. . . . Silly title XD
Anyway, maybe it's those 1000000 page fantasy novels that look too intimidating to even pick up off of the shelf, or maybe it's though smutty romance novels with the girls and the cowboys on the covers, or, well . . . . Anything.
What won't you read?
Well, the ones I usually don't even pick up are the fantasy novels with the cheesy art on the covers(*gaspshock* I judge books by their covers!), or those Vampire novels with the ridiculous titles like 'Children of Bloooooooood' >.>; I love Vampire novels, but . . . . LMAO XD
The types of books I stop in the middle with are the ones that - on first glance - don't seem bad, but then something happens, and they turn smutty, or the main character turns out to be a moron. Y'know. Like The Vampire Armand, by Anne Rice (and the crowd goes 'oooooh, that hurt') razz

I always give a book a chance (unless I know it's going to be horribly bad because of previous books or it just comes off as a romance/lust book with random sex scenes when the main characters should be running for their lives).

But a lot of books I'll stop in the middle because they might be going too slow for me or the story might just not make any sense and everything is being just, shot at me throw a cannon. And some just get way to mushy, romancy.

Harry Potter. *shudder* Good lord. I've read enough of the series to know I hate it, hate Rowling's writing style, hate her plot, her characters, and her ripping off of one of my favourite books as a kid: The Worst Witch.

Which I have a feeling I might be verbally stoned for, considering HP's popularity XD

I also can't stand Lord of the Rings. The first book bored me to tears. Tolkien's writing style is just far too long-winded for me.

Yes! A fellow HP-hater. I read the first three books and the rest of my family keeps trying to con me into reading the other new ones. It's just too...I dunno. I just can't stand the storyline. It seems a little too obvious after you've read the first book.

Books I won't read:
Anything with Fabio on the cover.
Also those Sci-Fi books that have all that quasi-scientifical mumbo jumbo in them. You know, like, Start the forward Zeercanion crystal thruster engine protocol cannons, or something like that. Considering I'm a bit of a Trekkie, if I can't follow it. talk2hand

As for Harry Potter:
You won't get flamed! They better not try it at least because, I don't like that.

Although, Tallie and I both really like the Harry Potter books. You're the first person I've heard, besides myself to say how similair it is to The Worst Witch! Bravo. It seemed to me that I was the only one to remember that series. Tallie used to watch the craptacular movie version when she was a little kid. It had Faruza Balk and Tim Curry. I love Faruza Balk.
Anyway, even though the books are similair as I've always said, there's always room for something new and/or better to come along. Almost all fantasy novels are somewhat imitating the things that went before but, of course you are right also, the similairities are uncanny. I need to read those Worst Witch books again since I can only remember them in the vaguest way.

I wouldn't be against either of you disliking Harry Potter since, it seems that you both gave it a try before forming an opinion. The only people that make me angry are the ones that seem determined not to like something just because it's popular. Those people really annoy me. Probably because I used to be contrary like that myself when I was younger. LOL

lord of the rings. love the movies, but can't understand the books. they drove me crazy and they dragged on...

i don't really care for those lengthly adult romantic novels that are all lovey dovey and you don't know what the heck the author is talking about because of all the metaphors.

Yep. Tolkien's books are definitely better in movie format razz Like that old animated version of The Hobbit? It was wonderful. But, I tried to read the book The Hobbit, and bleh >.>; His style is so dry and boring.

amazingly i actually liked Tolkiens books..... oh well, but the type of books that I will not read are love novels, which are fine I just dont like their plots, and yes the Harry Potter books I have read to many, i found a consistency in the books so that its almost predictable what is going to happen, and even if I dont read them i hear how they began what happened and how they ended from all my friends, they love the books, so their is not need for me to read them. Although I can understand why people enjoy reading them, im more into classical books, what i consider classics, like " The Good Earth", or "Cry the Beloved Country". mmm their good!

There is honestly only one book I have put down never to pick up. Well, other than wicked, but I plan to continue reading it... eventually. It was something by R.A. Salvatore, the second Demon Wars. It was... too much politics. UGH. I do not like politics, and will not read it. And when Nicole Rose told me I should be president...

There's not much that I won't really read, but one of the few that I refuse to read are HP 4-6. I just can't stand those anymore. Also, I've read books from the early 1900's and I hated all of those. stressed I mean, the writing style from those times just annoy the heck out of me! I mean, you don't need to write 10 pages describing something, just so your readers will have the exact picture in their head. The imagination in those stories dies when they are telling you exactly what to think. The same things are with the Lord of the Rings books. I won't even go near those....
so maybe I'm just a little too picky, but what can I say? I like to use my imagination. 3nodding heart sweatdrop

For some reason I don't really like nonfiction. I don't like Sci-fi much either, sorry guys. v.v I love my fantasy. *Flies around.* It helps me escape the troubles of every day life and puts my mind somewhere else. =3 I'llr ead those huge books, but I on'y finish them if I'm really into the book. I've read my 10000 page books before, though. ><

Has anyone read Snow Walker?

I will admit that I judge books by the covers... If I'm going to the library and just looking for a book, then I won't read anything that doesn't have an interesting cover. I also don't like to read anything Sci-Fi. I'm more of a Romance person. I don't like the old person romance novels with the weird people all over each other on the covers, though. Actually, I've never actually tried to read one, the covers just kind of draw me away...
