Mecca stepped out into the light the port of Cephei was definitely a new favourite place. So many people and animals all crowded together perfect for undetected fun. Then there were the airships and boats. Mecca could sit and watch them all day. Well, when he wasn't terrorising things.
Taking a break from his daily persuits he headed for the large teahouse he had become fond of. There was something about the place, a powerful magic that kept drawing him back there. Once inside he took a seat at one of the free tables his eyes taking in the strange folk that surronded him as he ordered some water.
Anima shook out her hair with a sigh as she entered a cute looking teahouse in Cephei. Her quest to visit all the new places and cities that had recently been opened was constantly impeded by the admins logging in and out. She certainly didn't fear them, but they complicated matters and it was best to avoid them so that they couldn't follow her anywhere they shouldn't. Luckily, they hadn't shown up today. Placing an order, she draped herself over a chair at an empty table, lounging in a manner probably unsuitable to such a high-class looking place. Who cared, her money was still good, right? Glancing around, she caught sight of a new player, still in a young, offensively red, body. She smirked wryly, remembering how it had been when she'd been in that tiny body.
Mecca noticed the new arrival and looked up at her over his water. She was looking at him, watching. Narrowing his eyes he looked back down at his glass of water. What excactly was her problem? Sighing he looked around him. No one interesting caught his eye. Only the wierd fortune teller types, and they weren't any use to him. Too big, too powerful.
The female Shu was still smirking at him from her corner. Glaring back at her he decided to make a particularly childish move and stick his tongue out. Maybe that would make her go away.
Anima laughed as the kid (she was tempted to say boy, but you could never be sure when the younger stage was essentially genderless) poked his tongue out. It struck her as something she might have done in his place. Certainly she'd been tempted to smack Epi once or twice for all his comments about "little girls" and "harems". Given that he was only a table over, she asked, "You want a drink with a bit more kick to it, or are you one of those health freaks who needs nine glasses of water a day?"
Mecca regarded her as one might a very small bug and raised an eyebrow.
"It all tastes of nothing so I may as well get the cheapest thing on the menu." He sighed looking down at his glass and then back up to her. "You're not one of those alcoholics who needs a drink just to make it through the day are you?" He said in a particularly weary tone. Idley he wondered if she would be any fun. Her dry attitude certainly intrigued him.
The kid had a quick wit, she had to give him that. "Hardly," she snickered. "I'm more one of those pyromaniacs who can't get through the day without setting something on fire." She demonstrated her abilities by causing a quick flare of flames above a raised hand. "Sometimes I'm satisfied if it's a monster... but sometimes towns are much more fun to mess with." She gave a quick smirk. "Why? You're not one of those do-gooder, can't get through the day without preaching your morals to others, are you?"
Mecca eyed her suspiciously. Was she for real. Everyone he had met so far had been ... nice. It was making his brain hurt. He watched the flames in awe. Hmm maybe things were looking up.
"Heh. Not likely." He snorted. "I left those idiots back in the city. They aparently didn't like my idea of fun." He looked down at his fingernails. "I like to burn stuff to." He said casually. "Though I have to do it the old fashioned way. Torture can be fun too." He grinned darkly. "Do you like pain?"
s**t, the little kid was a sadist or something? Anima raised an eyebrow. "While the saying 'life is pain' may be true, that doesn't mean I need any additional help in that matter. Of course, I'm not above causing some pain to others," she gave him a matching, razor smile. "I'm Anima Denunci. And you, my sadistic young companion?"
"Mecca." He said not holding his hand out or bowing his head like the others had done in the past to greet him. He smiled his cold smile again. So this Anima was a bit of a kindred Spirit. Not quite the same, but close enough for now. "Can I watch you burn stuff?"
Giving a low chuckle, Anima replied, "Sure." She quickly drained her tea and left some coins on the table. Rising, she turned in the direction of the door, trusting Mecca to follow the lure of burning stuff. "Anything in particular you want to see burned?"
Mecca finished his water and also stood. He didn't need currency. Water was always free. "I don't mind." He said following behind her as happily as he ever did anything. "Something living preferably. Though anything would be interesting." He gave another dark grin. "I'm sure you know of better things than I do."
"Sorry, you won't be seeing spontaneous human combustion today," she laughed to Mecca. "It tends to draw pesky law officials, and I doubt you have an instant getaway prepared. I did see some small puppies over by the lake, though - annoying barking little shits." The last was a hissed curse, loud enough for anyone close by to hear.
A slight wave of dissapointment crossed Mecca's face, though it was quickly replaced with the mention of puppies. He smirked at her language and followed along faithfully. "Puppies are fun." He said. Not meaning fun in the way a normal child might. "They make nice whining noises when you hurt them." He said in a jovial tone. "Let's burn them!"
Rolling her eyes, Anima led them to the lake where she'd seen several small puppies frolicking earlier - no doubt having wormed their way past the fence of a nearby house. "I wouldn't describe any of their noises as 'nice'," she muttered. "High-pitching yipping, sharp whining... blood nuisances." Anima was a cat person, obviously. As they arrived, Anima surprisingly bypassed the playing puppies, moving further on to a small copse of trees and leaning against one. This put her around the length of a house away from the puppies, close enough to watch, but not be the first suspect. "Ready?" With a feral smile at Mecca, Anima snapped her fingers. The first of three puppies burst into flames. It was hard to feel anything for them, Caleb thought to himself, when he knew the animals were just 1s and 0s in a computer.
