Hasani Tau grunted. The sun was hot, having finally reached zenith in the sky, making the lands outside of the Pride lands seem even more desolate and dry. Most of the animals had scurried to shady areas or back underground to their lairs. Hasani, however, was still out an about, panting and huffing in the hot sun. The male lion had been out here for many days, picking his mind for possible ways to be accepted back into his old pride.

Many things had come to his mind that he could do, but none would work well. It was this that set him back. Maybe he should just give up trying to get back home. It seemed that nothing could get him there. Maybe he should just stop and settle down with a nice lioness. Maybe he should stop asking himself maybe.

Hasani sighed and spotted a tree that cast a shadow, a nice place to lie while the sun was at its highest point. He could rest there, get his thoughts together. He had to get out of the sun as his dark colored coat captured the heat and made it very unbearable. He turned to the tree and started to it.

Unknowingly to the lion before the tree it had been previously occupied by another. A lioness, in fact, who would probably go obscured by the male in any case by the native growing, long grass and the strategic idea of being downwind from any larger animals than she. Namely, a seldom agressive but nonetheless existant male lion, a pack of incredibly desperate hyenas, or even the sun for that case. Anyway, she seemed to be safe for the time being. She had only begun to doze off.

The female lioness, called by the shortened name of Najila, was unusual to look at, mainly because of her spots. Her face, hind quarters, and front paws were designed in a distinct grey with randomly placed darker grey spots. The rest of her was a stark white, somewhat dulled by the dirt that was only inevitable to accumulate anyway. She too also sported a girlish mane, not as large as a male's but interesting nonetheless, which fell over her right eye. Speaking of her eyes, they were a soft blue, almost opaque in color. It was not unusal for one to think she be blind as they were so translucent.

OoC; Sorry so short! XD

Hasani tau did not notice the female in the tall grass, nor was he paying much atention to his suroundings. His thoughts were all on his greatest goal, getting home. It was horrible, he realised, that he was obssesed with this notion. But nothing else had presented itself to take over his mind. So home was his destination.

The male lion saw a spot in the grass, as he aproached, that looked flattened. It was then that he saw the grey and white mass that was Najila hidden behind the lush blades. He made a noise of startlement and jumped back. Quickly catching himself, the male steadied, and nodded to her.

"Hello..." He muttered.

((Must get off. Darn mom.))

As you could expect, the lioness did not take his sentiments of being a calm being lightly. The greeting pierced through her as if a gunshot had fired in the distance, her eyes firing open to meet the gaze of the other. At this point she had moved from her laying position to scale the tree, though conceding to the lowest branch that could support her massive weight, an inherited trait of her species. Though she knew the lion could easily do the same, she resumed a defensive stance. Najila wasn't in any condition to fight now.

Her periwinkle eyes shot downward, her hair tousled and out of place as she was somewhat frightened. "And who are you?" she asked to counter his greeting, hoping that he would not simply go after her wishing to pursue a conversation. Most likely she'd bolt, hoping never to see the same lion again.

Not only was Hasani weighed down by his curent thoughts, he was too withdrawn. Life had been dificult to him, and his mind often went to childish actions. This was one of them. He was not one for confrontation. When she moved into her own action, the male lion jumped back, falling over himself and landing roughly on his right hind side.

Hasani took in a sharp breath and the shift and pain. Catching himself again, he sighed and blinked up at her, looking quite patheticly like an over grown frightened cub. In a sense, he was.

"Parden me for my rudeness." He started, though he wasn't sure why he had come off in that way. "I am Hasani Tau. I mean no harm, just a spell to excape the sun's high hour. I beg your parden for interupting your rest, but I had not seen you through the tall grasses."

He did have a sense of curtousy. He never would talk out or bad. He was as kind as he could be, but he was male. So he always had at least one moment when his gender truely showed through. Now was not one of those moments. Hasani was just tired from the heat and travel. He wanted to rest. Nothing else.

"Again," Hasani stood up, streatching out his right hind leg. "I ment no offence."

Though Najilia would not lightly take these words from any other lion, she could see the sincerity in his eyes. It was not enough, however, to persuade her from the chosen perch in the tree. Though any aggressive lion would probably follow her, this one didn't, making her immediately think different of the distinctly childish lion. She was half tempted to ask his age, but by all means it was obvious. He was fully grown indeed, but acted like a cub in most respects... The lioness doubted if he even knew his real age.

"Then lie down if you need rest. I am perfectly comfortable up here, Hasani Tau. I know the sun is scorching at this hour.. Most creatures look for shelter at this time," the lioness managed to say between breaths, still quite surprised of his sudden appearance and greeting. "My name is Najila'Kamaria, but you can call me Najila if it's easier for you."

The lioness almost smirked as she had unknowingly injured his hind leg, and almost apologized for it. What was she doing?

Convinced that she would not try and thrash at him again or make more awkward positions for him to climb out of, Hasani Tau layed down in the shade. He was so hot, and his coat felt like fire from the sun. The shade felt so nice... so nice despite it was only a few degrees difference then from out in the sun.

Hasani Tau kept his eyes down on the ground for quite a while, figuring it would be easier not to give any more attention to the female. But that would be rude. He did not like to be rude. WIth a heavy sigh he turned panting to Najila in the tree.

"Najila, yes. I think that is easier for me to remember." He started, then paused. Nothing else was there to talk about. He was just there, she was just there. The sun was too hot. He just kept panting and shaking his mane to let out the heat that was contained in its locks. He looked up again to speek.

"I am truely sorry for startling you. I just.. well, I just didn't see you. Rather, I was careless for not looking if this tree was being acupied." Hasani had to shake his made again, "I am not used to others, you see. I have enough manners and knowledge to be carefull and curtious to those I meet, though, as you might tell. I had to learn all my manners the hard way, though, through a few bad encounters with others. I don't think it is well to fight. So please, pardon me once again. I am just heavy with thoughts, and it was my carelessness that caused this."

(hehe, he is so succinct. <3)

"Though your manners might as well be legendary, you have to learn not to apologize so much. Doing to so is a repetitive act that will only be met with more defiance, therefore making more trouble on your part," Najila muttered from her perch, somewhat bored with the conversation already. She was used to this feeling, however, though the feeling of actually speaking to someone was a relief. Most lions desired not to speak with her and if she pursued the idea of agressive force would be dealt, and lionesses dubbed her too odd or wise for her own good. Maybe that's why she wasn't in a pride. Had this lion too encountered the same problem, but for what reason? Was it because of his annoying problem with apologizing constantly, or some other reason she did not know?

Lost in her own thoughts and assumtions for a moment the spotted lioness looked to the horizon. Her eyes squinted as the contrast hurt her delicate eyes, though she payed little to no attention as this mild irritance struck her. Should she ask? It would be rather offensive to do so, not actually sure whether or not the inquiry would rub the addressed Hasani Tau the wrong way. She thought for another moment. She did have an escape route planned, so why not try?

"Excuse me," she spoke again, looking down at the dark lion before her, "I've travelled far and have seen only a few rouge lions. Most of them seemed driven out as they commited a crime that was forbidden. At least, that's what I've gathered since I've been out in the world. Enlighten me with a different reason?"

Hasani sighed and lowered his head. He was reluctant, but she did ask, and it would be rude not to tell her. SHifting his gaze back up he comenced in telling her his tale.

"Its very sad, actualy." He let out, picking his words carefully. "You see, the pride that I was born into was strick in who was accepted. Their standard was only those with stong animal based markings. And, as you can see, I was born without a prey mark on my hide." he paused here, looking back at his coat as if he would find some stripes, or marks, or anything. He saw only his black-grey coloration. His atention was drawn back to her. "Do not think my old pride crewl, for they were only folowing tradition. But they did not stop traditions for a new born like I had been. I was brought outside of our pridelands and left to die, scurry off to be killed, or find a way to survive... I found away. And I live now with the hope of finding my sister, who was the only one rather then my mother who objected to my outcastment.

And as to my habit of appoligising, I am sad to say I ask you to forgive me for that. Habits die hard when they are the only thing you can count on when by yourself. I have had to learn how to hunt by grovling, learn to find places to rest by the same manner. It is the way I survived, as pittiful as it sounds. I do not intead to be this way for much longer... I hope." And now he stoped, having fully discusted himself with his life. How could one such as himself live on from since he was young as a coawrd and as one who wished nothing but to return to a pride that detested him for his coat? The mind was a mystery. He had no answers to give himself.

"Well, Hasani Tau, you don't have to have special markings to make yourself accepted. If one just looks for acceptance in life, no one would be anywhere. We'd all be wandering about, like you and me, though with all the same purpose. No one would be situated anywhere, nor would there be any order within the system. No prides, no new cubs, no nothing. Just blind animals looking to be accepted into something else that does not exist," the lioness explained, looking down sympathetically at the lion below her. "I don't expect you to know all of this, you are still a child at heart. But your story and my own heart persuades me that you look for nothing but acceptance, and that will be your one and only flaw."

Here Najila jumped from the branch, landing gracefully on her feet as she did so. "Your story is sad, yes, but no lion or lioness ever was sincerely happy once they were in a community of a pride. Everyone desires more, yes, but that is how our minds are manufactured. You wish to have a family, someone who truely loves you for who you are and not your markings or how you act... But how many people like that are in the world, Hasani Tau? Not many. It's give or take in this land. But if it's a friend that you desire so much, well..."

She looked towards him, a smirk gracing her grey face.

"Your words are so true. I do strive for acceptance. But my soul does not care really what kind of acceptance it is. And you are even true of my child heart, though it is not something I openly admit all the time. I never really had my cubhood." He seemed sad at that, but smiled when she came down from her perch. She was very pretty...

"Friends... I have had little. My last true friend was another lost cub that was found.. and left me lost. He had been young, and did not bother to stay lost any longer then he needed. But I would love another friend, yes. Are you asking?" A child-like answer, what could you expect? He stayed down in the grass, still panting. He added, with little expression in his face. "A good friend could satisfy my longings." Then he sighed as if expecting her to not accept.
PostPosted: Wed May 03, 2006 9:14 pm

"Then I guess you should consider your longings to be no more, Hasani Tau. You're one of a kind when it comes to males, though there has been only a handful whom I have met personally. It was I who offered in the first place, lion, and unfortunately it seems it is only me who seems to understand your morals and high strivings," Najila yawned, idly scratching her ear with her hind leg.

"Besides, you're too childish to be out on your own and too strong to have gone this far without being killed. That alone is enough, my friend. And in fact I have not have enough friends in my lifetime at all... I am too scared, too skiddish to the fact that I might be hurt or mortally wounded by another lion or lioness for accidently striding into an agressive territory. But you witnessed that for yourself, did you not?"

"I did, friend." He said, trying out the tittle. "But you do have your reasons, just as I. Of course, I will not be doing any attacking. I have only had to do that once," He shook out his mane, "And I did not like it at all. I was still very young then. I still am young at heart, as you say. It is too true... I thank you for your words, it makes me feel happy to have a new friend with me."

Hasani paused and streached out his front legs before sitting up on his hind. He seemed to be contemplating something or other, calculating in his head. A friend would be wonderful. She was nice too, understood him it seemed. He was glad she had offered, seen him as almost a child. Maybe it was time he grew up...

"... I do not know where I am going next," He started again. "I wish to return to my sister, as I have told you. But I am not yet ready to find her. Where were you headed? And may I have the pleasure of coming with?"
PostPosted: Thu May 04, 2006 5:05 pm

"I'm a wanderer, Hasani Tau. I go where I please. You'd be surprised how large this world really is, once you realize that when you start you don't pass the same road twice. I never had a pride to be a part of. My mother was a rouge as well, but passed unfortunately during my adolecenthood. She tried to push me away for years, telling me that it would be extremely more safe for her and me if I get out on my own for a while as male lions enjoy to take their anger on young cubs. Constantly did she try to abandon me out of love alone, but my heart could not bear the idea of leaving her to die of starvation. There came a time where I had to hunt for her, but as such she was only a shell of once was. I remember her to be beautiful, white with unusual eyes like myself," Najila sighed, shaking her head slightly with doing so. "But that's not exactly important. That was a long time ago, and I have more things to worry about rather than to be wrapped up about my old mother's death."

Pausing to stretch her tensed muscles she spoke again, this time not about her past, but his comment about a sister. "If you have not found her now, it'd be unlikely that you ever would. Finding lost siblings is not as easy as one would make it sound to be. As I said, it's a large world. She might've already settled down with a family and have cubs of her own. But I ramble."

"I see, I see.." Hasani replyed, standing for a brief second, then sitting again. He became quiet when she did, wondering if he should talk now, or she. He was slightly relieved when she spoke up again.

"Yes. I have thought of that too. But I know my sister well. She will not go far from the Elephant graveyards. If what I have heard is true, she is still there: the Queen of a pride. And I do not doubt that she has had cubs... But that is not the reason I have searched so long. I have lived up till only a few moon phases ago wanting, but not trying to go home to her. Now I have made up my mind and have only recently started my journey back to the Elephant Graveyards. I was... scared up till now." He ended this with soft words, keeping them quiet so she had to bend to catch the last part. In his teal eyes were refelctions of shame, shame that he did not try earlier to find his family...
