Seeing as I just beat the game today I have a few things I would like to say to Nintendo. Why can't the rest of the Metroid games go on with some of these characteristics? First off from now on instead of letting Samus lose all of her powers, which I get very sick of, let her just start small like in this one and then gain some more throughout the game. I absolutely HATE having to destroy a place in the beginning of a Metroid only to have my powers that I JUST used to blow it up (or whatever she does) taken away. I also like having to fend off the different hunters as I travel the worlds. They add a bit of spice to the same old monotony that is beginning to tire this once lustrous franchise. The game looks gorgeous on these two screens and is probably the best looking DS game I've played so far. The music is the same as the rest of the Prime series. The game is short on the single player mode with a few planets to romp about in and find your missile upgrades, health packs, and search for the octoliths (The items that the game is all based upon). Where you'll be spending most of your time though is the online. This is where the game truly shines the most. I have gotten some time to dabble around in each mode and each of them is well suited for 2-4 players. Logging on and finding friends is made a bit tiresome due to the interface that Nintendo has chosen to use (Friend Codes). It does have microphone accesibility which is a nice feature talking to your friends, but they could have tried a bit and put it in during gameplay instead of only talking to people while you are waiting for the next match. Also, you can only talk to your friends which bugged me a bit too. I love me some Metroid and now that it's on my DS you probably won't see as much of me.
Music: Metroid sounds and tastes that you heard on the GC just minituarized.
Gameplay: Same 'ol, same 'ol. You probably know what to expect from this 2D platformer gone 3D by now. Add in a few extra characters, shorter single player, and a nice online bit and you have Hunters.
Graphics: HO'SNAP! Just about the greatest thing about this game. If only we had N64 games that had looked this great then we'd probably have life like graphics in our games by now.
Overall: I have to say that I had fun in this game. Although it was short the online factor makes up for it and you'll have fun blasting your friends from every corner of the earth. Plenty of fun for all ages and if this is your first Metroid game then I would say that you wouldn't be disappointed.
