Hi! This is your friendly Guild Captain here, just letting you all know that planting season has started! Since we, as a guild, focus on alternative medicine and (mostly) herbalism and good nutrition, I thought it would be great to offer up an idea for everyone: An HHG Garden! My own garden is currently being tilled and is just -beautiful- right now, so I volunteer it to be one of our gardens of this guild. ^_^

I'll post up pictures and updates as they come and I'm taking suggestions on what to plant! Keep in mind that we're in the Pacific Northwest of the US, so our plants have to grow here- No asking for date palms or prickly pears!

What I suggest is that if you have a garden and a camera (either digital or with a scanner) then join in! We will have sister (and brother) gardens all across the world, all joined in the guild! Post pictures of your garden, planters, window box, or whatever you grow things in, both before and during all aspects of planting, growing, and harvesting. In the end, even people without gardens can be a part of this wonderful operation!

I love gardening, but I have no actual garden. >.o
Since I went to college in my hometown, I've been staying at home with my parents to save money. Now that college is over, I'll be here until I find a job.

We have a huge lawn, but not many flowers, and certainly no herbs. The soil around here isn't that great for growing anything. The most I can manage is a few in ground plants and flowers. I have an old metal washer drum painted white and filled with flowers - but our neighbours cat has decided today to start digging there. Twice today I had to replant the flowers, and after the second time I went out with two kinds of pepper and covered the ground.

I've been trying to find a Bonsai Tree kit for my bedroom. ^^;

Your plants a look very happy! You must give them lots of love.
I wish that I could have a spice garden, but right now my fiancee and I are living with relatives and all we have is one room to ourselves in a painfully commercial area. That means concrete is the only thing that seems to grow here. . .

You might look into a potted or window-box garden. A strawberry pot only takes a sunny corner of the porch or doorstep, and a windowbox can grow quite a range of spices and herbs. Just don't add mint or lemon balm. >> They take over. *laughs*

You know, I thought that actually. Thanks for the tip on the mint and lemon balm.

And you know what? ^_^ It's really awesome, too, to watch something beautiful and alive growing where there's only concrete and sidewalks. You'd be amazed at how many people will notice a beautiful window garden, and the benefits to -you- are incredible. You'll find that you want to expand it and that when you're upset, you can sit there and "weed" (if there's no weeds, you can just talk or sit and touch your plants).

I offer therapy to troubled people in my area... but it isn't what most people think. ^_^ I'm not a therapist or a psych doctor. I'm not even a counselor. But I offer a unique therapy- dirt therapy. When you sit in a garden or around a pot and plant or weed or harvest or just enjoy the flowers, it makes it so much easier to talk.

Dirt therapy is my ONLY therapy anymore. XD

Sitting out in a lovely garden is sometimes the best sort of therapy that a person can have, i envy people who work in garden centres, because they much feel happy all the time, with life sprouting all around them all day.
One day..i SHALL have a garden full of herbs too, hopefully before i retire sweatdrop

Reading your 'encouraging' of that one plant...
Ever tried to hold it and give it your personal energy? My brother and I tried it on one plant. We had two of the same plants, but one grew slower.
Since we did that, it seemed to have surpasses his sibling by far... ^^;;

It's a little magic... energy transfer. If you would try it, be careful though. Magic can be really energydraining if you aren't used to it (and even used to it it's still able)

It's a nice theory... but my dad rototilled it under. >< So no, no more chickweed to encourage. And on a side note- energy transfer I understand. Magic, though... I don't walk that particular path. Sorry. sweatdrop

oh ok XP
well, magic. I consider a lot to be magic. I guess Reiki would be more suiting to energy transfer than magic, but then again, I consider Reiki also as magic ^^; so... I'm just difficult -.-
