Domri's mouth drops open. "Are you suggesting that we go outside?" he looks at her increduously and points out the window at the raging storm. "And trek across Hyrule Feild, at night, when all those skeleton beasts would probably kill us," he looks stupified.

Lya rolls her eyes playfully. "Maybe."

He puts his head in hands "I just hiked all the way over here. On foot. Are you even listening to what I'm saying?"

She is smiling furtively. "I have my ways."

"I need to meet up with the running man and give him a clothing design, anyhow." Lya says. "I know where his secret cottage is in Kakariko. I'm not waiting, you can come if you want."

Lya finds a coat and puts it on, sticking the matches in her pocket and untying her hair. She opens the door, and smiles back at Domri as she walkes out.

He's a cutie, Lya thinks to herself, as she pauses a few seconds to wait for Domri to come along. It's a shame that I'm only fifteen.

Domri slips on his red cloak. "Please tell me you weren't just messing with me, because if I get soaked again, I'll still be damp when they bury me," he says, sounding more worried than joking.

Lya grins "Well, I'm not lying to you as long as you're not lying to me."

He chuckles "I guess I can say goodbye to the prospect of ever being dry again," he teases her good-naturedly. She laughs as well, but her eyes search him for some sign of dishonesty. He shifts uncomfortably from one foot to the other.

For a while, Lya and Domri walk in silence. The night seems to slip from their minds. Lya pulls out a match, and twirls it in a circle. The rain stops quickly.

Suddenly, Lya gets very cold. "Uh oh..."

Domri looks at her, puzzled.

"There's something wrong."

"You mean beside the rain and the skeletons and all that?"

"Uh, yeah. Very much beside. Come on, we have to hurry."

Lya sprints across the field. She doesn't know where she's going; she doesn't care. Her gut instinct seems off track, but she listens to it anyway.

The ground starts to shake, and white bony hands poke up from the it. Lya tries hard to dodge them one by one, and finds herself making way to the castle town. "Where am I going?" She asks herself aloud. Suddenly, a full skeletal body jumps out in front of her and swipes a bony club at her.

"Domri, I need some assistance over here..." She mutters very quickly, but loud enough so that he can hear.

Lya, though worried sick, smiles a tad, and looks at Domri.

"Thanks." She says, putting her hair behind her ear. "I'm a wimp, just for the records."

Suddenly, her expression changes, and she says, "Come on, we have to go." For some reason, however, she can't move, and her feet stay rooted to the ground. "I can't move."

Lya can feel a tear fall from her eye. She looks away to hide it. Another skeleton hand appears coming through the ground, and Domri pulls Lya up against her will.

"We have to go, I can't risk you getting attacked."

Lya looks to her left. The stairway to Kakariko village is very close to them.

"We'll stay in Kakariko for the night, and we'll go to the castle town by morning." Domri says, glancing in the same direction as Lya. "Can you move yet?"

Lya nods slowly, blinking hard to stop the tears. She doesn't know why she's crying. "We can stay with the running man."

Domri nods slowly. "I have a visit to make."

Lya takes Domri's hand and he gently pulls her up. She keeps her eyes focused on the ground, as if its the only thing hold her up. He opens his mouth to say something to her, but decides against it. He stops at the bottom of the steps, feeling strangely obligated to let her lead. She acknowledges him as she passes, in a detached nod. They climb the steps slowly and wearily, their feet falling into an awkward unison. Right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot. Had it been anyone else, Domri would have broken the pattern with a extra step. But the unison seems important, like the sound of his footsteps in time with hers is the only thing keeping her from losing her balance, and falling down the stairs. The image of her sprawled like the skeleton thing, her head twisted back, her mouth open in surprise, makes him feel sick to his stomach.

Once Lya reaches the top of the steps, she looks around. The last time she was here was almost six months ago. It takes her a few minutes to get used to the village, and then everything starts to become familiar. The wind picks up, and the grass sways to the north. Lya strides slowly and gently toward the very back of the village. Along the cliff, she pats her hand until she comes across a button.

She pushes it and nothing happens. Her stomach lurches again.

Domri follows her, feeling a little bewildered. The sights and sounds seem to rush by them, even though he knows they're walking slowly. Lya stops at a cliff, and feels around until a look that is both casual and filled with relief passes over her face. Just a moment later the expression twists into uneasiness and anxiety. She opens her mouth as if to ask a question but nothing comes out.
