Hello all!
DawnLuna here, hope you all had a great weekend!
On to the new discussion topic! Do you use alternative skin tones / items for making avis?
- Do you like/actively use any items to change your default skin tone? What items do you use? Where they worth the cost? What are some of your favorites?
- Do you use the body dyes from the Skin Tyte gold/plat item Shop? Are those better than the pricey item alternatives?
Some of my personal favorites are the SDPlus dolls that have a skin dye pose.
Definitely going for Inhumaniki and White Body Dye at present.
Here is a selection of items to get you thinking. But it can be anything including furs, scales, or even doll skins.

i'll be honest, i did not know any of these items existed :O
skins used to be only the permanent kind, like the grombies or dark elves, etc. so i never really used them much because i didn't feel that they're as universal as plain human skin, haha. and if you ever changed from them after the event, you lost it forever (though now i think most, if not all of them, have been brought back as potions?)
i think the idea of items having skins is great because you can change them out more freely. i loved the barnacle skins from Captain Ara's Nestegg, the pearl skins from Yemaya's Pearl, the galaxy skin and cloud skin from Padmavati's Lotus, and the white skin dye from Imaginary Friend. now there's so many more options~
initially my brain is thinking that it's so wasteful to go buy a potion to change my skin with every avatar, but i went and looked at the prices and it's literally 1p, lol. it might be a little more inconvenient to get the dyes and potions, but some of the items linked are up in the +100kp range and/or are unlisted

I typically don't use skins very much. Usually because I am also using a leg/arm pose and the special skins don't always work with them.
I do like the pink alien skin though. I have seen some really cute avatars with that and a lot of the leg/arm items work with it. It is just so expensive crying
It sucks that the potions aren't multiple use...I would be happy to pay 500p if I didn't have to buy one from the shop every time I wanted to change skin. If they were just in my equipable inventory I would probably remember to use them more.

It was a few other users who really had to explain it to me what was going on haha and then I became obsessed with them~ Same with body mods though, because I had left before all of that. Yes I think they are potions now, mostly. Padmavati's Lotus and Imaginary Friend are two of my favs! Those are great items. I agree! But also for me that extra step means I never go buy a potion where as with an item I know its there and I just use it. Like this one  I use soo often and it has better shading than the default counterpart. But thats also why they charge soo much for them, I guess is convenience. whee

Yes, I do it alot actually. In fact, my current avi is a Neko cat_xd I forgot the temp part hah I remember when uncanny from was unlisted! Thats a great one, first one I got when I came back.

I've used them very occasionally, but only spooky/witchy purple avis. Changing the skin to a purple, grey, or blue makes for a nice effect with those.
I also have a couple of the older items that have those like "corrupted" looking skins in them. The only problem with those is finding leg/arm mods that match and don't break the avi.

Vosca I've used them very occasionally, but only spooky/witchy purple avis. Changing the skin to a purple, grey, or blue makes for a nice effect with those. I also have a couple of the older items that have those like "corrupted" looking skins in them. The only problem with those is finding leg/arm mods that match and don't break the avi. Yes they make great Halloween avis! Ohh older items are hard to find mods for, for sure! I am so surprised I haven't heard anyone using the oniki, nekuro, or alruna skins around here; I use them so often and they have a lot of mods.

once you go thru 30+ diff skins in a month (runway challenge, viewable in my gallery wink wonk) everything is possible ^♡^
i use F most of the time but when it comes to default fantasy my choice is Cicero, i just really like the color and how it looks in my style of avis. have no luck with other fantasy skins tho (vampire is a-ok).
generally i like some color in my skins so pure paper white doesn't rly appeal to me. my favorite non default skins are: alruna (im wearing it rn), sable, fly with me, the onis, lawful master, among others. i like oniki in theory but in practice whoa it is loud as hale. so i do prefer more muted colors so i can apply them myself...

I realize now I could have made this clearer but yes! Thats what I was getting at! I dont change from default skin F either since I always use items. Cicero is a great one! I agree about the pure white and there are so many avis like that... I loove fly with me, but its so rare to see and even rarer to buy! Omg you have a lovely gallery! It looks so much like mine haha just a ton of avis I love it.
