Your Flavor of the Month

PostPosted: Fri Apr 14, 2006 1:58 am

There is a city much like any other named "Chotwoilly", or so everyone believes it's ordinary, but it is actually far more mysterious. It's in a remote location, and has literally no connection with the world outside it. The people of the city are seemingly just like any others though. They go to school and work, they live completely ordinary lives, in fact, too ordinary. As the town has no weapons in it, so deaths rarely occur, and accidents rarely happen. But the lack of discord and isolation are only a few of its quirks. Its run by a shady government, in which none of the citizens know much about and seldom think much about, as they tend to be highly secretive.

It only adds to its mystery that there have been many strange disappearances around the town. Every night, at midnight, one person is gone. The next morning, no one remembers them, all there possessions are returned to their former owners, it's literally as though they never existed.

With the exception of for a small handful of people.

A few people, mostly in their teenage years, still remember those who disappeared. They are the ones who are soon to know, by use of the power sleeping within them, the truth behind Chotwoilly, and they are the ones who will destroy what is causing some to wane into nothingness.

As my exposition provided, this is going to be primarily a dual genre roleplay. Both action and mystery.

Rules:
exclaim All Guild rules and ToS rules apply. Duh.
exclaim Swearing's allowed. The only limit being racist terms and the whatnot, as they violate Gaia's Terms of Service.
exclaim No godmoding. That one is obvious, but I need to clarify my grounds on godmoding.
1. I will judge the power of your character in your application. If I tell you they're too strong, they are. Either adjust their strengths and weaknesses, or drop the application completely.
2. No. Damn. Prehitting. So many RP'ers don't understand that you should give your opponent a chance to react when you send an attack towards him. Just don't abuse the concession to dodge my successfully avoiding your opponent's every attack.
3. Lastly, there's invincibility. The ultimate godmoding form. After, say, getting stabbed with a sword, you can't be just fine. If your character dies, big whoop. Feel free to make a new one.
exclaim PM me applications. The keywords are: "A Someone is a stud muffin".
exclaim I'd like to encourage decent typing. Chatspeak generally doesn't bother me, unless it's in RP'ing, writing stories, etc.. I won't get on your case with common grammatical errors and typos (I get them a lot).
exclaim You can have up to two characters. Just don't make some character to beef up your other's image. That'd be stupid.
exclaim This RP will be done in literature format. Meaning no asterisks to symbolize actions.
exclaim Lastly, have fun! Just for the sake of cliche' last rules.

Additional info.:
The Recollectors are the ones who can remember the ebbed citzens of Chotwoilly. A name given to the team by the original Recollectors. Other information on them is unknown, or kept secret.

The Disregarders are the ones who are behind the disappearances in Chotwoilly. They are also behind most of Chotwoilly's mysteries, the Disregarders are sworn to secrecy and all follow the orders of the head honcho, Leaxander. Currently, all Disregarders have been assigned the mission to destroy the Recollectors. The true motive of the Disregarders is unknown.

Information on the Obscured is to be announced.

As an F.Y.I. My roleplays seldom go by the "good always conquers evil" pscychology. So either The Recollectors or The Disregarders have a chance of winning based on how the RP goes.

Applications:

Name: Pretty self explanatory. Just so you know, most people have last names too, but Disregarders don't have last names.
Age: Anything would do so long as they aren't 10 or something stupid like that. Disregarders are preferably adults, while Recollectors will lean towards teenage years. But it's your choice.
Allignment: Either Recollector or Disregarder. Once more is learned about Obscured, they'll be usable characters.
Weapons: Be creative here! I'd prefer if everyone wielded different weapon types. No guns or anything like that. These weapons are ancient artifacts from within the recesses from within them (seeing as Chotwoilly has no others).
Powers: Every Recollector has not only their weapon within them, but also their own power. When you do this one, be sure to look through the roster for a power no one's taken. Let it be known that I'll turn down application if it has the exact same power as another Recollector. Disregarders have powers too, but they generally all tie to grim aspects such as death and darkness.
Appearance: I want a description of our looks, and I mean everything. Skin color, hair color, eye color, body frame, everything. No pictures. You can include apparel if they have some aversion to changing clothes (like most RP applications imply).
Personality: Just tell what they're like. An easy one if you can maintain their personality the whole time.
Keywords: Enter the keywords here.

Powers: Terrox is able to breathe large gusts of below freezing wind and he can also shoot ice shards out of his hands. Lastly, he can fire huge blasts of ice which can freeze an enemy. This is his ultimate attack in which he only uses as a last resort, as it majorly drains him. As an added bonus, he's immune to sticking frost effects of his weapon.
Appearance: Terrox is a tall, somewhat lanky man at around six foot. He has blue-green eyes and short spikey hair. He is a natural blonde, but dyes his hair a pale cyan. He generally wears a black tuxedo with white gloves and black hiking boots.
Personality: Terrox has a playful, happy-go-lucky demeanor, he enjoys tormenting his enemies with passive aggressive taunts, as he enjoys infuriating his opponents to cause them to berserk and lose concept of strategy.

Your Flavor of the Month
Name: Aldo Wilshire.
Age: 16.
Allignment: Recollector.
Weapons: He wields two chakrams, the White Rose and the Red Rose. They're both green chakrams covered in thorns, one is adorned with red roses, another with white. When he unlocked them, he also gained an immunity to their poison thorns.
Powers: Aldo can mainpulate plants and turn them into plantoid monsters which serve him. He can only control so many, or they'll overwhelm him though, furthermore, they have a severe lack in intelligence.

Yoder
Name: Raish
Age: 25
Allignment: Disregarder
Weapons: Darts
Powers: Manifestation (This power deals with a realm unkown to the present world. It allows him to summon many weak servants to do his bidding. He can also seemingly copy himself by summoning one powerful servant that morphes to his form. By gathering all of these servants into his body he emits a brilliant blue aura. This powerful energy field empowers his every attack with a "shadow" atack right behind it, creating the illusion of the attack being repeated several times before it is complete. A simpler way to explain it is that it is more of an after-image that actually hurts as well.
Appearance: Raish is quite tall at 6'3". He is quite lanky for his 160 pounds. His hair is black, and the end of which have been burned to a scraggly mess. His eyes are a limpid blue. Always with a wide-brimmed hat, his skin has had little esposure to the sun.
Personality: For a Disregarder, he is actually quite fair and just. Living by a code of chivalry, he will allow his enemy to recover their weapon before striking if it was knocked from their hand.

Age: 19
Alignment: Renegade Disregarder(aligned to Recollectors)
Weapons: Twin Swords
-Diamond Bladed Buster(Light Element) named Hikaribasutaken is a sword of light that can create barriers, shields, healing and all things generally associated with the Light Element

Powers:
-Weapon Adaptation - Can adapt to a situation and/or object and use it to his advantage. Mostly specialized in Weapons and Creative Offensive
Appearance: 160 lbs, well rounded and built, 6ft2, pale white, long white hair down to hips, silver/grey eyes, stout and straight. Wears black leather clothes, strapped in places by tight belts, under a long black cloak. (Ressembles a darker more fantasy Sephiroth-type look)
Personality/Historical: Kyou was a project developped by the Disregarders as an experiment to see how a human being would react with electronic and computerized parts. Memory and processors were connected to his brain and he became a type of new age Disregarder. It was his compassion for his fellow kind, the Recollecters that made him escape, with much difficulty. He is a courageous and brave person, living off a code of respect and honour. He is kind and wise, yet he has often cannot resist the urge to fight when the opportunity arises.

Galdrea
Name: Teresa Jaes
Age: 17
Allignment: Recollector
Weapons: Teresa's weapons are unconventional, at best. They are nine cards, each with a differing element and illustration on them. The cards can not be used singularly, because Teresa doesn't have the mastery to do that. The fewest she can use at one time is three, but the order in which she invokes the power of the cards affects the results. She also has a two-foot wooden wand with intricate carved designs and a clear ball at the head to invoke the cards, but it's so sturdy and the magic of the cards so draining that she often ends up using it as a club.
Cards:
Earth: The illustration shows a desert in the foreground, plains in the midground and a tropical rainforest in the background.
Air: The illustration shows a raging tornado with delicate wisps of a breeze above it.
Fire: The illustration shows the banked coals in the foreground, a modest campfire in the midground, and a raging fire in the background.
Water: The illustration shows, from left to right, calm seas fading into stormy seas, developing into a tsunami that towers over the edge of the illustration.
Music: A single black eighth note is displayed against a purple background.
Light: A bright yellow sunburst is shown against an almost luminescent white background.
Intuition: An serene female profile is shown against a wavy background in cool colors, her fingertips touching her forehead as a sunburst explodes behind her closed eyes.
Initiative: A muscular man with his fist heading for the viewer against a sharp background in warm colors is shown.
Eternity: A yin/yang symbol is shown against a starfield background.
Powers: Teresa has access to another world that exists parallel to Earth, giving her multiple interconnected powers. She can see the intent of any person she chooses to look at in such a way, discerning whether they mean her harm or good, and even if they are telling her a lie. She can hear anyone who is discussing anything connected to her, even if it is only as general as discussion of women or teenagers, or as specific as herself personally, and she can speak to anyone in such a way that only they can hear. These awesome powers, however, have debilitating side effects that leave her extremely vulnerable. When she looks at the intent of a person, she cannot see anything that is physically present. When she listens to people talking about her, she cannot hear discussion that does not pertain to whatever she set out to hear, i.e., if she's listening to people talk about her school, she cannot hear conversation that is unconnected to her school. Lastly, when she speaks so that only the people she is intending to hear her can hear her, her voice shorts out and is unuseable for speaking to anyone but the person she intended to speak to. These side-effects last even after she has completed her objective, but the length of time varies, depending on how she spends at each task. She cannot do two simultaneously, or do another before the effects of the first wear off.
Appearance: Teresa is about 5'6, with shoulder-length brown-black hair, warm brown eyes and milk chocolate-colored skin. She's a big woman, and she dresses to accomodate that fact, usually wearing skirts and blouses, as opposed to jeans and t-shirts. Her shoes are usually sandals, or shoes that she can slip out of easily, when she wears shoes. She is just as likely to go around barefoot.
Personality: Teresa is herself. She can be pleasant, exciteable and hyper when she's in a good mood, or depressing, morbid and cruel when she's in a bad mood. She tries to not think about the bad things in life and will sometimes have dramatic moodswings. Teresa does her best to always be polite and kind to others. She is very trusting and has a tendency to want to believe that most of the people she meets are working with the same moral values as herself. She loves to learn and debate things with other people. She also loves to talk, and will talk, at length, about any subject that interests her, or nothing at all, depending on the situation.

The story of what happened in Chotwoilly is quite possibly as odd as the city's name. It's a story about a struggle beween two goups in Chotwoilly, a battle for surpremacy. The story begun quite some time ago, as we're starting months after the disappearances had started. From where we are telling the tale, we'll begin in the town's main square.

Chotwoilly's square always has something going on. It's the center the city, and is surrounded by some interesting stores and a grandeur mall. It has a huge fountain in the middle, the fountain's surrounded by lush green trees fenced by ornate black iron bars. There are always crowds of people hanging out in groups within the square. Cars are always driving by, many people are talking and laughing, going in and out of the shops. Even at midnight, the square's guaranteed to be noisy.

One day in the midst of June, after the residents had started disappearing, a strange man came out of "Box of Mystery", a pawn shop. The building was decorated flambouyantly, it was covered in neon moons, stars, question marks, cubes, circles, triangles, spades and hearts of many colors with purple neon writing over the door in print, "Box of Mystery". The glass sliding door slid open as a tall man came out. He had spikey hair which was dyed blue. He was a Disregarder by the name of "Terrox". He was dressed cxasually so that he wouldn't stick out. He had a white shirt, dark blue jeans and a black leather strait jacket. He completed the look with a pair of sunglasses. He walked through the many people, accidentally bumping into a few, they gave him annoyed looks as he smiled embarassedly. He took a seat on a bench by the fountain, the only unoccupied one he found as he took as seat. He stared into the fountain's water which glistened in te afternoon sunlight. His boss's order rung in his head, "All of you must find the Recollectors and bring them here. Dead or alive." Terrox groaned in annoyance as he thought, Damn it... How am I supposed to find them? They can be anyone n this crowd. he listened in to everyone's conversations. Eavesdropping for information on Recollectors.

The outskirts of Chotwoilly were always quite deserted. Nobody dared or even cared to leave the city. To its inhabitants, life existed only inside the walls. Not many houses existed on the outside. An inn here, a cottage there...maybe even a cabin. Tameshira Kyousuke walked slowly down the path that followed along the wall. The path was dusty. Kyou seemed a little out of place there. You could not see his face, for it was hidden beneath a large cloak hood, but everything about him was black. From head to toe, he seemed like a moving independant shadow, prowling through the daylight, looking for rest. His steps were heavy, yet quiet. On his back, a large wrapped object sat tightly. People that crossed him stepped out of his way, some even running off. Kyou's real name origin was Project K.Y.O.U., meaning Kinetic Yami Obliterating Unit, a testing plan created by the Disregarders to try the implementation of microprocessors, memory chips and analyzing programs into the human mind to create a super weapon. Being a complete success, all was changed in Kyou, except for his human nature. He knew he could never co-operate with what the Disregarders did, so he escaped his holding cell, his prison room to the free world.

That incident was 4 years ago, long before the disappearances began...

Kyou walked up to an older gentleman, sitting on the side of the road, hood shading his face.

"Is this in fact, the city of Chotwoilly, kind sir?", he said in a low, almost baritone voice.

The old one only nodded, amazed by Kyou's appearance and how he towered so high above him, as if the entire world would darken if he stood over him.

"Thank you for your time...", said Kyou in reply, tossing the geezer a gold coin as he spun about, heading for the main gates, a few kilometers down the road. He cape flew up as he did so and we could clearly see beneath it the outline of a sword, many other tools. He also discovered that the large object on his back was, in fact, a huge blade...yet it shone with an odd brilliance, not common with metals...

Terrox listened in to the people. Nobody had a word to say about remembering the people. It was good because the Disregarder's idea was working, but bad, because he needed to weed out the Recollectors.

Terrox took a deep sigh as he murmured under his breath, annoyed, "Jeez... I hope I'm not the last to find them. I'm sure the other guys have found some by now." he stood up as he looked around, to see if any of his fellow Disregarders were anywhere to be found. He sighed deeply, there were no more Disregarders in the square. He sighed again exasperatedly as he continued his eavesdropping.

This average sunny day made Raish squint all the time. "Crap, this sun! Why the heck does it have to be so freaking bright?" He, with a mutter, cursed. Even with his hat shading his delicate eyes, the sun showed its glory in an almost taunting manner by reflecting off of every drop of water in the fountain in the town square and every piece of metal of jewel that others wore. Many stared at him as he walked throuhg the corwds, seemingly oblivious to their presence. Scanning the area, he felt an energy around him. "Somewhere around here... I know he is... That scoundrel, Terrox..." With an almost fluid-like motion he readied several darts in his left hand. Reaching the center of the huge square, he lowered his hat. Skimming the area once more, he rushed right towards a bench by the fountain. Stopping just short of Terrox, he stood, raised his hat, and laughed. "Ah, Terrox, you're here, too. I can't seem to get rid of you now can I?" He declared in a loud tone. With the greeting done with, he sat beside him and lowered his voice to a whisper, saying, "So, I'm hoping you're having much better luck than I am. I haven't found one single Recollector, yet."

Terrox turned to look at his ally, Raish, "Oh, hello, Raish. I see you're doing just as bad then, huh?" he sighed as he said, "Nope, but it's only been about 15 minutes. Someone should say something noteworthy sometime. You can check with the Pawn Shop if you wanna make sure any have been found." he listened to the chatting crowds. "I learned a lot from these people. The most popular brand names, who likes who, who was popular and the shows everyone was watching. Just no confused people having panic attacks over their 'problems'." referring to the disappearances, "Who's to bet the Favorites already found some Targets?"
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 5:41 pm

Raish sat back at Terrox agrreing at the bad luck. Raish was quick to respond saying, "Well, I've been throughout the town for about an hour now. I figured that some recollectors might be wandering the more vacant streets. I just got to the square a few minutes ago." His friend was very observant, but Raish ddin't have his attention span, so he couldn't focus on any of the vast conversations surrounding them. Lifting the brim of his hat to get a better look a the masses moving about the square. Most everyone seemed to be acting normally. "Not even one person here is acting the least bit suspicious or nervous. For mere teenagers, these recollectors are pretty good. If they weren't so fiesty, they could make decent disregarders. Ah, they're to rebellious to submit to that, though. Kids these days..." Raish thought, "Here I am talking like an old man. Compared to the recollectors and several disregarders, including Terrox, I am ancient!" He stood, stretched a little, and took a step from the becnh. His eyes caught someone moving alone, their eyes shifting back and forth with tension. Raish lowered the brim of his hat and melted into the multitudes. Drawing closer to the strange teenager, he still kept his distance. Although he had had his eye on him nearly the whole time, his prey had vanished into the crowds. Cursing, Raish returned to the bench where Terrox sat. "Eh, I lost him. If he is a recollector, he sure is a good one."

Terrox leaned back on the bench towards the fountain, he turned to Raish, "Find someone odd? Suspicious? Crazy?" as he took a deep sigh, "...Or another waste of time? I've found a pair of false alarms earlier. I might need a better place to search." he groaned to himself as he got up, "Care to try the Mall?"

Teresa meanders down the street, idly playing with her staff. She was bored. She had nothing better to do than think and wonder about the people who'd gone missing. She taps the clear globe of her staff against her lips as she contemplates who'd gone missing in her knowledge. There were a couple students from school, a few teachers, the baker. She frowned as she continued her meandering. How were these people connected to one another?

"A waste of time probably. I hope anyway. If they were a recollector, it isn't going to site well with..." Raish stopped there as they both knew the cruelty of their master. Raish stood up at terrox's question and said, "Sure, the mall sounds like a good place. At least it isn't so crowded that you can't move, like around this accursed square."
