Earth Level
This is a dark and mysterious place. Its myriad swamps, coniferous forests and caves are filled with a sense of foreboding that put a lot of people off leaving the central city. This is for a good reason; this level is like a maze, with many explorers claimed by the earth, either swallowed up by the swamp or unable to find their way out of the deep caverns. The wildlife is adapted to the low light levels here, are good at tracking their prey and can be very savage. As many people again have been lost to these as to the conditions.
The city is partly built of tough wood and granite, but mostly based in an underground cave network many miles across in each direction. It is dimly lit by torches and can be confusing. Down there it is hard to remember which direction is which, and if you stray into the wrong cave you could find yourself leaving the city and heading out into the wilderness.
Sunchildren hate the darkness down here, while Dragons find it claustrophobic, but Vampires love it and Faeries enjoy the air of mystery.
