Quote: Vaclaytion (9) : With rain brings mud, which on its own isn’t particularly worrisome in a place like Destiny City. Unless you find a strange, thick, mud puddle in a fairly odd place. On the surface, it seems pretty straight forward–it’s a dirty brown, clay-like sludge that smells like earth. It just acts like something else. Step too close, and it moves. It grabs. Out of the puddles and patches of dark clay, a near-human shape unfurls and reaches an arm-like appendage out for the nearest living creature. With impossible strength, it can pull anyone into its mucky form. A hard clay shell immediately begins to form, capable of fully encasing someone in a matter of seconds. People have been found fully trapped. The only way to break out is for someone to chip away the clay, to somehow manage enough force to break it from the inside, or to pray a hard rain will soften it up enough for you to escape. It’s a wonder no one has suffocated yet. No one seems to remember what happened clearly–or if they do, it’s too impossible to believe. Ultimately, it’s a horrible experience; even if your skin feels oddly refreshed, this is the worst mud bath you’ll ever have. Tyndareus had had a lot to think about lately. He'd poured over the database's results on reincarnation in senshi several times, taking important notes and bullet pointing questions he had that he might address with some fellow Senshi—perhaps ones that had started out in the White Moon before seeing the light and corrupting to the Negaverse, pledging to save Earth instead of focus on what came before them. Though... perhaps they wouldn't enjoy reminiscing. Dwelling on the life they'd given up to be who they were now wasn't likely to be something they wanted to do. On the other hand, they might find it suspicious he was asking these questions, as though he might choose to participate in a so-called "purification" and "cleanse" his starseed from the influence of the Negaverse. He would never, and yet, he had to acknowledge it was a possibility the others would have to consider. It seemed like a tough situation, but he was certain he'd be able to navigate it somehow. So lost in his thoughts, he wasn't quite paying attention to his surroundings. Not until he was ankle deep in a very strange, very sudden mud... puddle? Could one call it a puddle when it wasn't very wet? It felt more like actual quicksand, not the silly movie kind. Alas, he only had a second or two to think about this at all, because almost immediately, the mud began to climb up his body. Hastily he tried to jump free of his boots and exit the mud, but it was already too late. The strange mud, in a reverse of what quicksand usually did, pulled itself up his body, completely coating him. He had enough thought to suck in a deep breath before it encased him and hardened, leaving him stuck in an unnatural position. Well. Isn't this a pickle. What the hell was he supposed to do against this?

Industria had decided that, tonight, she was feeling mildly social. That was unusual, when it came to people who weren't Preston or a very limited number of others (she did rather like the Kaynes, they tended towards the delightful) but if she intended to succeed in the Negaverse, it seemed obvious that she needed to make connections.
A fellow Negaverse Senshi, then, was ideal for seeking out--though when she got close, she felt a moment of confusion. There didn't appear to be anyone in the area--and of course aura sensing wasn't precise, so maybe she had just misjudged, but--she looked around again, and spotted a strange figure.
A statue, almost, except sloppy, more mud than proper clay, and certainly not finished enough to be displayed in public, which meant--oh.
Even given Destiny City, the stories she'd heard on campus of people getting trapped in mud and made into temporary statues had seemed fanciful. But this, it seemed, might just be one of those, with her fellow Senshi contained within.
"Is there someone in there?" She rapped on the chest, though she had to admit, she wasn't sure what kind of response she expected. "Hold on, I'll see about getting you out."
At least she had more strength as a Senshi than as her ordinary self. Industria brought back her fist, and smacked it into the center of the "statue's" chest, hoping that enough pressure might begin to crack the muddy coating.

Tyndareus felt relieved when he sensed another corrupt senshi lingering nearby. Aura sense was so strange, but so, so useful—if this one felt him and came to help... He could have screamed when she knocked on the mud encasing his body, if only the mud had allowed him to. I couldn't respond if I wanted to, you idiot, he thought viciously. Ugh. At least she had realized this, and simply said she was going to get him out. The punch definitely weakened the mud, and a good portion of the stuff molded around his torso crumbled away. It allowed a small amount of air in, the expansion of his lungs, so he could breathe again. Small mercies. He attempted to twist and wiggle, but didn't get very far. "Can you peel it away?" he asked through his clenched teeth.

Honestly, Industria sort of didn't want to destroy the clay sculpture in front of her. Part of her was taken in by the potential of it, the curiosity--could the subject breathe in there? How long would they last? Would it eventually crumble on its own, and would that be before or after the subject suffocated?
Unfortunately, she was already committed to assisting, and sitting back to observe when there might be troublesome consequences as a result seemed like a terrible idea. He was on her side, after all, and if he did survive, she'd undoubtedly have to answer questions.
Perhaps she would get lucky, and find someone else similarly encased that she could observe. For now, she hooked her fingers under the cracks she'd made, and began to pull off chunks of clay, starting upwards toward the face.
"I can peel it off. You should probably close your mouth," she warned, "unless you want to find out what this tastes like."
Once his face was freed enoguh, she turned her attention to prying the clay further off his torso.
"How did this happen?" She asked, conversationally. "Such a strange phenomenon--I'd love to understand it better."

Breathing was so much easier when he could actually open his mouth. He sighed in relief, and then as one of his arms slowly came loose, he began helping carve himself out of the mud that had encased his body. The more they pulled away, the faster it came apart on its own, until he was finally free and clear. He stepped away from the gunk, ensuring he was on very dry land, before he turned to his rescuer to answer her. "It was a boring, plain mud puddle, until it wasn't," he informed her. "Once I stepped in it, it rapidly crawled up my body in large quantities, until I was thoroughly coated, unable to move, and then dried and hardened. I'm grateful you came along when you did. I'm not sure if I would've lasted very long."

It seemed that, while the mud was quite difficult to escape from the inside, it was easy enough to crack apart, especially once two of them were working on it. When it finally fully gave, she let out a soft sigh of relief, and dusted off her fuku--not that it made all that much of a difference.
It was all under her nails. And on her hands, her arms--ugh. Disgusting.
"What a nightmare," she admitted. She would have to watch for mud--and perhaps she would get her chance to study it if she could push someone on the other side into one of the strange puddles. "You're very welcome, but I think we should both get home and clean up. That was....messy."
Messy. Vile. Dirty. Ugh, she would need a full shower, she decided. Better than scrubbing at her hands for who knew how long hoping she got off all the dirt.
