Welcome to album information and blah blah blah provided by yours truly. In the following posts I will discuss meanings of each song from each album, vocals of the band members (when they come in and stuff) and intersting facts (if any) for the songs as well as my views and thoughts on the song. Some B-Sides will be talked about. So read on you might learn something new
To find a specific song or whatever press Ctrl + F Oh Yeah Note: This will be harder to do for 2nd album songs since lot of words are repeated especially the title of the last song so try using the number of the track and the title.
Oh and remember I am doing this for you, the reader, not to show off how much I know of Weezer. Okay's?

Pinkerton

Rivers: "The 10 songs are sequenced in the order in which I wrote them (with two minor exceptions). So as a whole, the album kind of tells the story of my struggle with my inner Pinkerton.
My favorite album The sophomore album for Weezer. During 95, Matt Sharp formed The Rentals and people told Rivers to open up and express himself a lot, and the band enjoyed their moments of fame. After their absence, Weezer got back together to record their second album. This time by themselves no help from Ric, This interesting thing about this album is that each song is put in the order they were written with some exceptions. Rivers does lots of yelling and lots of screaming, and Brian does a lot of vocals, and Matt vocals more than he did in Blue albumnot much but its heard more. People will argue that this album is "emo", well it isn't. Okay? Okay. By the way, this is a concept album, since it depicts Rivers' struggle to find "true love" and his "struggle" with his inner Pinkerton. Or in another words, all the songs have a story type theme in which all the songs are connected lyrically and story wise-ish.
The writing around the edge of the Pinkerton cd is this: roughly translates to: everywhere in the world, the roving Yankee takes his pleasure and his profit, indifferent to all risks. He drops anchor at random - from Madame Butterfly
1. Tired of Sex Fear the moog. Tired of Sex features Matt Sharps moog, the instrument that he plays nearly all the time now. This song is the way you know that this album is different from the Blue Album and all the other albums. The meaning is pretty much self-explanatory. This song has one of the best Weezer solos and a great simple drum beat. Brian Bell does most of the backing, or at least you hear him more.
2. Getchoo First song (or at least the first song to get known) written for Pinkerton, and first appeared on the Weezer bootleg Geezer. I love how No Other One Tired of Sex and Getchoo have loud distorted beginnings. Simple beat and simple lyrics, pretty much equals Weezer greatness. Brian Bell does the backing during the pre-chorus and chorus Brian and Matt do the backing I cant believe. I think the moog is used in this song, not entirely sure. Huh Uh! is done by sounds like Matt Brian and Matts This is beginning to hurt sounds great with Rivers Oooh!
3. No Other One Once again, this song is about a girl, same girl as in the other songs, I highly doubt. This begins with Rivers screaming. Matts high vocals are dominant in this one. (Two pet snakes) Brians vocals are during the ending of the chorus. Brian also does most the vocals especially pre-chorus. Matt is usually right before chorus
4. Why Bother? Heavy bass and Drum beginning and Rivers speak faster than he usually does in songs in this one. Bass really booms out in this song. Brians vocals during the chorus sounds really good and Matts high voice fits in well. And it sounds like Rivers is saying My father! Good fast song on Pinkerton The back and forth and bursts of vocals in the end really makes the song I say. Or at least ends it well. River says does all the fun vocals like the screaming ITS GOING TO HURT ME! Matt says something I cant understand And they all say, Its going to hurt me in the end
5. Across the Sea The beginning is Rivers running across the studio to get to the piano Cool piano beginning, goes well with song and the meaning. Like in the song, a Japanese girl developed a crush on Rivers and Rivers back at her. He describes how she heard about him and such. Brians vocals are once again done well and mix well with Rivers vocals. Brian is the voice during the letter opening and imagine explanation part The solo transitions well to the raging and slow part of the song. A really good solo. Good little boy both Brian and Matt after Rivers says it. Rivers sings pretty high and Brian does the great backing, differently a great Weezer song.
6. The Good Life With a chorus and melody has catchy, as Buddy Holly this song was a great choice for a single. This song has refrence to his leg surgery, "without an old man's cane..." Yeah check me now is Matt Brian does most backing vocals and sounds good with Rivers Brian holds Meee well. Brian and Matt once again Great vocals Ive had it! is Matt (And you and me and you and me!) Brian says Hear me first. The solo is has Scott describes it, Raging. It does the great rage to slow and calm like Across the Sea did. Out of all the singles I say this has the best solo and other bands cover this well. (From what Ive heard). I wanna go back is Brian And the ending to this song is done well and really suits the song.
7. El Scrocho The beginning vocals are Matt Sharps The beginning noise is either Rivers gurgling or Brian playing with his lips How cool is that is Matt Brian and Matt is can be heard more during the chorus. Matt does the High vocals This song also has the biggest reference to Madame butterfly Oh its crazy now is Rivers OWW! Is Matt OOOOH! is Rivers How stupid is it wont you give me a minute is done be Matt and Brian in the How stupid part and Rivers smoothly enters in the vocals. Fast part is done well Matt and possibly Brian do the woo parts too. Matt does vocals well after the solo. Rivers does Waiting!! Brian and Matt do the chorus vocals in the end Rivers mostly screams and yells and does the counter vocals Yes Rivers screams Whats all these grunge leg-drop nu jack through press table nonsense? Thats Johnny Grunge, leg-dropping Nu Jack Isone through the announcers table in the old ECW wrestling league. On the title? They actually did get the title from that Del Taco sauce (Del Tacos sauce is actually called Del Scorcho). But its got nothing to do with the song itself.
8. Pink Triangle Fancy type beginning done by Rivers and Brian This has the tongue-in-cheek of Pinkerton and is really sad and too most funny and the meaning is self-explanatory Bass once again is booming. Brian does his vocals really well. The last single and wouldve been a good choice if Pinkerton was successful. The melody is catchy and is presented well I say. This has a pretty lengthy (or at least lengthy than most of their solos) solo. A great song to sing with friends. Pink Triangle on her sleeve may be a symbol of gay pride. The ending leads well to Falling for you and Ill explain the transition to Falling for you in the Falling for you Section
9. Falling for You: Which company makes this product First off the lady is speaking in Korean, not Japanese, this little part was added on accident They intercepted a message on their recording equipment and since the album already had a oriental theme they kept on there. Brian does most the vocals once again, and Rivers says Here not Beer. Matts vocals are high and stick out the most in the song. (Youll know when its him) Get fat is Rivers and matt (duh) This solo is also thought to be one of the best Weezer solos, and I agree, its done really well. This song is possibly the same Japanese girl in El Scrocho (most likely is) Brians vocals are done well during Little three chord me. And once again, Brian and Matt do ending vocals well. Ending suits song.
10. Butterfly What a great way to end this album Most will say that this song is out of place. Well Weezer is out of place and this is a great song that ends this Emotional album Last song written for Pinkerton, and I say this is the best way to end Pinkerton. This song took a week to write, or at least the prep for it. Rivers meditated for a week searching for an answer to this questionsomething about, I never want to hurt othersI think. After a week, he got as a response. It apparently was so moving, that he cried for hours and then later on, wrote this song on the same day. The next day he recorded the song, early in the morning Rivers refrence Madame Butterfly in this song as well, besides the title. The line, "I told you I would return when the robin makes his nest..."is a line from the character "Pinkerton". This entire song is a refrence to the opera and a his way of connecting his feelings with the "Pinkerton" character. the muffled sound in the end is Rivers putting his guitar down and sighing. There are electric versions of this song, of which I cant find(yet). This song really sums up the album well, even Rivers agree according to his interview with AP magazine. A truly great song really makes the album. And once again...people will argue this.

Weezer'00 (Green Album) After a five year hiatus, Weezer returned to record a new album to get back on the radio airwaves and such, except with Mickey Welsh as bassist. A set of songs which fans call "The Summer Songs of 2000" were written for Green Album, but only one of those songs was used, along with one song in thier 4th album. This album is "designed" to be a commerical friendly pop album, and the mission for this album was to put Weezer "back on the map". Hence enters Rivers' patened speed writing and diconnection of feeling in order to be successful unlike in Pinkerton, style of writing. In this album, Rivers wrote around 500+ songs after the ss2k, all of which have no emotion behind them and have no real er....message. The songs don't mean anything...okay? With each song being "super pop", repitive, sounding the same, and etc, most Weezer fans highly dislike this album. That being said, this is a good album on pop standards, on Weezer standards...well...it could've been better. As most fans would say, "If it was any other band, I would like it more." At the moment, I can't say much on these songs, since...well they have no meaning, soooo...I'll come back to this...later.
1. Don't Let Go
2. Photograph
3. Hash Pipe The first single, and a good song to sing with friends, and Rivers sings...really high. Oh, but first, listen to "Shot Himself Up" by The Shods. This song is about a transvisite prostitute and his views on life in Santa Monica....apparently. First Weezer song to have it's title censored. Woo!
4. Island in the Sun I think I speak for everyone when I say that this song is the best song of Green Album and is one of the most well known songs by Weezer. The title is usually mistaken to be Holiday on the sun. This song is also the most used song for movies (i.e: Mr.Deeds) And Oh this song was covered by Mary kate and Ashley. Rivers allowed them to do that since he thought it would be funny. (my source is playboy) Great song.
5. Crab
6. Knock-Down Drag Out
7. Smile
8. Simple Pages
9. Glorious Day
10. O-Girlfriend

Make Believe After an unusual disapperance, Weezer returned to the airwaves with Rivers coming off his two year no sex plan, and an album in which each member....contributed to it. So let's say this album was 97.5% Rivers the rest was Rick Rubin and the other band members. Such as Brian thought up the beginning for their "We Are All On Drugs" and Pat made the drum beat for "Freak me Out" instead of Rivers. The overall theme on this album seems to be: "I'm sorry for what I did" which I say is sumed up in "Pardon me". These songs were all written in the short time of 2003 through 2005 all with the exception of Hold Me. According to their recording history, there are songs with the same titles as some of the songs on the album that date as far back as '95. (For Example: "Pardon Me" was "Huge Guy" Pat Wilson Acoustic demos) Whether or not they're the same song is beyond me. I'm pretty sure, "Perfect Situation" isn't the same, since Rivers has said that he cried when he heard himself sing it. So Eh. The band have said that they are happy with the results and are glad that things with the band aren't so stressful and are slowly getting back to normal. Whatever that is. Personally I believe this is a good album and better than Maladroit and Green Album but once again, Weezer can do better and let's expect to do that. That being said, there are some lines in these songs that I really love especially in "Freak Me Out", "Perfect Situtation" and "The Other Way". Rivers in this album also sings differently in this one, it has though...he started to care and we hear more vocals from Scott and Brian and some random vocal bursts which is the little saving grace that "Beverly Hills" has, it's little, not enough to save it. 1.Beverly Hills The first single, it did it's job by putting Weezer back on the charts and is the first song to top the charts. So go Beverly Hills. I'll return to this....bleh
2.Perfect Situation Third Single...and I guess funny story
3.This is Such A Pity The first forth single....hold on
4.Hold Me
5.Peace
6.We Are All On Drugs The Third Single....hold on to this
7.The Damage in Your Heart
8.Pardon Me
9.Best Friend
10.The Other Way
11.Freak Me Out
12.Haunt You Everyday

Songs from the Black Hole What are the Songs from the Black Hole? Any Weezer should know this, but if you're slightly new to the deep Weezer facts or rumors etc, then here is some information for you. During late '94 and early '95 between Blue Album and Pinkerton, Weezer recorded and wrote several songs that were to be released as they're second album (or something), called "Songs From The Black Hole". Pat, Rivers and Karl according to my source were the ones that worked on Songs from the Black Hole. Very few of these songs are availabe online and even then not all the songs are available Some of the songs used in this album went on to be used in Pinkerton and become B-Sides for Green AlbumWeezer.com Over Christmas break, Rivers worked feverishly on writing, and recording 8 track demos at home in Connecticut, and emerged with a "mock-up" demo of what he was starting to envision as weezers next album. Influenced by musicals, operas, and "rock-operas", "songs from the black hole" was an ambitious concept album idea.
By February 1995, Rivers had developed a tracklisting [henceforth known as "Tracklist 1"], and compiled a casssette of it from recordings as old as his late '93 "Tired of Sex" demo, and as recently as new recordings he made over the xmas '94 break at home. In Feburary 95, weezer was stuck in Hamburg, Germany for a week, as Matt had to rush home due to a family emergency, and the least expensive option in light of missing shows, was to just stay put till Matt got back. It was decided that at least some demos could be worked on, and Rivers and Pat rented a modest local recording studio in Hamburg. There the medium was the (then new) ADAT tape system. Both Rivers and Pat did a number of demos (and Pat and Karl even worked on some Southern Fried Swing when nothing else was going on [doing a track called "the complete history of techno", which was done solely to make fun of the nasty music being created in the studio next door]. However, it appears that NONE of the ADAT recordings were ever quite finished. Its POSSIBLE that some of the "black hole" songs were "upgraded" with a new recording here, and replaced on the cassette with fresh recorded demos of the same tracks.
Over the course of the winter, spring, and summer 1995 touring, the band discussed and debated the semantics of how to pull it off, and indeed, if it should even be done. Some of the songs were in fact rehersed as a band, some were played out live, and some made it all the way to the second weezer album- although by then the album concept was quite different.
Rivers entered school in Fall 1995, after initial "album #2" recording sessions in August and early September 1995 [listed chronologically later in the Recording History]. Those sessions failed to come together in a way that felt "right" for the black hole concept, and [in this writers opinion] Rivers began to question the direction of the second album.
In school, Rivers worked on some demos, and made [what is in this writers opinion] a "last ditch effort" to salvage Songs From The Black Hole. He re-compiled a new tracklisting [henceforth known as "Tracklist 2"] using several newly recorded bits and one mid 1994 demo that was not previously part of the album concept, and took out numerous songs that apparently were no longer needed, either due to their new status as "real album 2" songs, or due to simple creative changes of heart.
Whatever happened that fall, by Jan 1996 both "el scorcho" and "pink triangle" had been written, and they were amongst the tracks worked on in a jan '96 session [documented chronologically later in the History]. By Spring '96 "black hole" had bitten the dust, as the songs "Across the Sea", "Falling for You", and "Butterfly" had come, and the "Pinkerton" concept had crystalized. the list below has 8 columns: I also figured that since "songs from black hole" was used to name this guild I'd put a little section on this.

The Lion and The Witch After the release of Maladroit, Weezer released this CD in, I guess, a way to keep the fans happy. This is a short CD with recordings of their live shows most of which are in Japan. This CD apparently sells high on E-Bay is a big collectors item for hardcore Weezer fans since only (I think) 25,000 were released and sold. This cd features some big commmerical songs like "Island in the Sun" and "Dope Nose" but also lesser known songs like "Holiday" ,"Death and Destruction" and "El Scorcho."

Avant Garde This is them Few songs by this band are available but each one is good to find and listen to. Why is this in the Weezer song description thread? Well, yeah, I know nothing about these songs but I can give an opionion on songs that Rivers were involved in. Just note that if you listen to these, that Rivers is not lead vocals One of the band mates, went on to form the band A.M Radio which is managed by Rivers
