School-life:
Matthew attended Queen Elizabeth High School in the small town of Hexham during his teen years. Here he grew a sense of his own personality and was a very original person – on the school rugby team and being a raving ‘Emo’. He got stick of his mate because he was on the rugby team and he got stick of the rugby team because of his music taste. Experiencing both styles of life, Matthew grew up very conscious of other peoples feeling and tried to be nice to everyone. When Matthew was fifteen (year 10) he created a band to try and express himself. The band spark up great buzz in the local area and just as they were about to get signed by a nationally known music company, the guitarist dropped out leaving the band is disarray. Aged 16/17 these were the days Matthew had serious anger problems, nicknamed ‘Sparky’ by his rugby coach for his random rages he soon was directed to a councillor. There the councillor suggested he tried a different activity to let out anger but in a controlled way. Wrestling was suggested, and Matthew was keen after watching wrestling all the way through his early teens. He left school after lower sixth to go to wrestling school.
Before GWA:
Matthew took on the wrestling persona ‘Sparky’ from the rugby days, joining it with the second name ‘Giliath’. He explained to his wrestling coach it was like goliath but slightly changed as he was a ‘goliath in disguise’. He trained hard in England and he passed wrestling school with flying colours at 21. He looked hard for wrestling companies in England but after six months of hard luck, his wrestling coach gave him the best 22nd birthday present ever. A flight to the small island of Gaia. Matthew was unsure at first but he was told it had one of the best wrestling federations in the world on it – the BTWF. Before Matthew flew to Gaia, he changed his name to Sparco (he thought Sparky was too unbelievable) Charles Giliath. Soon after his twenty second birthday he flew to Gaia, introducing himself as Sparco. Sparco tried to get shots in the BTWF but wasn’t able to get any TV time. Dumbfounded he wandered the streets of Gaia aimlessly before he saw a small flyer pinned to a lamppost. It read – GWA, tryouts this Saturday.
GWA:
Sparco managed to get TV time with the Gambino Wrestling Alliance and early on started a feud with a wrestling called ‘DoomChyld’. This feud took viewers by storm and headed straight to the top of the federation and for the Grand Championship. The two men drew twice for the title before in the final seconds of the deciding match a cocky individual named Roy Chambers ruined the dream for Sparco. This sparked a feud with Chamber that led to many great matches with was finished in the Gambino Cell Match were Chamber became the first ever Grand Champion. Sparco soon turned his attention away from the Grand Championship and headed for the Openweight Championship – a title much more fitted for his weight class. He won the title and held on to it for almost three months before losing to Cody Bogard. Soon after the loss, the invasion of AoA came – a group of BTWF wrestlers with reputations through the roof. Sparco felt it was personal after feeling dejected after trying to join the BTWF, therefore joined the frontlines against the invasion and now there is full scale war between Team GWA and the AoA.
