Technocracy is WhileTrue Software Co.'s first official full-version video game. It is a side-scrolling action game which takes elements of Super Smash Bros. and combines them with sneaky ninja tactics in an anime-style world. For more information on the game, you can visit its website at http://technocracy.sourceforge.net (which I haven't updated in some time).

Now, this game is a particular challenge to me for one main reason: the animations need to be hand-drawn, but I'm no good with hand drawing. And since I know Gaia is so full of artists, I was kind of hoping I could get a bit of help in this department.

If you'd like to help out with some drawings or animations (and get your name in the credits of a video game biggrin ), I'd like to hear from you! In particular, I need basic profile drawings and concept art of as many characters as possible. I have some descriptions of a few of them on the Info page at http://technocracy.sourceforge.net, but none of those include physical descriptions, and only Shira has any existing artwork. Here's a list of the characters that I have now:

  • Shira Roseburn: The main playable character. Shira is a 14-year-old Asian-ish girl with brown hair. Her usual outfit is black and dark grey, with the Yin half of a Yin-Yang on her back. She has no sleeves. She holds herself upright and alert, as a result of her ninja training.
Shira's shoes resemble Samus's in this image:

Shira has some existing concept art:

  • Amiel Trenic: Amiel is the same age and height as Shira, with light-colored hair and a pair of sunglasses. He is blind, but the way he turns his head with his attention would suggest to anyone who didn't know better that he's simply trying to look cool. He usually wears a grey tee shirt and dark blue jeans, as well as a belt with a fist-sized rectangular metal plate in place of a buckle.

  • Ghost: Ghost dresses like a stereotypical spy: armyish boots, a long trenchcoat, and, most importantly, a wide-brimmed spy hat which seems to shroud his face in shadow no matter how you look at him. In this way, he resembles a Black Mage, except that his eyes do not glow. He wears gloves and carries a shotgun in his left hand. His trenchcoat is big enough to fit a laptop in each side, as indeed he does several times during the game. He towers about three feet over Shira and Amiel.

For now, the rest of my characters do not have physical descriptions for me to post. I'll be fixing that soon.

So, yeah, any of those that inspires any of you? I sure hope so, 'cause I can't do this by myself. Of course, feel free to ask questions about anything. I'll be hapy to make something up if I haven't thought of it yet. 3nodding

I can try doing some concept art for your female characters once my midterms are over, but I'm no good with animation, though.

Shira.....young, short-brown-haired female Asian ninja with a headband...dressed predominantly in grey.... well, it might conjure an image a little bit too much like Yuffie in FFAC, is my warning. Or it just might be my obsessiveness with FFVII that makes me draw this conclusion though.

Sounds about right, minus the headband.
I don't even know why I drew that. razz

The game's kind of a spoof of... well, everything. If someone looks a bit like someone else, it only enhances the... spoofery? Is that a word? neutral

SPOOFERY. Awesome. Even if it's not a word, it should be cool

Y'know what? Now that I think about it, I don't really need anyone else to do animations for me. I can trace whatever drawings I get into a vector editor, then move and animate body parts myself to get what I need. biggrin

So, yeah, I don't need animators any more. Just anime artists.

That's too bad, cause I know several people in Algonquin College's Animation program, one of them I believe is a better artist than Robert Bateman... It's scaary how good this guy is....

This one particular person is the one who got me into drawing in the frist place, so he's definately good. wink

Oh, well, if someone CAN do animations, I'm all for that. biggrin

By the way, if anyone needs larger versions of that drawing of Shira, I can render them out for you. It's all done in SVG.

If i have free time during camp I'll see if I can draw stuff, but most likely I'll be at the archery range.. wink
