Today while at work the house next door was playing 'nightmares by the sea' by the one and only Jeff buckley. i was so excited, it was a crappy day and i had been alone for the last 5 hours so i was planning on going up to the house next door and congradulating them on their wonderful musical tastes. i had decided these people who i hadnt met were cool, fun people that would hopefully be my friends. while all this was running through my head the song ended and was followed by radio chatter, i was crushed. all my dreams of meeting people near me that listened and liked Jeff Buckley were smashed.
ever thought someone was cool because their musical tastes only to be sadly mistaken? discuss
sorry for the lack of Jeffness, delete if neccessary.

bambilovesfairies no not at all it's a good topic, yeah I know some assholes that have great taste in music i thought it needed some new topics. i get really disappointed when poeple are s**t but like great music, its much easier to hate someone who doesnt like Jeff Buckley/good music.

hardly any of my friends listen to the same bands I listen to. I mention radiohead or jeff buckley and they stare blankly and ask "who?". then if I let them hear it, they rant about how awful it is, ask why I listen to it, etc. they eventually run off and listen to simple plan, fallout boy, or rap.

Any music preference should be respected.. even if you think it is complete nonsense or crap... such as random people wailing or something, even without having musical touch at all
O_o
To make fun of others' music tastes just due to them onto yours isn't really.. ideal, right? confused
I dunno.
Always feel free to defend your music though if others come out and say "that sucks!" of course. I do all the time to Radiohead with one of my metal-head friends...

XD to an extent your right people spend their lives making reccords that they pour their souls into you cant argue with that but when you listen to some rap or dance songs where one clip of a guy going 'yeah!' over and over again this theory is strained somewhat
