This is the thread dedicated to discussing Malice Mizer's work as a whole. You can discuss possible connections and themes between all of their work, the musical progression (or regression) of their career and ideas, and discuss what each member brought to the group musically and stylistically. So long as the discussion has to do with Malice Mizer's works in relation to each other then this is the place to discuss it!

I think that overall, Klaha was the best vocalist. His voice and his style fit the Malice Mizer concept perfectly.

True, true. Klaha's vocal style and range was very consistent with the concept the band was trying to portray. I must say that he isn't my favorite vocalist (Tetsu takes that spot), but I think he was a perfect fit for the band.
Gackt was pretty decent, but I don't think his style suited the band that much.

Personally I think that Tetsu was a terrible vocalist. D:
Gackt was the best with Klaha very close behind. Gackt and Klaha had very similar voices but Gackt's was always more powerful. I think that they each had their own best songs to their own respective vocal eras. With Klaha it was Beast of Blood and with Gackt it was probably Syunikiss.

I honestly don't think any one vocalist was better than the others. I think each vocalist did a decent job at vocally matching the sound of each era's music. I couldn't imagine Gackt singing Klaha era songs just as I couldn't imagine Klaha singing Tetsu era songs. I REALLY can't imagine hearing Gackt sing Klaha era songs. Could you imagine Beast of Blood with Gackt vocals? NOTHANKYOU

I agree! Really it depends on which songs your comparing. But I think Klaha was a better fit! Gackt was way to energetic! If you watch him during some of the lives he was a little to wild and he moved to much like he does today. But the Gackt Era was my favorite! I'm a die-hard Kami lover with Kozi in a close second!

I agree with you 100%! X3 I'd have to say I love Gackt era the most... The music is wonderful and memorable..They had the most interesting costumes during that era as well..But I try to enjoy all the era's. I like Klaha's work and I even have some Testu stuff and I like them all.((Kami is definetly my favorite though, followed by Kozi.. He's so silly! ;D))

I agree with those of you that like the Gackt Era the best. While Gackt is energetic and insane on stage, that makes him all the more memorable. He made you want to watch their lives even more. (or myself anyway) He always seemed to have a certain charm about his voice (and he still does to this day) and it is something that is hard to resist.
I do like the Klaha Era too, but not as much as the Gackt Era. Klaha is a wonderful vocalist, but, like I said, Gackt has a certain charm. The Klaha Era was the most different sounding era, to me anyway. It sounded more... Choir based, and focused more on a dark, gothic feel than the other eras. This is definitely not a bad thing, but it was a change in the Malice Mizer sound.
All in all, Malice Mizer was a band of pure genius. Mana and Kozi put the band together well, and managed to keep it together for quite sometime.
The thing that I believe tore them apart, and I may be the only one that thinks this, is Kami's death. Kami was a marvelous man and his skill was amazing. It may just be my love for Kami that is making me say that, but I believe that it was one of the main factors that affected Malice Mizer's breakup.
RIP Kami.
