1. It's all imagination. Roleplaying is nothing more than a fictional story that you make up with others. It's almost like a story that happens the way you want it to. Therefore, dexcriptions on the things around you help to bring the story to life and makes it better for everyone to see what's going on.
2. Make yourself stand out. Most roleplaying is done in the "third-person" perspective in order to give the readers the best effect of what's happening. Although a few of them you can play using yourself, most of them requires that you have a pre-made character to fit into the story, someone that everyone can picture in their own minds.
3. Give lots of details. Because the story is fictional and continuous, it's best if you give out little hints and details to the world around you so others can picture what your character is going through. Also, the events you make out help to make the storyline better and more anticipating to the other roleplayers. Complex plot lines and impossible odds help to make the whole thing better and makes other roleplayers more willing to participate. Anything that simply solves a problem may weaken and, at times, kill the storyline, making it harder for others to come up with anything to happen after that.
