By our Queen's mercy, it is the year 1258. Before Sehket's Awakening, Wynander was a city with a proud heritage and traditions. The city was once a war-neutral, free trade zone in which people of different lands and cultures could gather and exchange goods. Treaties between different nations were signed within its walls, and it even became a sanctuary for those escaping political persecution and the horrors of war.

Even common people could live a comfortable life; often townspeople would engage in a trade to make a living, selling their goods through a shop or the crowded streets of the marketplace. Importing and exporting goods was one of the most profitable pursuits, and such business was encouraged by Wynanader's position by the sea and the diverse roadways that lead into the city. The aristocracy was known to set new fashion trends that would spread to other areas of the world; they indulged in a life of pleasure after acquiring a fortune through trade. Mayor Julius Pruest enforced the laws of the city with trained guards, although some illegal markets could still be found in areas of the city.

In the year 1248, terror fell upon Wynander. When the people awoke that morning, they found the clouds above casting shadows over their fair city. The gates of Wynander had been locked overnight, and the soldiers who went to investigate did not return. Men who tried to escape by boat or through crevices in the walls also disappeared mysteriously. Those who survived were shaken and disturbed, speaking of fearsome beasts that had once existed only in imagination. During this ominous time, Mayor Pruest's manor was silenced and closed to the world. It was not until a series of murders tore through the city that the people became truly panicked. Wynander fell into chaos as people grew desperate for escape and the soldiers became uncoordinated without the leadership of the mayor. Supplies and necessities began to run dry, and during this phase, Sehket revealed himself for the first time. His minions, the Jokers, were responsible for the murders throughout the city, and are creatures frightening to confront.

After his Awakening, Sehket kept to the shadows, allowing fear to spread through rumors. Ruthless human criminals were recruited for his Peace Enforcement unit. Although these soldiers were established as the police for the city, they act more like a ruthless group of bandits given authority and power over the common people. A constant shortage of food, medicine, and other necessities created conflicts between friends and relatives. The number of orphans greatly increased as parents were no longer able to feed them. Corrupt merchants began to kidnap orphans and offer them through slave trades, as slaves became a symbol of high status in the new society. Friends robbed from each other, the conflicts often resulting in murder. Meanwhile, Sehket found the chaos to be greatly entertaining.

.: Technology/Weaponry :.

Wynander does not have very much advanced technoloy. Travel is still done by wooden boats or horses and carts. Weapons such as guns, lasers, etc. do not exist. Most of the poor possess crude weapons, like clubs constructed from logs. Some people carry daggers, and mercenaries, Peace Enforcement units, and trained fighters carry their swords openly.

.: Medicine :.

Knowledge and advancements involving human health are fairly crude, although there are some inventions like spectacles. Most medicine is restricted to herbal treatments and brewed concoctions. Other people believe in spiritual or religious healing; however, although these spiritual healers claim they have supernatural abilities, they are frauds.

.: Rumors/Information :.

Each week, an underground press called the Early Robin publishes a one-page document listing "news-related" information about important events around Wynander. These pamphlets are careful to avoid subjects involving Sehket, but have been deemed to be illegal. Those who have been found in possession of such documents have been executed in the past. Thus far, the writer and publisher of the Early Robin have escaped capture.

Summary below was compiled and written by the members of the Persona RP.

All posts with an (x) next to them are finished, and open for editing.

Quote:
(x) Elliot & Adlei- Are very informative. The pair fly around, and drop important plot references, like information on monsters/demons and Trish's Fountain and stuff. They end up on Aaric's roof. Aaric cares for them. Grondax shows up. Sensing that Grondax is a turd, they break a window and run away like woah.

(x)Nekura- Is new to Wynander. He compares Wynander to hell. A lot. Flutters around town until he runs into Grondax. Grondax advises him to stop looking like jailbait. Nekura tells Grondax he is a doctor/alchemist, which Grondax finds very interesting. Nekura now works for Grondax, who offers him a room to work in. Nekura accepts, leaves, and runs into Ayira, who is very wounded and vunerable. He doctors her. They hit it off. He refuses her advances, but is secretly, tragically, attracted to her. However, pesky moral codes get in the way and, after accepting a room from her, they split up and he head to the room Grondax offered him to collect his stuff. Grondax's goons are there; Nekura gets pissed at being treated like "something to be owned," puts on his mask, and chews out his employer, mentioning there are probably guards heading off the exits. Grondax smoothes it over for the moment with his mad diplomacy skillz. Valerius (disguised as a distressed merchant,) rushes in to emphasize how distressed and merchant-ey he is. Nekura, unfazed, leaves and looks around for a book shop. He meets Emi in the Lost district and ends up buying a book from her for three travel cakes. Heads back, starts undressing, is visited by Ayira and continues half-heartedly fending her off. He informs her that, by his moral codes, he would only give in to a "good girl."

(x)Larry- Wakes up. Meets Nameless. Sets off on quest to find a child and the key the kid has swallowed. Hits Severin with a rock. Convinces Severin to accompany him on quest. Pair discovers they each have Tarot cards. Larry gets address of the man who kidnapped the kid. Larry and Severin agree to meet again that evening, and part ways. Larry gets baby and goes home. L & S meet that evening, and go opposite direction than planned. They run into Chous. Yami has collapsed. Severin takes care of sisters, Larry preoccupies Annie. Remains oblivious to angst taking place behind him. Annie offers her store for shelter from rain. Everyone goes inside. Larry and Annie continue talking, Severin plays doctor. Larry has to leave, but gives Severin directions to his house first. Goes home. Sleeps.

(x)Easter- Is very tragic. Meets Demon Artist. Gets baby. Wanders around. Meets Ayira, gets offer to swing by whorehouse anytime. Wanders around some more.

(x)Severin- Is also very tragic. Although he lives in a graveyard and is mildly crazy cannibal, he holds a steady job which consists of butchering dead people for man meat. Grondax, who owns Severin via blackmail, provides people for butchering. Grondax brings Severin live kid for just that. Severin welches. Grondax kills kid, picks up prepackaged man meat, and vamooses. Severin decides to go home and eat someone. Larry hits him with a rock, then convinces him to go on a quest. Pair discovers they each have Tarot cards. Larry finishes primary mission, and they arrange to meet again that evening. Severin feels cheery. He goes back to work and discovers he's carving the kid Larry's looking for. Much angst ensues. They meet again as scheduled, and go the wrong way, running into the Chou sisters. Severin ate their dad, Hikari recognizes him, and much angst ensues. Annie offers her store for everyone to stay. Larry leaves, but gives Severin his address first. Yami wakes up and has amnesia. Severin escorts the girls home. Discovers Hikari also has Tarot card. Apparently Severin has now established relationships with all current female Personas, quite possibly for pimping purposes.

(x)Kismet- Runs into Nameless, who she thinks is a stalker. Goes to Velvet Room. Gets baby. Goes to work, is followed by Morgan and Igraine. Realizes baby + exotic dancing - babysitter = not good. Decides to keep baby anyway.

(x)Feyd- Wakes up to a noisy roof. Goes up to yell at actors, finds Elliot and Adlei instead. He takes them inside and cares for them. Grondax shows up, and threatens Feyd. Elliot and Adlei break Feyd's window and run away like woah. Feyd foils Grondax with his mad acting skills. Grondax leaves. Feyd has to repair the window. It takes all day, but window is repaired.

(x)Hikari & Yami- Decide to venture out to get groceries. They run into Annie. Annie can not run into them, because she can't run at all. They mildly squabble about a dropped apple. Annie offers to squabble inside, because it's raining. After H & Y go back outside, Yami collapses. Larry and Severin stumble over the scene. Severin begins to help, but apparently he ate the girls' father, and Hikari recognizes him. Much angst ensues. Annie offers the shop she works in for shelter. Everyone hurries inside again. Larry leaves. Yami wakes up, but has amnesia. Much angst ensues. Severin escorts the sisters home. Or is currently. He hasn't quite finished escorting. Hikari pulls out Tarot card in attempt to jog Yami's memory. Severin shows Hikari his Tarot card.

(x)Emi- Went grocery shopping, found her merchant had to heighten his price and subsequently tried to boost sales by starting a sale. Rubido interrupted her plan and she talked him down for it- throwing a black book at his head when he walked off. Rubido returned the book and Emi left. Once it started raining, Emi took a break in the Lost district where she was reminded of her dark, mysterious past. Nekura stopped to cheer her up and ended up with directions to her store. They met there and she sold him a book on medicine for three travel cakes.

(x)Rudibo- Ran into Emi when she tried to start a huge sale, he assumed she was trying to run the merchant out of business by destroying his profits. Interceded, succeeded, was verbally flayed, and walked off very confused. Did his work, went home to "enjoy the rain," ended up slightly drunk and made a racket outside.

(x)Grondax- Spends his day owning everybody. After buying a kid off of the kid black market for kids, Grondax goes to see Severin, who he owns. Severin welches and doesn't want to kill kid. Grondax does it for him, picks up packaged man meat, and angsts for like two seconds, after which he decides he doesn't really care that much. Grondax meets Nekura, establishes business relationship. Now owns Nekura. Grondax visits theatre because thespians are too smug for their own good. Tries to own Feyd, but Feyd is wily and too pretty to be owned, kind of like a wild stallion, or something. Grondax leaves to comfort himself with pink doctor ownage, and meets Valerius. Valerius fanboys Grondax. Grondax sees potential for more ownage. The pair go on a quest, in which they find and harass Nekura. Grondax takes Valerius home, gives him a flower (pin) and now owns Valerius. Grondax (and his fanclub members) established as characters not to screw with.

(x)Annie- Meets up with Hikari and Yami in the marketplace and rants about an apple. Offers shelter when the rain starts and is refused. Goes back to her store in a temper, then re-offers shelter when Yami collapses. Talks to Larry. Admires the cute baby. Piddles about through the angst. Gets the crap kicked out of her by drunken boss. Sends the Doctor, Hikari, and Yami out on their way. Enjoys a brief moment of cyncism. Goes to sleep.

(x)Eli- Has like one post. It's in purple. Just read it.

(x)Zasar- Is an awesome pirate. Meets Mercy. They walk and talk, then have dinner. Leave together.

(x)Mercy- Is an awesome...child trainer chick. Meets Zasar. They walk and talk, then have dinner. Leave together.

(x)Valerius- Is an awesome ex-soldier, but a sucky navigator. Runs into Grondax. Fanboys Grondax. The pair go on a quest, in which they find and harass Nekura. Grondax takes Valerius home, shows him his doll collection, gives him a flower (pin), and also a soliloquy about beauty and the darkness in men's hearts, or something. Valerius goes home with official Grondax Fanboy Club Flower Pin.

(x)Morgan & Igraine- Are brother and sister, but like to act like a couple instead. They decide to stalk Kismet for giggles, and follow her into her place of work, which is very shady.

(x)Ayira- Sees Easter, feels touched and offers her help, but is refused. Heads back, trips, and cries for help. Nekura stitches her up and carries her back to the Red Rat, where she proceeds to seduce him. Resisted, she ends up offering him a private room to work in and continues trying to get into his pants. He continues refusing, and she is inexplicably attracted to him. ("What is it about this man?") Later that night she drops into his room to find him undressing, and encourages him to continue. He informs her that he is looking for a "good girl," and, however frustrated, she admits that she isn't going to change.

These are not just rules of the game; these are LAWS. You will follow all laws posted, or risk the wrath of the game master. Do not dispute the laws I have written; I have taken careful time to consider each one, and have even received second opinions from other roleplayers.

.: Outline of Laws :.

Section i. Basic Laws of Gameplay Format
Section ii. Basic Laws of In-Game Play
Section iii. Inviting Pets

Basic Laws of Gameplay Format

Basic Laws of Gameplay Format

[ x ] YOU MAY NOT PLAY IN THIS GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE READ THE RULES AND SUBMITTED AN APPLICATION TO CHIAKU. Character information can be found in the Character Encyclopedia in the Guild HQ, and the actual is located here.

[ x ] What Is the Calendar? The calendar consists of four "months" or seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn. Each season has 12 RP days. Time is greatly accelerated in the game because of the length of time it takes for us to get through one RP day.

[ x ] All posts should be written in the third-person perspective (she/he/it), and in the past tense (was/bought/jogged).

[ x ] A day in the game may take longer than one day in real life. Because of this, I will announce during intervals in the game, "Date: Autumn 11, Time: Late Afternoon, Weather: Cloudy" to orient you with the current setting.

[ x ] DO NOT post one-liners in this thread. If you post something, make sure it has some substance; as in, most posts should be at least 2-4 sentences long.

[ x ] If you have any sort of question, concern, and remark about the game, please post it in the shop/headquarter thread; I will see it there. I feel that it ruins the flow and atmosphere of the story if people start making random comments about real life in the middle of a game. Even if someone walks into the forum and posts something like, "hey, guyz, i want some gold som1 giv me some!!!!!11111eleven", do not respond to this post with witty remarks. Just ignore it and keep RPing; I will handle the situation.

[ x ] You may only roleplay in this forum. If you have some remark about real life, no matter how small it is, DO NOT post it here. Go to the shop/headquarters forum.

[ x ] Refrain from posting emoticons as much as possible. I am putting a restriction on emoticon use because I don't want people to abuse them in the game.

[ x ] If you are responding to someone else, take out all of the "So-and-So Wrote:" so that there is only one box.
DO NOT do this:
Quote:
He said that.
Quote:
I said this.
Quote:
He said that.
Quote:
I said this.

I said this.

DO this:
Quote:
He said that.

I said this.

Basic Laws of In-Game Play

Basic Laws of In-Game Play

[ x ] If Chiaku wants you to change something you have written in your post, DO SO. I will probaby also supply a reason for why I wish you to change it, so do not complain or throw a fit.

[ x ] No character aside from the Actors may have super powers. All of the townspeople are humans. If you want your character to be special in some way, PM Chiaku first and ask if the specialness is Ok to roleplay.

[ x ] DO NOT ask Chiaku to evolve your Actor or give more Special Events. These are usually timed processes, and I will not hand them out by request.

[ x ] DO NOT make references to the real/modern world if you can avoid it. For example, the people of Wynander would not know of the existence of Adolf Hitler, televisions, or Australia. Certain things are allowed, like the food the villagers eat, but I wish to limit the relationship between Wynander and the real world as much as possible.

[ x ] DO NOT speed up the time of the game, just because you want something done. At random intervals, Chiaku will post the new time for the game when she sees it fit. See the Basic Laws of Gameplay Format for more information.

[ x ] DO NOT in any way, form, or manner control another character that does not belong to you. If you're revealing a secret and you think everyone should be shocked, you are NOT allowed to write something like, "Chiaku said her secret lover was the Masked Crusader and SailorM4ev was obviously amazed." Feel free to ask someone by PM to react a certain way if you want.

[ x ] No matter how exciting or adventurous your real life is, do NOT write about it in your journal (save the section which contains, "Information About You"). This journal is for RP purposes only.

[ x ] Posting in the journal should follow most of the same rules as posting in the RP forum.

Inviting Pets

How to Invite Pets

Would you like to invite a Gaian pet to come live with us in Wynander? Because of the many restrictions in the game that help maintain its atmosphere, I would like you to PM me and ask first whether you may roleplay your pet in our game. However, ask yourself the following questions first (if you answer yes to any of them, you may want to reconsider asking):

[ ? ] Is your pet bigger in size than a large dog?
[ ? ] Does your pet have some special power, like the ability to turn into mist or speak to humans?
[ ? ] Is your pet not based on some sort of animal in real life (as in, it is some sort of monster/creature that possesses very little likeness to a dog, cat, etc.)? Is it based on some sort of animal that is larger than a dog?
[ ? ] Is your pet going to appear more frequently in the game than most of the other members (as in, you post more for your pet than most other members so that it actually become part of the main cast instead of a side character)?
[ ? ] Is your pet dangerous and highly unstable in some way?

Let me explain some of the reasoning behind these rules. I want this game to be realistic in all manners possible (aside from certain fantasy themes that I have selected). How many lions do you see people keeping in their backyards for pets? Ok, then. According to my logic, it would be just as difficult to tame and domesticate lions in real life as it would to tame and domesticate griffons in our imaginary world. Larger animals generally mean more difficulty in taming them. Also, the more apt they are to cause significant damage, the less likely you will be able to tame them. (If you disagree on this point and say, "Hey, but my character is good with animals! He can even speak to them, so they like him! Blah blah blah!" then you didn't read my point on the characters in this game being mere humans. If you can prove to me that you keep a tiger as a pet in real life, outside of a cage and letting it frolic about your yard, then I will let you have a large/dangerous pet in this game.)

Prior to Sehket's Awakening, Wynander was divided into several housing, shopping, and manufacturing districts. These divisions have become even more emphasized during Sehket's reign, with different social classes inhabiting assigned communities within the city. From the slums of the Lost District to the beast-infested grounds of the Rosewall Gardens, Wynander's areas are as distinct and varied as the people inhabiting them.

User Image

[ x ] Lystar Community :: Lystar is the newest area of the city, although houses have decayed rapidly after Sehket's Awakening. Internal conflicts are common with the neighborhoods; most of its members deny the current state of the city and greedily hoard material goods so that their lives can resemble what they once were. Some prominent families have purchased slaves to defend their territory; however, there is a high incidence of slaves escaping due to the poor conditions.

[ x ] Rumwell Community :: This community has become home to many of the city's orphans. Even at such a young age, it is not uncommon to see these children forming "brotherhoods" or gangs to protect themselves against the various threats of Wynander. Congregation of children in Rumwell has led to a number of charity houses in this community. Unfortunately, because charity houses are illegal, they are extremely well-hidden and sometimes speculated to be nothing more than rumors.

[ x ] Marsalle Estates :: Marsalle Estates is the home to the wealthiest--and most corrupt--men in Wynander. The residents of this community are small in number, but each one owns a private army to protect his land, and an iron wall has been constructed around the premises to keep its privacy. These men have found themselves in such comfortable positions because they have gained favor from Sehket by committing atrocious acts against others. Some small shops within the community's walls sell precious porcelain, jewels, and other treasures that were stolen from houses outside of Marsalle.

[ x ] Lost District :: One of the oldest parts of Wynander, the Lost District is host to corruption and shadier shops and services. The goods offered in this area range from banned texts to human slaves. The surface is scarred, many buildings are nothing more than hollow skeletons on the verge of collapse; most of the residents and shops are restricted to basements. Because there is no form of government or order operating in the Lost District, many businesses, including whorehouses and underground markets, are guarded by hired bodyguards. Mercenaries often wait at the entrances of the district, and will escort outsiders to their destinations--for a price.

[ x ] Kensington District :: Kensington caters to most shoppers, stocking a number of essential items, like food and medicine. However, because of the scarcity of these goods, greedy merchants sell their products for sickening prices. For a handful of flour, a merchant may barter for a collection of family silverware--and the ones influenced more by Sehket may ask for a young boy's eyes.

[ x ] Harbor :: Many goods that arrived by ship were once sold in the Kensington marketplace. Since Sehket's Awakening, ships have remained in the harbor; those that attempted to brave the sea were destroyed by beasts. Foreigners and sailors inhabit some of the remaining warehouses and sell cheap crafts, like pottery and baskets, to those who have spare coins. This is also a popular home to mercenaries.

[ x ] University :: Once a site for teaching and learning the arts and sciences, the university has been converted to the training grounds for Peace Enforcement officers. It is well known that the university stores all incoming shipments of food and other goods, but this high-security area allows no trespassers. Thieves serve as enjoyment for Peace Enforcement officers; the lucky ones leave after their hands are taken.

[ x ] Rosewall Gardens :: Rosewall Garden was named for the tall bushes of thorns and roses that surround it. After Sehket's Awakening, this peaceful park maintained by the former mayor became a chaos area. It appears to be the resting and breeding grounds for many of Sehket's beasts, and should be avoided by humans. However, the stone fountain at the center of the garden is rumored to hold a magnificient treasure that is important to Sehket.

[ x ] Warehouses :: From time to time, one can find valuable commodities here; perhaps a small bag of tea or salt. This area is popular among scavengers and thieves, who can be quite violent. Unfortunately, the stores of food and items in this area have been drained over the years, and it is difficult to find anything useful anymore.

[ x ] Boneyard :: A frighteningly large stone cathedral overlooks the Boneyard, where people sometimes bring their dying friends and relatives. It is relatively quiet and desolate, except for the animals that one will find here. Ravenous dogs travel in packs through this area, devouring corpses that still have meat.

[ x ] Stables/Courtyard :: The front courtyard of Wynander was once a place for foreign merchants to trade their good. Now it is nothing more than an abandoned expanse of dirt and empty wooden stalls. A few people have found this place to be a peaceful home away from other areas of the city.

[ x ] Training Grounds/Barracks :: After the Peace Enforcement officers were re-stationed at the university, the training grounds became a home for the private armies of families of the Marsalles Estates. Although most of the soldiers are human, there are some among them that appear to be of some sort of demon descent. They are frequent visitors to the Lost District, where their presence is unwelcomed by the community.

[ x ] Vision Tower :: Sehket rules the city from Vision Tower, which erected itself mysteriously one night after his Awakening. This formidable structure lacks doors and windows and no human has seen its interior or the residents within. Those people who have been deemed the worst traitors by Peace Enforcement officers are taken here.

[ x ] The Velvet Room, Trish's Fountain, and the fortune teller's shop only appear when they are needed by the right person.
[ x ] These shops do not exist in a permanent, physical location in this world. One day, the Velvet Room may be located in the Lost District and the next day, it could be found in the harbor area.
[ x ] These shops can also appear randomly inside other buildings. One day, your attic door may lead you into Trish's Fountain, but only if the master of the shop wishes it to be so.
[ x ] The game master will determine when a shop location will be revealed to your character. (Thus, DO NOT do something in the roleplay like, "My character wanted to find the Velvet Room, so he found it in Rumwell and went in.")
[ x ] Because shops are always concealed and relocating, your character never "consciously" finds the shop. Your character will often be in a daze, lost in thought, or daydreaming, and when they come to, they will realize that they're standing in front of the shop.

[[ _________________ :.: The Fortune Teller's Shop ]

The identity of the fortune teller is unknown. However, her role is to determine the fate of ones chosen by Philemon. After interviewing a person, she allows them to take a Tarot Card, saying that it will lead them to the Velvet Room. Sometimes she will meet people in streets or taverns, not always in a shop.

[[ _________________ :.: Velvet Room ]

The Velvet Room is a place where many mysterious beings reside. These individuals appear human, but they are able to transcend time and space. They admit that they are serving the desires of a higher being named Philemon, and offer their services to those who Philemon selects.

[[ _________________ :.: Trish's Fountain ]

If an Actor is injured, there are only two methods to cure his wounds. The first is to have these injuries tended by another Actor who possesses healing magic (i.e., the spell "Dia"). However, if another Actor is not available with healing magic, then the only method of reviving the Actor is to take him to Trish's Fountain. One drink of the enchanted water will eliminate all injuries and restore the Actor to full health and skill points. However, the fountain is maintained by a greedy fairy named Trish, and she will always ask a high price in exchange for her water.
