"Ryo" "Bubby" Counting the days felt like he was counting down to a death sentence. A terrible thing to say about his upcoming nuptials, he knew, but what else could Ryo say about a match orchestrated by power-hungry elitists? Or as he would soon call them, his “in-laws”. There hadn’t been much talk with Altagracia about what would come of her parents after their marriage, but Ryo hoped it didn’t entail them furthering their investigations into the castle, trying to dig up more dirt in order to continue pulling his strings.
As the wedding grew closer, Ryo found it harder and harder to have moments alone. Including those with Bubby since it was important to have a cleaner image as the wedding approached. Thankfully, the duchess’ parents didn’t have full control of the wedding, allowing him some freedoms as to what he wore and the decor for the “celebration”. However, Ryo had admittedly found disinterest in both matters, opting for the last moment to secure the perfect flowers for the wedding. Thus, Ryo wandered the academy’s greenhouse in the hopes one of the roses or tulips would call out to him with some sign he was truly doing the right thing.
Since it wasn’t class time, there were limited people present, allowing Ryo to be with Bubby for the moment. The prince liked the idea of having someone to spring ideas off of, even if it was, in fact, himself. Ryo would have brought his brother, but he knew it would have just led to another argument and Harue… Ryo didn’t want his sister to have to bear witness to the torment he was facing as he tossed his heart to the side for the sake of his family’s security. The girl wasn’t a child anymore, but Ryo still wanted her to believe true love and soul mates existed.
So limited interactions with his peers outside of his family that left… Bubby.
Using his powers to have the puppet walk around with him may have seemed strange to most, but to Ryo, it felt like the most normal thing about the matter. Looking at the roses, Ryo turned his face, almost laughing aloud at the idea of something meaning passion and romance being used in his and Altagracia’s charade. The daisies, however, presented another issue, being too friendly and “sunshining”. This task was proving to be more and more taxing than he originally realized.
As he prepared to give up and assign one of his servants to the matter, Ryo realized he was not alone in the greenhouse. Not far away was a girl with icy white hair and a stare that scared Ryo. Unsure if it was safer to leave or remain still to the femate predator, Ryo opted to send in his companion in his stead to say the words he couldn’t form. Ever brave, Bubby walked up to the girl, tapping her on the back of the knee, " Excuse me, ma’am, you wouldn’t happen to work at this establishment? My friend here needs assistance." Ryo remained frozen, unsure as to how the unknown woman would react to Bubby’s casualness and hoped she wouldn’t scream or run away in fear.

As the weather began to grow colder, Inessa found herself spending as much time outside as she could. It was marvelous to be able to come and go as she pleased. Her favorite place to go was, obviously, the pond where she was free to skate as much as she liked. But, there was also a new location that her handmaid had informed her about during one of her outings. A place full of beautiful greenery, most of which neither of them had ever seen in their lifetimes. So, of course, the ice princess just had to see what all the fuss was about. And if it didn’t work out, she knew she could always dance it out on the ice for as long as her heart wanted.
Thankfully, for Anya anyway, the greenhouse had been a hidden gem that pulled at the curiosity within the princess. She’d never seen so many colors. Had never smelt so many fragrances. There were big ones and small ones. Shades of green she’d never witnessed in her life. It was almost overwhelming in the sheer volume of it all. And yet, Ness couldn’t bring herself to stop visiting. Each time, she found a new plant to study. She’d even started bringing a notepad, just so she could scribble pictures of the plants and bring them to the library to search the books for more information. She was more than certain she was annoying the librarian with her requests to find such things, but she couldn’t be stopped. She was a dog with a bone and refused to give up until she learned all she could.
On this particular day, she was kneeling down recreating the pot of brilliant fuchsia colored petals onto her paper. It did not do the plant justice, but it was sure to be enough. The patterns on them were so different, like a splattering of ink on a canvas. None of them made sense and they pulled at her in a way that had her wishing she’d brought a better medium. The urge was almost too much to ignore, her body shifting to put her back up onto her feet in search of Anya. If she could get the other woman to get her what she needed, she was sure to be able to capture them properly. Then Mr. Thompson would be able to give her precise locations of the books that would tell her all about the flowers. It was a win-win!
What she hadn’t anticipated was to find herself no longer alone within the glass walls of the greenhouse. Her eyes narrowed on the man a few rows down from her, the way he watched her reminding him of the beasts that were hunted around the castle. Startled, cautious, and unsure. A snowy brow rose slightly as she wondered what she’d done to scare him, only to have the other rise at the tap of something on her leg. Her icy gaze shifted to look down, spotting the puppet that was looking up at her as if it were normal to see him standing there. What in the hell was going on?!
When the little creature began to speak, surprise flashed in her eyes. Wait, it could talk? Without the need of a puppeteer or….Wait! Her head snapped back to where the man was standing, seeing that he hadn’t moved in the slightest. Was this his doing? It made sense, but it was either a really good trick or a show of power she’d never seen before. More than a little curious, she flipped the pages of her notes closed and pressed it to her chest. Her arms wrapped around it as she looked back to the puppet, shaking her head at his question.
”I am not the servant for the greenhouse. Or any place, for that matter.” She left it at that before once more looking back at the man, speaking directly to him rather than the little man that he was using to talk to her through. ”My name is Inessa Fetilsvell, and I am one of the students here at Utopia. Who might the two of you be?”

"Ryo" "Bubby" The way the woman looked at Bubby, it was hard for Ryo to tell what her true feelings were. It was either curiosity or disgust, and while Ryo was used to them both, he preferred it was the former. But as long as she didn’t kick his best friend with disgust, it was a win in his opinion. There were so few people who took a positive interest in Bubby outside of his family, including his fiancée. The woman found Bubby to be rather… disturbing. Ryo figured this was a major source of her displeasure. Coupled with her love for his brother, the whole thing was a disaster.
As the woman shook her head no, Ryo listened in more to see what she had to say to the wooden creature. A small flush of red splashed across his face as he realized he was mistaken. A further look at her garb could have told him as much. Her bright purple garment was a sign of wealth and royalty. The color was rather difficult to obtain, given the pigments required for it, but it was a color Ryo felt himself drawn to. Dark tones were often something Ryo found alluring, but he tried to stop himself from staring at the woman for too long for fear she might catch him.
Her name was something that left Ryo a bit shocked, as it was one he recognized. The girl was one of the members of the Hyouden family, either a princess or a duchess, based on his previous research. Worse of all, she was looking for a reply from him. It was easier to have Bubby do it, but now that she had spotted him, it felt embarrassing to continue using him. Walking out of the shadows, Ryo came by Bubby’s side, " Ryo Fushiguro, a pleasure, Lady Fetilsvell." He spoke, bowing his head before looking back at her.
" And this is my- uh," Finding the proper explanation for the Hyouden woman lost him as he looked down at the wooden lad, " Bubby." The puppet answered as Ryo nodded in agreement. Looking back at the woman, Ryo felt himself wishing he were smaller so it would be easier to hide away from such an intimidating creature. Her icy eyes seemed to stare right at him, as much as Ryo wished they would return to his friend instead.
Now in front of her, Ryo feared what to do next as to not wanting to displease her. " I apologize for the misunderstanding, I am just trying to find some flowers for my fiancée." The more the words flowed out, Ryo was surprised how easily it was coming along. There was no worry of embarrassing himself because he was to be married soon anyway; his feelings were going to be locked away forever after that. It was only a matter of time before he got used to it.
" I understand you don’t work here, but given your book, I feel like you might be able to provide some assistance."Especially since she will hate whatever I pick out anyway. His last thoughts were too himself but it was a small blessing that Inessa was here. If she was willing to aid him, he was sure to make it worth her while, however she needed.

talking ★ thinking
The bright shade of scarlet that took over the man’s features had her lips twitching slightly. So few of his gender showed such an expression. Even less from her kingdom, considering the level of chill that engulfed the place as a whole. It was interesting and had a desire to do it again racing through her. Nessa controlled it, of course, and tipped her head to the side slightly when he moved to join his wooden companion. The last name struck a cord in her head, taking her back to the history lessons she’d been given growing up. Unable to resist, she ran her icy gaze over him more closely and stepped in his direction to get a better look.
”Fushiguro, you say? I know that name. It would seem that the pleasure is mine, Lord Fushiguro.” Easily returning his bow with a curtsy of her own, she dropped her head in greeting before returning to her full height. His introduction of the puppet brought her eyes to the being, interest returning to have her repeating the gesture to him as well. It might have been silly to do had they been in court, but out in the greenhouse she was free to do as she pleased. Mostly, anyway.
”It is pleasure to meet you as well, Sir Bubby.” Since the creature had introduced itself to her, it was only polite to respond in kind. Inessa bowed her head in greeting as well before shifting her attention back to Ryo. His comment on having a fiance had a snowy brow raising slightly, rather impressed that he was willing to come and get the woman flowers on his own. Most royals had people for that kind of thing. Maybe he was more chivalrous than most? It was a possibility, but she kept the thought to herself.
”There is no need to apologize, Lord Fushiguro. This is our first meeting, so misunderstandings are expected.” Granted, she wasn’t dressed like a commoner, but she wasn’t going to fault him for it. She was walking around with a book in her hand, minding her own business, so assumptions were sure to be made. When he spoke again, however, her expression shifted and amusement pulled at her lips once more. He was asking another woman about flowers for the one he was supposed to marry? Perhaps it was a political match, because anything else would have her opinion of him souring rather quickly.
”Flowers, like women, are unique and have more layers than most realize.” As she spoke, Ness reached out and trailed her fingers over the orange petals of the plant directly to her right. ”To ask about them from someone you do not know, well, that will not be much help. One must first know about the woman in question. Is she bold and brilliant?” Her fingers flicked the Funkazan fire lily she’d been touching, making it wave at him as her lips twitched for a third time. Yeah, she was enjoying herself, but he had asked, hadn’t he?
”Or is she soft and demure? Perhaps shy and quiet?” Her hands shifted the notebook she had pressed to her chest as she continued to watch him. The fingers of her left hand stirred the opalescent petals of the Lunarian moonflowers on her other side, bringing them to his attention though her gaze never left his. ”To pick flowers that will win the heart of your betrothed, there is more to ask then which is best. Can you tell me more about her? We can narrow it down, if you’d like.” It was an open ended offer, one she was more than okay with him shooting down if he liked. If he refused to tell her more about his fiance, she’d just tell him to go with the universal roses that most men paraded around the court ladies. If he gave her more, though, she’d happily help in whatever way she could.
