I guess I'll get us started. I am still anxiously awaiting the release of the final book in the Dark Tower series. To try and pass the time I am re-reading the series. I finished Drawing of the Three late last night and am now on The Wastelands which I love.

I am also looking foward to the conclusion of The Dark Tower books, which I just pre-ordered from the bookstore last night. I am really upset that I don't live on the East Coast so that I could go to the first book signing King has had since his accident! (If you live in Conneticut, I really think itwould be worth it to go, oh and can I bribe you to get something signed for me? redface )
As far as the books go, my favorite would have to be The Drawing of the Three because of the characture development and interesting plot derived from pulling these people out of their homeworlds/timeframes.
Even though I love Drawing of the Three my favorite ending belongs to Wizard and Glass, not the ending of the story mind you, but the end of the book where they walk merrily off into the sunset. I personally thought it was cute.
So what are your guys' favorite DT books.

I wish I could make it to King’s book signing. I’m on the East Coast, but in Florida so there’s no way I’ll be able to make it to Conneticut. gonk
As far as my favorite DT book, I have a hard time picking because every book is so unique and wonderful on its own. I enjoyed Drawing of the Three because of the introduction to the new characters and the first glimpse at “our world”. I also loved The Wastelands. I thought the way Jake was brought back into the story was great. It was also interesting to see the changes in Susannah and Eddie.
The thing I love most is that none of the characters are stagnant. They continue to develop and change through out all of the books and I think that is one of the reasons I feel so attached to all of them.

I loved the Drawing of the Three. I couldn't put it down! The Gunslinger, I think, was rather confusing to me, but when I read the next book it all started to come together. A friend of mine started with the second, which is fine for her, but I'm glad I read the first. She had to have her boyfriend explain what happened in The Gunslinger for her.
I just finished Wizard and Glass. I started the series this July- my dad had a bunch of Stephen King books in the basement but not the Dark Tower series (except for WaG)- so he had to go out and buy the books we didn't have. He hasn't been able to pick up the next books yet, because I don't think they're in paperback quite yet, and the hardcovers are so expensive.

I think each book in the series each has its own highs and lows (mostly highs). So I have to say I love each book almost equally. Unlike some books or stories that are written over a span or a year or several, the Dark Tower his completely different due to the fact that they were written not in a span of 10 years, but in a span of an entire life - starting at the age of 19.
So each of the first four books have a completely different style and feel to them. Except the last 3, of course, because they were written really as one book.

Madelia He hasn't been able to pick up the next books yet, because I don't think they're in paperback quite yet, and the hardcovers are so expensive. I do believe that I saw Wolves of the Calla in paperback the other day at the bookstore, but I could be mistaken. Now, this is the more expensive tall paperback and not the normal novel-sized papaerback, just so I'm clear. smile Hope that helps. Who are your guys' favorite characters? I love all of them, but I would have to say that honestly Detta is my favorite, she just always makes me laugh. Coming in close second would be Eddie becuase he is so stupid that he is amusing (Madelia, lvoe the sig quote, by the way).

Jake has been one of my favorite characters through all the books. I was incredibly happy when he was brought back into the story and I've really enjoyed seeing his character develop. We've basically seen him go from a scared little kid to a gunslinger. I am very anxious to find out what happens to him in the Dark Tower.

He cracks me up so much... that quote I read at like... 2:00 in the morning and I couldn't stop laughing. And Cuthbert ties because he acts a lot like Eddie, just like Roland always says. heart heart Gotta love the jokers.

Madelia: I really love that quote in your sig. I was really tired when I read that part and I found it hilarious.
Eddie is great. He is always amusing and can seem like "ka-mai" as Roland says, but at the same time he is also very sensitive and sweet.

I "made" a can of Nozz-A-La and took a pic of her with it. She's currently on The Waste Lands and won't hurry up!

I had a question as I was thinking back on reading Wizard and Glass: Does anyone like Susan? I really found her to be somewhat annoying and she seemed like she would have gone with anyone to get away from her aunt. I liked her up until the part where she meets Cuthbert and thought about how she would have been with him instead of Roland if they had met first.

I found Susan a little annoying too. I thought she acted a little too blameless as far as the situation she was in. I know her aunt pushed her, but she didn't have to agree. However, no matter what I thought about her through out the story I still felt what happened in the end was heartbreaking.

I felt bad for the way Susan died in the end, but I didn't really feel bad for her. I felt worse for what her death did to ROland because he thought he had left her to give her a better chance at life, but in truth only sealed her death. When Susan died, I cried, but like I ssaid more for Roland than for her. If Roland hadn't been involved I would have cheered. I really didn't like Susan.
This is off-topic from the Dark Tower, but has anyone noticed that almost every character named Susan that King writes is blond? What's up with that? And they all seem to be clones to some degree of Susan from Wizard and Glass.

Yeah, I agree with you about Susan. It was Roland seeing her death after he thought he was leaving her to have a normal life that really got to me. When she died it was Roland that I felt sympathy for because he blamed himslef for her death and thought he had betrayed her.
I never noticed anything odd about characters named Susan, but now that you mention it I think you're right. Weird.
