☾ Age 12✶
Emily Evan Both
Being twins they had spend their life in the same room. Different beds, each half decorated to their own genders. But always in the same room. Always together.
But for their twelfth birthday, their parents away and their grandparents on a vacation... the Aunt that was staying with them chose that they were now old enough for their own rooms. Coming home from their programs that day, they found their normal room stripped bare. Evan held onto Emily as she was near crying as they walked further down the hall. Rooms on either side now marked with their names. Their Aunt coming up to them.
"Welcome back! And happy birthday. Look at you two, becoming adults now." A chuckle, the same chuckle the twins have always hated.
I don't want this.
Don't worry, our grandparents will right it.
They viewed the rooms, even the decorations were different... the clothes were different...
Everything was less child and more adult.
But to make matters worse, each was set up with a meeting with a child of the other gender. Adults talked about arranging relationships...
it was a hard week to get through. Even harder since Emily's suitor was much older than she was, and ready to wed once she was of an approved age.
Evans was younger by a few years.
Both twins were queezy at what was pushed on them. So much so that Emily had an outburst, Evan took her hand and pulled her away, both went and hid in the closet of their old room.
Both were punished by their aunt.
Both were then locked into their own rooms for the remainder of the week.
Both were forced to say they preferred their rooms over the shared space.
Both would sneak into their old rooms closest, the only safe space to have actual human like emotions. And neither would forget today.

☾ Age 13✶
Emily Evan Both
Evan and Emily studied the piles in front of them carefully. Each at their own table, facing away from each other. Each with their own teachers. Every now and then a swack could be heard as a ruler came down. Evan never made a noise, but Emily would each time.
It frustrated him... he was the smarter one, so why were they making her do the work he was good at...
After the lesson he carefully wrapped up her fingers, and was going through the lessons. In this year they learned that their feelings that they felt could also send words. It was simple at first, but Ev was able to help Emily through the lessons.
Suspecting cheating, they would move the twins further and further apart. Though the more they attempted to space them apart, their bond only became closer.
Until one day while running away, Evans frustration and Emilys fear had the two discovering they were indeed their fathers children.
As there stood Evan, with Emily as a blade in his hand. Not understanding anything, he hugged her close to his chest and ran. Ran to the room, to their hidden closet. The one their parents put in as a secret place. No one else in the family knew of it. He wrapped her in a blanket and balled up next to her, Crying from all the emotions. By the next morning, Emily was slumped over him, human once again.
In secret they continued to test such abilities out. Training together, smiling together, having something together once again.

☾ Age 14✶
Emily Evan Both
Another year of age, and more expectations placed upon them.
This time with each going to their own private schools based off gender. It took a while, however soon they were able to communicate again. Small bits, feelings at first. General thoughts after. Evan excelled in his grades and athletics. Emily excelled in athletics and popularity. Her social skills bloomed, but she was in and out of the consolers office. And though seemed popular, refused to let others get closer to her.
The summer was spent together, their new found athletic abilities allowed them to practice with the blades even more. Swapping between each other as they continued to grow in ability.
As they practice, the family traditions were continued. Parties and gatherings, more lessons... more swacks to the back of hands. However they were now having Emily stand, so they could smack the back of her thighs. After all, they were still attempting to show her off, knowing it was only a few years before they could marry her off to expand the families influences.
Evans frustrations continued in silence, and he continued to push further. More books, more studies... He had to be better. He had to do more. He had to protect Emily. Her smile was dimming, and he couldn't see it go away. Though quiet, he became more aggressive in his want to progress. To show his family that he will take responsibility for where Emily can't.
A deal was struck, and he had till they all met again next summer to show them the fruits of his labor. Or else they wouldn't entertain any more of his wild and childish ideas.
It was the first time Ev was able to shift his own arms into blades. His anger and pain in his heart fell many tree's before he'd feel Emily calling him back. The two would curl up in the closet, their last night before returning to school again. Soon they'd be too big to do this... he was running out of time.
