Sprechen Sie Deutsch? It's a cool language, nein? Hey, it's a culture subforum; we need a thread to yack about ze language Rammstein sings (primarily) in, if we feel like it... haben wir Lust... XP

I agree with you! The german language needs to be promoted in the Rammstein guild, due to the fact that the band SINGS in it. lol. biggrin Good idea for a thread MiwSheri!

As for the language, I'm good at reading it and hearing it. I can understand a lot. I just have a problem propnoucing the words for some odd reason. It's just very difficult for me. Then again, it was hard for me to speak correctly in English and it's my FIRST language. sweatdrop

Thank you! I feel all smart now. X3

Doch ja, I love it. I'm far from fluent, but I'm working at it. I'm quite proud of how I can understand most of what I'm reading now. Songs pose next to no problem anymore! w00t! mrgreen (I've earned them's boasting rights! ninja ) I've still got a long way to go, though, don't get me wrong. I find that when people are just talking in it, though, it's a little more difficult to figure out what they're saying. I guess it's all in what you're used to hearing. As for speaking it, I don't think I do too terribly; but as it's by correspondance that I'm taking the course, I just record it into/listen to tapes. My marks are generally pretty high in that. Rammstein and other groups are where I get most pronunciation from, though. XD

I'm also thinking about taking it during college. Language and Arts are going to be my majors. 3nodding

My parents aren't keen on me taking it as a post-secondary course as I've been through all three languages my school offers as it is, and then some... however, I've stuck with German the longest and I'm the most motivated with it. So I'm planning on taking it along with all my history and hopefully another language or two. It's just such an interesting language! All the "khh"s and the like... and so much of English came from it!

(My English class was watching a video that was in Old English and I understood it moreso because of the German words than the English ones. O_x; )

Ditto. I love the German Language. It's so weird and interesting. The grammar makes NO sence, what so ever, so it's really hard to learn if you suck at remembering things. Like... I... do....

I think that the german language is very interesting.
It's a little easier than Japanese, that is, if you have horrible memory.
German has general words whereas other languages have many words for certain things. ninja
I also think that we could have a room for weaponry produced in germany as well. If that's permittable. ninja

Ich spreche ein bischen...

It has been a while since I picked up or even bothered to look at one of the numerous learn-German-materials because I have attempted to learn myself (I remember all the bad things I shouldn't know in the language...) but now I have too little time and patience. I am finally back at a high school where I can study it!!!! Had I stayed in this district I would have taken the language all 4 years but nooo the story of my life is moving from one place to another and then back again, quite annoying but here i go rambling off topic. I am taking 1 year of German in high school because I will be a senior taking that class. YAY! its such an easy language to speak
