Yes, it's true. Nintendo has named their new console the Wii, pronounced "we". To be honest, I didn't know what to think when I first heard this. I started by thinking that it was a typo for WiFi, then continued on to thinking it was pronounced "why". But now that I've said the name, and read out loud a couple of articles which mention it, the awkward, difficult-to-understand Wii has become the natural, don't-need-to-understand Wii. It comes to me now the same way as Google and Super Monkey Ball. Sure, they might sound funny, but their meaning overcomes their sound.
For those of you who haven't heard this news yet, I'd like to hear your immediate reaction to this post. If you already knew, feel free to express your opinions on this... unique name.

Yes, that seems to be a common sentiment. I don't know if I agree with it yet or not. I guess I'll find out when I get a chance to play it.

I understand like they want to make it simple for a huge demographic...but come on...there's gotta be hundreds of better noninsulting words.

CobraLeader Do you realize how many offensive puns the name wii has brought over? Yes. Two. Both of which are repeated to the point where they lose their meaning, and neither of which were funny to begin with. wink
