~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A Beginner's guide to Astral Projection ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ First of all, we have to know what Astral Projection is. Astral Projection is simply the transferring of the consciousness from the physical body to the astral body.
Now that we know what it is, lets learn how to do it.
Desire: Desire is a big part of Astral Projection. If you only do this because you are curious, you probably wont be too succsesful. You have to want to do this, whether to see someone far away, heal someone, go to crazy places, ect.
Fear: Many people fear that their body will be possessd or that you will die. Know that nothing can happen to you while you are doing this. So unless you die in your sleep from a heart attack or something, you will be safe. To be able to Astral Project correctly, you must face you fears. Know that you WILL come back from this.
Concentration: A hard thing for almost anyone. You have to keep focused and not let your mind wonder. Have you ever just sat in the quiet and heard a high pitched, kinda squeeky noise in your ear? Keep focusing on it. It is said that after about 3 minutes of just focusing on this noise, you will begin to feel the vibrations. Another important thing is, do you think things in your mind like, "I wonder if i'm close", or "This is fun" or something else like that? Try not to do that. It distracts your mind, and you need all the concentration you can get.
Relaxation: To fully get into Focus 10 (body asleep, mind awake) you have to be relaxed. It is hard to Astral Project when you are under alot of stress, or there is alot of things going on in your life. Minimize the noise and clear your mind before you try to Astral Project.
Focus 10: Have you ever not been able to feel your body when you wake up? Like you have to tell yourself "Wake up body" before you can get out of bed? That's what Focus 10 is. It is important to be relaxed when trying to acheive this because if you are too strained, you just "wake up". Try not to actually fall all the way asleep. If you see images flashing across your mind, focus on them, but do not go into dreamy la-la land. Just keep your concentration.
Patient: Being able to Astral Project correctly takes time and effort. You usually cannot master it in a week. You have to practice the concentration and relaxation. This can sometimes take months, maybe years, unless you are one of the special people who has wonderful concentration, and can separate fromt their body very easily. If you are one of those people, good for you! If you are not, be patient and practice. you'll get it eventually.
Ok, now time for the fun stuff!
Separation: There really is no way to prepare for this. It is different for everyone. Error, patient, and trial are the best teachers. However, you can expect to feel some shaking or vibrating. Do not fear, this means you are getting close.
The first time you feel that, you will probably be so shocked that you will throw yourself out of it. If you do manage to hang on, do not fight it. The vibrations mean that you are getting close.
Usually, when the vibrations start, you can raise your astral hands and feet. They are the first to go because there are really no primary chakras there. The head is usually the last part to disconnect. That is because your head holds your strongest connection to your physical body. Sometimes, your head even gets stuck, while the rest of your astral body is just floating up above you. This happens to alot of people, so do not be afraid if that happens to you. There are a few methods to get yourself unstuck if that ever happens to you.
1. Rollout. This is just like rolling out of bed. Let your astral body just fall to the floor. You cannot be harmed, so do not fear rolling out of you body.
2. Arching your back and bucking yourself out. This is just pretty much throwing your astral head out of your body. This takes quite a bit of will power.
3. Grab something solid and pull your head out. It does not matter how far away the thing is, you're just using it like a crutch to get your head out.
4. Rise and move. You can usually just "will" yourself out of your body. With time, this gets easier. Kinda like how elastic will eventually get streched out and loser, so will the magnectic force holding your astral body to your physical. Again, it just takes time and practice.
Ok so during separation, you may hear some noises. They can be poping, crackling, hissing, and, on rare occasions, screaming. Do not be afraid of these noises, nothing can hurt you in your astral form. Just ignore them.
When you are separated, try to move away from your body. Until you move far away enough, you may experience some of these things:
1. Being pulled back to your body. It is the magnectic force that keeps you attached to your body that does that. Fight it the best you can. As you move farther away from your body, it pulls less. Some people say it is even like being drunk (not like anyone on here knows what that feels like rofl).
2. Astral blindness. Do not be afraid of this, it is only when you are within about 10 feet of your body. Just move away from your body and you will see! Nothing can hurt you, so you don't have to worry about bumping into something and hurting youself. Most people Astral Project in their room or another familiar place, so they can just navigate around the room untill they can see. You may also be wobbly. This will go away with the blindness.
3. There are also some auditory distractions. Sometimes, when you are still close to your body, you can hear radiowaves. These are from things like talking or music. There my also be some buzzing in your astral ears that sounds like a hornet is flying around there. This only happens when you are close to your body and will go away.
4. Spouses. If they are bugging you, just ignore them and move away. They will most likely not even remember you in your astral form.
Taking off: Once you are separated from your body, you can take off. When you begin, you will probably want to just do the traditional through the front door thing. As you get more experienced, you will be able to just float up through the roof. Do not worry if you are afraid of heights, you will get over it in time. It can be hard because you are not used to the speed, colors, and sounds. So what do you do to travel to places? Just think about them. You can go to places, see people and all sorts of stuff. You can even go to the moon if you want to.
Good luck and have fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q+A (frequently asked questions) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Here are 5 of the most important questions (in my opinion) that are asked about Astral Projection.
1. Question: Can you touch or change a particular object in the astral? Say, if it is a piece of paper, can you write? If you can, will it be in the altered condition when you return to the physical world?
Answer: Yes you can write on things and move things around. However, they will not stay that way for long in the physical world.
2. Question:Can you see yourself when you astral travel? How do you look? What clothes are you wearing (same as in the physical plane?) etc?
Answer: You cannot see your physical body while in the astral. That is because it is on a different plain. As for the other part, most people do not pay attention but believe that you do have clothes on.
3. Question: Can you speak with the dead people that you meet?
Answer: It depends on where the people are vibrationally.
4. Question: When you are in the astral world, can you meet people in the physical world? If so, can you communicate with them in any way?
Answer: Not usually. It is just like how it is with your body but the other way around. They usually cannot see you. If they can, and they communicate with you, it is extremely rare.
5. Question: When are you best able to leave your body?
Answer: In the morning. It is usefull to be able to sleep in aswell. Try to Astral Project when you are not tired, kind of like when you meditate.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tips to make Astral Projection easier ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Here are some things that you might find make it easier to Astral Project.
1. Say affirmations before you go to sleep at night. Say things like, "I will Astral Project tonight" over and over agian untill you fall asleep.
2. Start reading books/research it. This will "sink it in" to your subconscious. This will make it easier to make it a reality.
3. Start keeping a dream/astral projection journal. That way, you can look back on things. It also works in the same way as the verbal affirmation.
4. Review personal habits. You may have to start going to bed very early, so that you wake up earlier and have time to "sleep in".
5. Don't expect fast results. Some things you can't just master in a day. Astral Projection is one of those things. Just keep practicing and don't beat yourself up if you can't even hear the high pitched noise in your head at first. But then again, if you only practice a little bit a week, you wont get much better. Practicing about 4-8 hours a week really helps.
6. Review your goals. Are you doing this just out of curiousity? Or are you doing this for a reason. If you are just curious, that may not be enough.
7. Start doing it! The road is ahead of you, so why not start out today? Don't keep putting it off, just GET GOING!!!
I have a quick question. Is it better to be lying down or sitting up? Does it even matter? And I have one more, if you don't mind, what are some tips that will increase the likeliness of projecting? Like, good eating habits, sleep, etc. If you could PM me or something that'd be great!
So, I know what the astral plane is in DnD. Is it the same here? I know it's a retarded question, but I'm a n00b so I get to ask at least one stupid question.
Can you talk to other people who astral project? Like say you and your best friend agree to meet somewhere in the astral world, would you be able to talk to them and act the same way you would be able to in the physical world?
I found some stuff, but I'm not sure if it's useful or not, having not tried it yet.
The Astral Dimension This is a topsy-turvy world like Alice found in Wonderland. Everything seems objective (real) but is changeable and fluid. Anything and everything can be found there, from base, coarse levels full of sexual energy; to beautiful, serene places full of spiritual harmony. Time is distorted and extended there. An hour in the Astral can seem like only a few minutes here in the physical. Compared to the physical world it is at a much higher vibration. It's like playing a video tape at twenty times normal speed, although this is not apparent when you are there. Moving amongst the astral dream pools is usually a hit or miss affair for most projectors. It takes a lot of experience to make planned astral journeys to specific realities.
There are an infinite number of realities, planes, realms and dream pools in this dimension. As I stated before, they naturally strata and settle into pools of related thought. During sleep, or in a lucid dream, the subconscious mind usually creates one especially for you, your own personal dream theatre. When you become aware during a dream, you take control over it. This control is taken over from the powerful subconscious mind. Without its powerful controlling influence, your personal custom created realm will change. You will begin tuning into other sympathetic parts of the astral, and the reality you are in will mix with other realities and take on different aspects.
In a conscious projection into the astral dimension, you can tune into any part of it and travel into different realities, other dream pools, or a mix of many. There are various techniques for this but they all involve some way to disorient the subconscious mind, tricking it into moving you into a different Astral reality. Some projectors look at their hands and watch them melt. Others spin around, causing left right reversals. These methods all disorient the mind and trick the subconscious into tuning into another part of the astral.
It's very difficult to describe how to move amongst the levels, you really have to learn by doing it, by trial and error. You have to learn how to use and control the subconscious mind, how to trick it for a specific result.
I know that answered my question, not sure about anyone else though. I guess it's nothing like the astral plane I was thinking of though.
Quote: is there any possiblity that i may never be able to return my body again? I remember reading something like you can return to your body whenever you want. I'm interested in knowing the answer to Meredith-Swiftblade's other questions too. Also, when you do Astral projection, do you 'physically' (I don't mean by the body) leave your body or is it all imagined in your head? (I'm a bit confused so yeah...)
To answer your first question: From what I understand, it's actually harder to not return to your body. If you think about it too much you'll get slingshotted back in.(I'm guessing that doesn't feel too great) Second: It's quite easy to travel to different locations while astral. All you do is think of the location hard enough and you can see it. I have a document in a saved PM that tells about a guy who checked on one of his dogs who was having puppies with projection. Finally: Odds are good if your parents came in they wouldn't notice, because you look like you're asleep.
Wow, this is frustrating. I can relax my body really well, but I can't leave it. I try. I'm not afraid, I just can't seem to get my astral body to separate. Fun, eh? Any other tips anyone has at all are immensely appreciated. Resources, too. Thanks.
*jumps up and down and waves hands* i have a question! when you move your astral body out of your real body, do you do it as though you were moving your physical body, or is it different?
My Wiccan friend tells me that we astral projected in our dreams...
I can't astral project like this though. It's hard!! I think once when I tried I almost succeeded in it, and then my cat jumped on me and it pushed me back into my body... xp
