New Rule: Mandate's Decree!All right, check this out people! We the crew have been working very hard on this for the past couple of months. This is a new rule that will completely change the way things are done in the RP so pay attention. The basic system of fame and hate is explained below and beneath that I will go into detail about how this will work so check it out!
MythicalYoko
Fame Points:
Fame points are basically points that your character earns by how well they do in battle or acheive some other feat. The more fame points, the more known that your character is known by people and the more that they like you. Fame points will also bring up your rank in the army that you're serving in. This is important because the higher your ranke then the more rolls your side gets at the end of a battle (see the most recent rule before this for what I mean). You can even earn fame points by rebelling against your leader if they're corrupt or inactive.
Hate Points:
Hate points are the opposite of Fame points. You earn Hate points by doing negative things, like stealing and other things. Your Hate points go up as this goes on, and the more that you have the more that people hate you and fear you. Eventually if you get a lot of Hate points your character might even get wanted posters on them. However, your Hate points can be brought down by your character doing a good deed, like how Lu Bu helped Shu win in the battle of Xia Pi."
Fame point gaining for officers and non-leader characters:Officer ranking goes like this:
Seargeant = 0-200 Fame Points
Lieutenant = 201-400 pts.
Vice General = 401-700 pts.
Knight General = 701-1000 pts.
High General = 1001-1300 pts.
Commanding General = 1301-1800 pts.
Grand Commander = 1801-2200 pts.
Supreme Commander = 2201-2500 pts.
If you can max out at 2500 pts then pretty much every person in China has heard of you.
If you defect from your force without any real reason then your Fame goes down and you can possibly be demoted or hired at a lower rank later on. If a leader does not promote you once you reach a new level you will be encouraged to either defect or threaten defection. This will actually raise your FP if you defect because people will hear of the great officer who was under appreciated by Liu Bei, or whatever. For example: Guan Yu is not promoted once he reaches 1800 FP so he decides to leave Liu Bei (not that this would ever happen). Cao Cao hears of this and offers not only the rank of Grand Commander but an extra 100 FP or so.
You also gain fame points by knowing other played officers. To know an officer you basically just have to know their name and they know yours. If you see him passing by while you're in the middle of a battle and you don't get to talk to him then you don't know him. You recieve 100 FP per officer that you know unless you are a leader. Well disguss leaders later.
Doing well in battle will also gain you fame points. For example, if you have a duel with an enemy officer your fame will go up by a maximum of 100 and a minimum of 51 if you win, and will go up a maximum of 50 and a minimum of 0 if you lose. But don't worry, there's also your personal fame gain since you might have just met a new person, so the most you can gain is 200 from this one duel, and the minimum (if you just met the person you fought with such as Guan Yu and Date) will be 100 but probably more. To score a 0 in a duel you would have to make no effort what so ever and would probably have to die, so don't worry about that. The crew is the group that will decide how many FP are given out based on your character's performance. Other ways you gain FP in battle is by executing a good strategy, this is more abstract and requires specific crew attention in order to determine FP.
Fame Points for a Leader:Fame Points given to a leader are similar to how they are given to an officer, but they have more opportunities to gain since they are the leader of the officers under them. How much land they own is a key factor in that they gain 100 FP per city in their kingdom. If a leader or his officer attacks and conquers a city that leader gains 100 FP, likewise if an enemy attacks and gains your city, the ruler of that city loses 100 FP. A leader will also gain FP by defending one of their cities. The number of Fame Points gained by the leader are equal to the total number of Fame Points gained by all of the officers that took place in the battle that fought on his side. Ronin officers that take place in a battle between two forces don't give their fame points to the side they fought on unless they join the force immediately after the battle.
If a leader takes part in a coalition or an alliance then his fame will go up depending on how many other leaders are involved in the coalition/alliance. If it's an alliance between Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Ce, against Nobunaga, then each leader will gain 100 FP per other leader in the group (i.e. each leader will get 200 FP for being with the other two leaders). If an alliance is betrayed and say Cao Cao attacks Liu Bei, Cao Cao will gain Hate Points.
Instead of gaining 100 FP per officer that knows them, leaders only gain half the ammount (50 FP) because obviously every person in their kingdom knows them.
Leader ranks go like this: (Note that the promotion requirement is a little steaper than for a normal officer, this is because it's easier for a leader to gain FP for there are more opportunities)
Lt. Governor -- 0-600 FP
Governor -- 601-1200 FP
Regent -- 1201-1800 FP
Grand General -- 1801-2400 FP
Chancellor -- 2401-2700 FP
Duke -- 2701-3000 FP
Prime Minister -- 3001-3500 FP
King -- 3501-4199 FP
Emperor - 4200+ FP
Fame Point distribution for free officers/ronin.Free officers gain FP by doing the same things as other officers but have no official rank since they are not part of an army. The only way that a ruler has heard of the free officer is if the FO has a higher fame than the leader. This will be difficult to do since leaders can surpass 2500 fame points and regular officers cannot. However, there is a way around this. There are 9 leadership ranks and 8 officer ranks. If you are a free officer and have a Fame of 1100 FP, that would put him at High General status if he were part of an army. High General is the fifth rank up so any leader that is of Chancellor status or lower has heard of him (Chancellor being the fifth rank up for leaders) Emperor can simply know everything that goes on so if a free officer is famous enough to have 2500+ FP then the Emperor will know about it. Just because a free officer isn't famous doesn't mean that he won't be hired by a leader. The leader may hire him and even give him a certain number of fame points, however that free officer might not have earned those FP yet so those FP only apply to the people in the kingdom and will be cut in half for the rest of the land. In other words Keiji Maeda was given the rank of Commanding General so he has 1301 FP, but no one else other than the people of Wu know of him so his 1301 is cut down to 650 for the rest of the land. If he were to leave Wu he would only have 650 and because people may have heard that the man given the rank of Commanding General in Wu's army, left them. That gives him some fame but he might gain Hate Points for leaving.
Hate Points:Hate points are earned by doing bad deeds such as attacking a traveler while he/she is traveling on the road randomly without announcing your presence first, breaking an alliance, betraying your ruler without just cause, killing guards in order to enter a city, etc. These will be given out at the discression of the crew, but not without your input. If you think HP were unfairly dealt out then talk to us and we'll try to work with you. If your hate points surpasses your FP then more people hate you than people know you and getting hired by a ruler will be much more difficult. Rulers can reprimand an officer for having such high hate points and even send assassins to kill that officer if things are bad enough. Liu Bei might let Lu Bu into his city but Cao Cao might not, just keep that type of thing in mind. Lu Bu has a relatively high HP because of, well he's Lu Bu... That should be enough explanation right there.
One can lose HP by simply doing good deeds. In times of peace for a city I will randomly show up playing as a ruffian perhaps, or maybe a burglar or a tiger, and if your officer wants to lose some hate points and maybe gain some (a very small ammount of) fame points then you can defeat me. Take what Uncle did recently in Shu as Xu Shu, if he had any hate points he would have lost a lot of them for uncovering a foul merchant's schemes.
Now I know that this is a lot to read but please take the time to check it out because it is important. Please do not be upset with me or the rest of the crew if you ask a question and this happens to answer that question but because you didn't read it we will refer it to you. If you have a question pertaining to this and the answer isn't clear or can't be found here then feel free to ask any of the the crew and never be hesitent to come to me about it. The crew has a lot of work to do with this and I am recording everyone's post count as of right now for FP gain. Any posts made before today's date will count toward your initial Fame Point Rating. Do not fear though if you have just joined and haven't made too many posts. Periodically we will go through and figure out how many posts have been made since todays date (or the date of the last count) and fame will be given out accordingly. This is an inscentive to keep yourself active for your character will in a sense level up if you keep up with the RP. Feel like that's not fair? Tough. Those who are active deserve a reward of some sort and if you only have one character then perhaps you should either look into getting another character or doing more with that single one.
So, this will be in affect immediately, but if a dice roll is needed before we can determine your rank then just go with what you have now. Good luck and have fun!
