So I've decided to see how everyone else is doing with their cosplay biggrin

I'm doing 3 costumes

Eimi Ohba - Done
Asahi Sakura- Almost done, just need to finish the skirt, and get shoes/nylons
Gaia Avatar- Need to find skirt/shoes/nylons, then that'll be done biggrin

So yes, just over 1 month til the con, how's everyone else doing?

I'm only doing one costume, but it's still not done. Mostly because I'm in college most of the year, heh.

I'm going as Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter (I don't know how many people know who that is). He's got pants and shirt that I still have to make, a skirt thingie which is done, and a vest thingie which is almost done. I have a short blond wig and the shoes I'll need, and the chains (his weapon) are in the process of being delivered to my house. I have 2 or 3 weeks after school lets out to finish it, and so long as I don't slack it should get done on time.

lol horrible!

I have yet to go out and get material for my Utena cosplay because mother refuses to take me! That, and she tells me to give up cause of the 'difficulty of the outfit'. It's the movie outfit and the fact m mother is a freakin homophobe.
Also, I plan on doin a Son Goku outfit... A slut version of the ancient outfit he wears. :3

Gaah... horrible. I'm doing 3 costumes....
1 Anime costume
Sakura (Tsubasa)
& then 2 Jrock costumes
Mana's cyberland costume
Mana's Illuminati [p-type] costme (Malice Mizer)

-The only one I have done is the Sakura costume because I made it for Llamacon... I pulled it out of the closet the other day only to discove that the damn gem thing in the middle of the shirt broke... or imploaded in on itself or... something. So, I have to fix that now....
-The only thing I have for my Mana cyberland costume are the blue & white roses for the headdress & the beads that go around the collar & sleeves.... which i accidently bought beads that are too small -_- I still need to buy fabric too ;_;
-And I was gonna make the last costume as well, but, where there's no time left.... I think I'm gonna just raid thift stores for clothes to alter for my Mana Illuminati [p-type] costume.... Which shouldn't be too hard... seeing as how it's basically just a leather skirt, a PVC jacket thing, a labcoat, & PVC gloves.

I'm making two costumes for myself, and one for my boyfriend.

Vampire Princess Miyu (TV version): finished
Vamprie Princess Miyu (OVA version): finished
Larva: Almost finished; I need to paint the gloves, and construct his scythe.

I'm kindof entering panic mode at this point. With only a few weeks before the con, I've still gots a long way to go. I haven't finished buying all of the materials I need, and I'm unsure of how I will go about creating parts of it. This is my first time cosplaying ever, so the pressure's really on. sweatdrop I hope I get it done on time (I think I will, anyway)...

If anyone's got any first-timer advice, I'd love to hear it!! 3nodding

Things are looking good here. My Sheila costume (from Mahou Shoujo Tai Alice) is nearly complete - got the skirt, sleeveless shirt (with little wings 3nodding ), gloves, hat, boot covers, gray wig (so much fun to cut/dye - 'tis my first time using a wig)... all I need to do now is to make her wand, and I think I'll be all set. I'm proud that most everything was made from scratch, with the exception of the shirt.

Makes me wonder if I'd have time to make another costume. I really only have the energy to do one thing at a time, so I'd never really considered doing another costume before this point.

Well, for one thing, I'm told I should bring some kind of "first aid kit" with me for just-in-case repairs...but I don't know what it is I should include in it. Also, is it okay to cosplay when I didn't sign up for any of the cosplay events? (I was too nervous...heh sweatdrop )

And I'm taking the T to the convention...which means I gotta go through town...in costume...before I get there. sad Is there a typical reaction I should look out for from the "normies" rofl or anything else I should watch out for??

I dunno, I didn't really have any specific tips in mind...just some experienced wisdom, I suppose. sweatdrop hehe

What looks to Look out for...
Akward ones, all you need is a bit of self-confidence and a touch of "******** these people" kinda attitude and your set.

I usually include a needle and thread in the colors of my costume, and fabri-tac glue. It's a godsend. I also keep a pair of small sewing scissors with me.

Actually, a first-aid kit isn't really necessary...AB has a "cosplay repair station" where you can find the supplies to touch up any just-in-cases.

Of course! Lots of people cosplay, and they don't have to be in one of the competitions. Actually, everyone who cosplays is eligible for the staff-vote contest, so even if you're too nervous to compete, you still might win a ribbon.

Some people on the T take a "don't look at them and maybe they can't see us" approach to cosplayers. Some may ask you where you're going or why you're dressed as you are. Most people will just ignore you. I've done it every year since AB started, and it's not a big deal. You just need to have a good attitude about it. Just act like you're dressed normally, like it's just another day, and you shouldn;t have any trouble.
