Alright, this all began on thursday. My boyfriend, David, thought he had a cold. So he told me that he was going to the doctor tomorrow. At first is was just some small non inhabilitating thing. Sore throat, stuffy nose, and a cough. common cold right? Wrong!
He went to the doctor on friday and they told him he had strep. They charged him $65 for the visit and I don't know how much for the pills. They gave him amoxicillan for the throat and a decongestent for the rest of it. They said it would be about three day till he was 100% better. Well, I took care of him that day and nothing seemed to get better. Sunday hit and it was worse.
I woke up at about 11 on sunday and got on the computer before going out for my busy day. I had planed on going shopping and running some long awaited errunds including finding a new job. That didn't happen. I ended up taking care of him again. This time though, he couldn't do anything on his own. Not even take a bath. so I helped him with everything and forced him to eat. I thought to my self these syptoms are not strep throat, but I ignored it till 10 when I had to take him home. we got on the road about 11 o'clock and we're on our way to his house.
On the way he kept gaging everytime I got to a red light. finally I had to pull over so he could puke. I asked him if he wanted to go to the ER. he said yes. I had to pick up my sister still, she was at work. so I called and asked her to get another ride. We got to the ER and went in. They got him in imediatly because of the fever. The nurse comes in an swaps him throat. This makes him throw up again. The doctor comes in and shakes his hand. He can tell just by the temp of his hand that he had a fever. So, the doctors looking him over and says, "You know, this looks like mono. I bet you anything thats what it is."
I knew it looked familliar. My friend Anna had it. Her spleen was about to explode and her liver made her skin yellow for a while. It was the same thing. They do a blood test on him and about a half hour later they walk in and tell us what we already know. "David, I'm sorry. You do have mono. Theres nothing you can do for it. Your body has to fight it off. I wouldn't even take that medicine anymore. It'll just cause a rash. The best you can take is tylonal.
So great, I have a very sick boyfriend and I might get it as well. Here's the info on the disease.
