Local Ghost Stories

Okay, so we've got our Local Legends, but what about those ghost stories? Gotta have those.

Anywho, to get this things started, I'll post my Local Ghost Story.

Okay, there's this property (I actually live just across from it), and it's haunted (pretty bad too), but nothing serious. The spirits just like their presence to be known, and they make it apparent in our house as well. Anywho, according to my mom, who told me this story, a long time ago there lived a little family (family of three). (Also this property is very large and the house is a mansion). The family consists of the Mother, Father, and a little girl.

One day, the little girl went to play outside; near the river (yes, there's a river that goes through the property from the park across the road). And the mother was supposedly outside. So the little girl is playing... When she falls in. And this river, is not an ordinary river. This river, is more than 6 feet deep (I know, my friends and I were regretfully being stupid around there and my friend lost his sandle in the river and had to go get it... lets just say he got soaked). Anyways, the little girl is struggling, screaming and yelling for her mother.

| Now the father I believe was off somewhere, it isn't really known where he was. He had either died, went to war or left the family. |

So, the mother is trying desperatly to get her daughter out of the river, but of course; the river being so deep the little girl would keep going under before returning to the top....... Till finally... She drowned. The mother wheeped and wheeped for days, weeks and months.

[There are two ways to this next part, we're not too sure]

Finally the mother just had to end her life and her sorrow... So she stabbed herself.

OR

She lived alone, till she grew old and weary and eventually died; with regret, and sorrow in her heart.

Sorry, that story might seem a bit jumbled. And at some parts it may seem like I don't know the story, but it's only because I'm remembering what my mom told me when I was like 6 (I'm 15 now) so it's a little bit hard. But that's pretty much the story; she wont talk to me when I mention it... But it's probably expected. The mother and daughter both run/walk around our house. Id know, I've tripped over the little girl twice and my mom hears the mother.

Discussion:
~Tell some of your Local Ghost Stories
~And just plain discuss the stories (like about the ghosts, feelings, sightings and what not)

I've sort of got two. The first is just a place, about a mile from my parent's house, that is rumored to be haunted. There's a farm field at the corner of 38 and 29 where there used to be a house, but it burned down. I don't know how many people supposedly died or what kind of activity you can catch, but from what I've heard, everyone who goes out there catches something. The only catch is that it's a busy intersection, so you're likely to be seen by cops, which is the only reason I haven't gone out there myself.

The second one isn't one of those local legends that everyone knows about (well, as far as I know), but it's a story I heard from a coworker.

She and her husband went after work to take pictures of an old abandon house. It was plantation style, so there was some really great architecture that had fallen into disrepair.

They drove around the block three or four times to make sure that it wasn't inhabited, and it didn't look like there were any squatters. They parked the car and took their cameras.

First they looked at an outbuilding, which was a school room. Inside was a desk, some debris, and, according to Sarah, a little girl, about eight, in a white dress with black hair running away from them. She blinked, and assumed it was her imagination since she'd only seen it out of the corner of her eye.

They went into the house itself. It was a sunny day, and they made their way through the kitchen, living area. They could hear footsteps from upstairs. three steps here, then three from across the room, then three just above their heads. Admitting it was a bit odd, they proceeded with caution, thinking that if anything it was a homeless person.

They reached the stairs. Halfway up, they heard a noise like someone was sawing at the staircase. Convinced it was about to collapse beneath them, they ran up to the second floor. Doors started slamming, they could hear noises, footsteps, voices, etc. Finally convinced, they hightailed it out of there.

When they got to the car, the necklace Sarah had been playing with on the way over was dangling from the radio antennae, but she'd left it on the dash with the doors closed and the windows up. No one was around.

They went directly to get the pictures developed. All of them came out completely black, except for one, which neither of them remembered taking. It was of a sign on a gate and read: "Keep Out."
