The courtyard of the old Buddhist temple appears in the same way as it would have when it was still in use by human monks. Instead of altering it beyond all recognition, the kitsune have instead decided to restore it to the way that it must have once looked. The courtyard is open to the elements, and is accessible from the mountain via three gates. The first gate, the main gate, appears at first glance to be a small building itself. It is a steep roofed structure, with thick walls to either side of the gate itself, which faces south. A short flight of carved stone stairs leads up to the main gate from outside the temple.

The two other gates are smaller (but still possess the same angled roofs) and are located at the sides of the temple. The path from the eastern gate leads to a large, ancient-looking forest a short distance away. The western gate leads to immaculately maintained gardens, obviously also belonging to the Nogitsune temple.

In the centre of the courtyard there is a great bronze bell, green with age and sheltered by a roof over it. There are no walls under the roof; simple but sturdy wooden beams support the roof at each corner.

There are three actual buildings located within the temple courtyard. One is a three storied pagoda, and this is usually the first aspect of the temple to be seen when one is travelling to it. There are also two lower buildings. The largest of the two is located prominently within the courtyard, directly behind the main gate and the courtyard bell. This is the main hall of the temple. Off to one side, a smaller structure is located. This was once a lecture hall, however, the kitsune have now converted it to suit their own purposes.

The earthen-coloured kit had been exploring the Nogitsune gardens on her own, darting this way and that as she went about her little personal quest to not rest her laurels until she had every inch of the gardens covered. She had been here for close to half a year now and it was only recently that her guardian Masato had allowed her to wander the Nogitsune grounds on her own like this.

Of course Yae was not about to pass up a valuable opportunity such as this when she could give in to the innate urge to be close to Mother Earth who was calling out to her without the watchful eyes of her guardian in tow. Really now, what could possibly happen so long as she stuck to the Nogitsune compound as Masato had cautioned her time and again?

Amber orbs had lit up with delight and curiosity at the sight of something dark brown in colour that stood out sharply in contrast with the grey walls that separated the gardens from another part of the temple. That caused the young kit to stop in the midst of her tracks, the delight that had been so clearly reflected within her eyes at her newly attained freedom now momentarily replaced by curiosity as to what laid beyond the gate she had discovered.

Poking her little nose through the gate first, Yae sniffed the air in the courtyard a little. Hmm... nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary. The place radiated peace just like the rest of the Nogitsune grounds which to little Yae, was limited to her own room and the nursery till a few days back when her guardian had finally decided to grant her permission to explore the Nogitsune grounds further.

Giving a small yip almost as if she was announcing her presence, Yae stepped through the gate and padded into the temple courtyard proper, deep yellow eyes not blinking the entire time as they took in every bit of detail belonging to the place that she had never been to before.

He was getting the hang of this illusion thing. Kisho gave a squeal of delight, began to run and promptly fell over. The illusion he could manage but there were certain aspects that he couldn't quite get the hang of. Like hands and feet. They were just so awkward. And speaking. Although he'd picked up a couple of words, it wasn't as if he actually understood what he was saying. Reverting back to his kitsune form, Kisho scratched behind his ear. Then he yawned, and snuggled back into his little area in the temple. It was a lovely place just to rest, as long as he wasn't found and kicked out.

Hearing something outside, Kisho trundled over to the doorway. With delight he noticed that it was nearing twilight, and then it would be onto night; his favourite time of day. The young kit yawned and looked around, noticing the female fairly quickly. Oh, how delightful! Always inquisitive and welcoming he instantly bounded across courtyard, enjoying the easiness of his movements compared to when he was a human look alike. Soon he skidded up to Yae, yipping in delight over this and that.

Kisho paraded in front of her, rolling back and forth, yipping and jumping; all with boundless energy. There was always someone to meet or somewhere to explore, which made his life great! He was the type of kit with an optimistic personality, a desire to make friends and make the most of life. A characteristic that was remarkably endearing. Although, he could definitely be annoying at times. He couldn't help but get into everywhere, knocking things over in the process. There were also the tricks. The darting out and moving things when the adult kitsune turned around, leaving them utterly confused, and the chillies in the food. Oh yes, he was an interesting little guy.

Ren curled his tail around his waist and sighed, his lip sticking out in a dejected pout. None of the adults could make head or tail of his strange behavior, and the young kitsune absolutely refused to speak a single word to anyone. The uncharacteristic moping didn't last long, changing into frustration. His brow furrowed and he huffed, flopping back into a conveniant pile of newly fallen sakura blossoms.

He raised the thumb and forefingers from each hand and pressed his thumbs together, creating a frame for him to look through, up at the sky. The tip of his tongue stuck out as he concentrated, and in a few moments a green-blue flame flared up within the box of his fingers. Ren smiled wistfully and made the flame dance upon his fingertips, then seperate so a tiny lick of foxfire sat upon each of his pointy little claws.

Still, this fire paled in comparison to the real thing, and left him yearning for the day he'd be able to create it. The pout returned full force, everyone else could be so close to their own element, yet Ren was stuck with lame candles and fireplaces as his only solace.

Ren's ears perked as he heard the excited yipping, and he peeked his head around the tree curiously. He snorted and giggled behind his hand as he saw Kisho strutting like a peacock in front of a timid looking female (whom he concluded was Yae). Ren abruptly changed back to standing on four legs, tail bristling and a wicked grin on his face.

With a happy bark, he pounced.

((Many apologies for the uber slow reply..! @-@

*kicks rl and her muse*))

The little female kit had not been expecting anyone else to be within the vicinity of the temple courtyard at this hour, much lest respond to her call the way Kisho was right now. Yae froze in place and blinked in silence at the sight of the male kit alternating between strutting to and fro in front of her, rolling and jumping, unsure as to how she should react to all these.

Her innate nature was telling her to turn tail and run. Seek out another venue which possessed the familiarity that she felt at peace with. However, her rational side was totally against that, seeing as Kisho was another kit like herself and couldn't possibly mean her any harm.

So Yae settled for a small step backward from her current position instead, amber orbs that were much larger to be normal darting this way and that as she tried to bite back the terrified yip that was threatening to erupt forth from her maw any moment...

Kisho continued to strut his stuff, not noticing the alarm that flared up in the small females eyes. He was too caught up with his little show... and a rather impressive turn he was doing, which he was going to call 'The Kisho', to notice anything. That was until a certain fire kitsune made his presence known. In the rudest possible way, by interrupting Kisho's funny dancing with a pounce and a bark that startled the young void kitsune right out of his skin.

He was so startled that his instincts took control of his body for a moment. And they said, 'get the hell out of there'. Kisho started to run, got tangled up by his own feet and fell flat on his face. Breathing hard, the kit slowly rose to his paws and glared at Ren. But only for a moment. The fire kit was soon recognized as a tussling partner and was given a joyous welcome, all bad feelings forgotten.

Kisho soon had Ren's ear in his mouth, nibbling happily. But his eyes were still for the female, who he regarded with a happy, interested look.

Sensing Kisho's distraction, Ren looked up to see him giving Yae those moony eyes again, bleh!

Rolling his eyes he popped back into his human form. He stuck out his tongue, which was accompanied by a mocking little grin. With a flick of his fingers he created a blazing flame in front of each eye. His tongue lolled out further, and Ren launched into a burst of exaggerated panting.

He liked to call that mime 'The enflamed lover', not that he had much understanding of what it meant. Girl things made no sense to him. For all he lacked in speech, he made up for in body language. The guardians liked to joke that he'd be the next great kabuki.

Abandoning his harmless jest, Ren jumped to his feet and slunk over the sniff at the female kit. He offered a suave grin, but seeing nothing particularly interesting about the female, went back to practicing his artful little flames.

He didn't understand at all what was supposed to be so special about females! But Ren did wonder how they kept their fur so glossy...

Ooc: I just imagined Kisho with flaming love in his eyes *snicker*. Yeah this was a weird post (Ren has a short attention span!>.<). But I do love the idea of Kabuki!Ren. (I hope this actually made some sense)
