, his body posture was relaxed for once in some time.

Aylarra noted the scars and considered the issue for a moment. She knew of the spellslingers, of course. They were an attempt to recreate her own people without the drain. It wasn't considered a success. The cost outweighed the benefits.

But she gestured to her bag, the one she'd had during the trip. When he handed it to her she went digging through it. She wasn't sure why she'd taken the cream with her before...

No, that's not right... She knew exactly why she'd had it with her and why she'd made it to begin with...

"I'd intended to give you this before but I got distracted," she said as she pulled out the small jar of pale cream then motioned him over, "Take the armor off so I can show you," she made the request softly, but he likely knew the futility of arguing with her by now.

Thankfully, he didn't argue and took off the armor and his shirt then sat next to her on the bed. She took a small amount on her finger and concentrated as she rubbed it into one of his scars, "The magic is already in the cream. It should help minimize these over time and prevent more in the future," she said softly, repeating the actions to another scar.

She noted the goosebumps on his skin and laid that down to the cream.

She used the back of her hand to push away a curl that fell into her face. Then she got distracted by his muscles and had to blush as she started thinking about the ideas from those books she'd read...

She finally shook her head slightly and offered him the jar, "I have more of it in my closet. I made it up after I saw you sparring one day. It's specific to help with..." she trailed off, wondering if she'd said too much.

"Oh... Umm... I probably do need to rest a bit more... I think I'll be okay by tomorrow... I'm sure you're probably tired of babysitting me by now..." she stammered that bit out, unable to stop her blush this time.

She bit her lower lip, wondering if he thought she was an idiot...

Of course she refused to admit that she'd basically stalked him before he'd retired... Not that he'd notice her unless she tripped over something...

Falcron was surprised by the fact that she had so much of the ointment made, and equally surprised by the fact that she thought he didn’t want to be there. Falcron didn’t really say anything as he leaned forward and locked her lips with his, a hand gently placed at the back of her head. With a passion he had kept buried, he let Aylarra know just how much he had felt about her. Deep down, he had kept that part of him locked away in the past since she was his charge. It was his job to keep her and those within the castle safe, and he did that job above all else, even denying his heart what it desired most.

When the Morning came, he found himself in her bed, the passion they had for each other no longer suppressed, though a part of him would always wonder just how much longer he had left to live, since his life was long, but short due to his usage of the lifeforce magic, he knew he had a long life still ahead of him but it wouldn’t be as long as any other elf’s lifespan. He wouldn’t let that be a reason for not following his heart and caressed Aylarra’s cheek brushing aside some hair while lying next to her.

Aylarra started to wake up as she felt a hand moving over her cheek, giving a soft sound as she smiled then started to move a bit. She froze when her body protested moving rather strongly. That brought back memory and showed her why she was sore.

The books understated so much...

It probably didn't help that it had been her first time. But she hadn't met anyone else that she wanted to... She couldn't really explain it clearly but it made sense to some part of her. And he'd certainly made the wait worth it for her.

She finally blinked open her golden eyes and gave him a shy smile, "Hi," she whispered softly, her hands moving around him as she searched his eyes for a moment. Part of her wondered if he regretted it, wondered at her audacity for approaching certainly not stalking him.

Of course, another part of her wondered about how soon they could do a repeat performance... But she didn't think about that too hard... Mostly... Somewhat...

And now she was totally thinking about it!

She tried to redirect her thoughts and shifted one of her legs, wincing slightly when her body protested the movement. But she felt that it was worth every pain she was feeling right now.

He'd noticed her. Really noticed her.

She looked up into his eyes as he watched her and found herself speaking before her brain stopped her, "I think I fell in love with you when you got tossed by Wren when you were sparring with her. She said something about you needing to work on your hand-to-hand and you just swore at her before you suggested something anatomically inadvisable with a dagger. I actually sighed. It was as beautiful as your muscles," she told him in a tone that showed how gone she was on him.

Then she realized what she'd said and her eyes went wide as she put her hand over her mouth in shock.

Why did I say that?! It's true, but why did I say that?!

Outside of the main door to Aylarra's apartment, Wren paused to close her eyes, sending out her magic in a touch that no one would be able to feel. She checked the spell she'd been slowly building and nodded to herself before leaving them alone.

The funeral would be tomorrow. They deserved another day to solidify the relationship before things changed.

Inside the room, Aylarra was in total shock that she'd admitted to it out loud. After that particular day, she'd started following still totally not stalking him around the castle. She'd admired him from a distance. And she'd never done anything about it.

There was that one duchess that had tried to come on to him once, but Aylarra didn't think anyone missed her. Or the maid that had tried to sneak into his bed. Or any of the others...

They'd left the castle voluntarily.

There might have been a little bit of... encouragement... But they had definitely left on their own.

Right now, she searched his face and hoped that he wouldn't turn away from her confession. Of course, her internal monologue might scare him off...
