A small, one story building, home for Draklai stands on the outskirts of town, but still within walking distance to a grocery store, and a repair shop. a good thing, as Draklai's car is sporatic in it's ability to work. It's only a short drive from the "Enchanted Dragons" store, as well. Inside the house itself, you first come on a brightly lit hallway, painted a plae blue, with swirls of lighter and darker shades of blue. to your left is a door, leading into the kitchen, with all your basic kitchen necessities. It is painted a mellow beige tone, with discreet sponging in a slightly lighter shade. There is also a sliding glasss door that leads out to the small back yard, with a high fence and a inexpertly poured square of cement for Hayim to play, and flame. There is also a small, convwerted koi pond, which is now home to Kresania, Draklai's FenFin. Across the hall from the kitchen is another door. This one leads into an all purpose room, usually refered to as the TV room by Draklai. The walls are a dark red shade, though windows and lights never let the room get too dark, and a computer, sitting on an antique desk, is on the wall near the door. on the wall adjacent to the computer wall, a flatscreen TV hangs. It was a housewarming gift from a combination of friends and family. Located across from the TV is a conveniently placed couch, a maroon shade to complement the walls. Across from the computer is another door, this one leading into a small bedroom; for guests, mainly. The walls are a warm yellow, and a small bed is covered by a bedspead with flowers of the same color. Following the hallway further, you come to a turn. Left leads you to the door to Draklai's bedroom, painted a nice purple on two walls, and a lime green on the other two. The bed has a bedspread to match the green, while a overstuffed armchair matches the purple. Hayim has claimed the chair as her bed. A door on one of the green walls leads into a bathroom with sea green tiles and splotchy blue walls. A door across from the one leading to the bedroom reveals a large walking closet, painted to match the bathroom, with a random stool, and enough shelves to hold clothes for a family. the cat, Lion, can often be found sleeping on one of the shelves. If you turn right in the hallway, you soon reach another door into the TV room.

I slam the door shut, calling out, "I'm home!" even though I doubt my cat will really care. In my arms I clutch a reddish dragon plushie, and I stop and snuggle it for a moment before setting it down on the couch. I wave at it lovingly- I can get a bit ovwer attached to random objects- before going off in search of Lion. Knowing him, he's sleeping int he closet, on my dry clean only sweaters. And shedding.

"There you are!" I cry out, swooping down on Lion, who is sprawled out on my bed, taking up far more room than the laws for physics should have ever allowed. Lion ignored me. I pick him up, ignoring his surprised yawl, and carry him over to the couch, where I set him down next to Hayim. Unsurprisingly, the plushie doesn't move. Lion glares at me- if looks could kill, I would be dead- and curls back up, pretending to be asleep, though one eye remains open and focussed on me. we have a love/hate relationship. When I'm in the kitchen, I am beloved. When I am not, I am ignored as beneath his notice, unless what I am doing perdains directly to his comfort, or the fullness of his belly. I am far, far too cheerful to allow Lion's catlike moodiness to affect me, though. I pick up Hayim, and dance her around on the fat orange cat's back. "Who's a good kitty? Who wants to play with the dragon?" I coo. Lion, if anything, shuts his eyes tighter. "The dragon wants to play with you! Rawr!" I pretend to make Hayim eat Lion. This is simply too much for his dignity. With a hissing threat directed at the plushie, Lion leaps of the couch and runs ou the door,a streak of orange fur. I shake my head in mock- sorrow. "Some people just don't know how to have a good time!" I say sadly to the plushie, holding her in front of my face. "Guess it's just me and you." I set Hayim on the couch, and rotate so I am facing the TV. It takes me a minute, but I find the remote (on top of the TV where it's supposed to be! Now how did it get there?!) and flick on the power, settlign down to watch some random show. Huh. Dragons! What a coincidence!

Lion looks around carefully, and, upon seeing no sign of the red terror that had whirled through the house not too long ago, jumped down nimbly from the highest shelf in the closet. Still looking somewhat suspicious, he continued to mince around the house, keeping a wary eye out for the creator of the mischeif that had turned his life upside down. He was supposed to be in charge, not some mangy upstart of a dragon!

I race Hayim out of the car and into the house, allowing her to win by a little bit just as we reach the door. I can't believe that she's an adult already! I'm not concerned about the neighbors seeing us; they're all considerably older than me, and have nice, respectable jobs that keep them away all day. I slam the door shut, and Lion leaps off the couch and runs into my room; he stil hasn't gotten over his fear of Hayim, though she hasn't tried to play with him in about a week. It's amazing how much more mature she is!
I wanna practice flaming. Hayim announces. I grin, and run to open the sliding door off the kitchen. The small yard was fenced when I purchased the house, and I never bothered to take it down; nice for Hayim, sinc ehse was free to romp without worrying about anyone to see her. Recently, I had inexpertly poured a large "square" of cement, fo rher to practice her fire breathing abilities. Since I had purchased them for her as an adult, she had the full ability, but not the practice to match.

Hayim runs out side, leaping with quite bigger strides than nomal, due to some unconcious use of her levitation powers, and skids to a stop on the cement block. It's a wonder to me that she doesn't leave tire tracks. Bracing herself, she goes cross-eyed for a second, before a foot-long stream of fire shoots out of her open mouth. Good job, Hayim! I call warmly. It's the longest controlled flame she ahs managed yet. Kresania pokes her eyes up from the pond, blowing bubbles into the water. At least she didn't hit me this time. she mutters.Hayim glares. That was my first time! It's not my fault I didn't know I could shoot all the way across the yard! she "shouts." I hadn't realized it immediately, but Kresania and Hayim were able to comunicate without having to use me as a "translator"- well, other than when they were really pissed at each other. Girls! be nice! I call, even though I was trying not to laugh. The incident had been rather amusing, although it had left a streak of the yard where the grass is now burned to a crisp. Fortuantely, I was able to put the fire out before someone called 911.

I walk in, cheerfully slamming the door behind be, and holding two masks and a basket in my arms. girls! Look what I got! I call, even though I know that Kresania is outside, and Hayim is probably there too. She has been rather obsesed with practicing her flaming recently, and it has paid off. setting the basket down carefully on the kitchen table, I take the two masks outside, where I see that I was right in my assumtions about Hayim's location. Hayim! Catch! I shout, throwing it high on purpose. She leaps up, and has to use a bit of her levitation to actually grab that chickie mask I flung at her. turning, I toss the bani mask in teh direction of Kresania's koi pool, and with a graceful leap, she catches it before sinking back into the water. Knowing that the mask wouldn't last long inside the water, I had got it laminated before I returned home, and same with Hayim's mask; you just never knew.

Cool! Hayim shouts, puting the chickie mask on eagerly. In her hurry, it went on upside down, but she righted it quickly. Kresania put it on with a bit more equanimity, getting her bani mask on straight the first time, but still excited. Thank you, Draklai! she said, diving underwater and coming bac up, exploring her pool with the seeing impediment of the mask. Laughing, I went back inside to make dinner, but not before calling, Hayim! Don't flame with that on! if she could burn a strech of grass to a crisp with being able to see, imagine if she couldn't.

Girls! I have to go get the car fixed! I yell, firat at Kresania and then at Hayom, both of whom are just waking up. I get muttered replies, and, after warning them not to kill each other, I leave. after waiting a moment to make sure I'm gone, Hayim leaps off her chair, and runs to go get her chickie mask, which she left by her place at the table. (We ahve a special, low table and twoo extra wide chairs, so that Hayim can sit, and Kresania too, if she so chooses. ) Sliping it on, she runs into the closet, where Lion is asleep. She leaps at him, causing him to yowl, and run out the closet door. Hayim laughs, and trots out of the closet, setting her mask on her "bed" and going to sleep on top of it.

I return to find Hayim occupying herself with the TV (she has long since figured out how to turn it on and off, though changing the channels do give her a bit of trouble) and Kresania sleeping in her pond, curled up in her "nest" of smooth pebbles. I decide to follow Kresania's example, and, after putting the groceries I purchased away, put on my pajamas and climb into bed. About a minute later, Lion pads into my room and leaps onto the bed as well, curling up in the space between my arm and my body. Rolling over so I am curled around the fluffy orance cat, I am soon fast asleep, not even noticing when Hayim comes in about ten minutes later and curls up in "her" armchair.

Kresania swims around in her pond restlessly, extremely bored. It's that kind of day; nothing seems interesting. Hayim had felt the same way, and had got to go to the Enchanted Dragons Store; although she wouldn't admit it, Kresania wished she could go, too, but it was hard for her to be out of water for that long. stupid dragon. she muttered sulkily. At one point, she remembered there had been a place for the FenFins to congregate, but no one went after their egg had hatched, and it was as good as deserted. Finally, for lack of anything else to do, she climbed out of the pool and lay on a smooth rock that lay beside her pond, and sunbathed until she got dry. She usually liked to be in the cold water, but warm was nice too, sometimes.

Lion wanders around the house, looking for someone to scratch his belly. Mroow? he suggests hopefully, but of course, no one answers.

I dash in through the door, grabbing my backpack (containing everything I could possibly need, and left over from school days) and petting Lion quickly before poking my head outside. Kressie, I have to go in for a little bit; Hayim stayed at the store, but I'm not sure when I'll be back. I call. Kresania grimaces. But I'm bored! she complains. And don't call me that. My name is Kresania. I ignore her, running back inside and letting Lion into the yard while I'm at it. mroow! he exclaims, hissing at Kresania; she is far too wet for his taste. And besides, he holds a grudge against the invasion of his "snack bar;" he enjoyed the koi who had previously inhabited the pond.
