Ares moved through the country mansion at an easy pace, hands clasped behind his back and gaze slightly tilted up, not watching which way he was going. His left ear flicked a little as a breeze fluttered by and he paused in his step, looking around carefully. He scratched the back of his neck as he peered into the room, thinking that perhaps a few windows were open in here. That was what could cause the breeze, after all.
It was an elegant (though everything in this place usually looked so!) looking library, one that Ares hadn't ever stepped foot in. One hand moved to rub the back of his neck, still standing in the doorway. He was thinking of perhaps going in, but he did not think it would serve any purpose. Where had all the fun gone? He huffed slightly, leaning against the frame of the door. He wasn't so much looking into the room now as he was staring off into space.

Jiran was in the library, reading everything he could get his hands on, a favorite pastime of his. His tail swished around lazily as he moved from the window seat to the floor in one languid feline slide, searching out his next read. "Hmmm, where did I see that History of Scottish Battles? Was it next to the French Love Poems?" His ear twitched as he looked up at the soft breath of sound, looking shyly at the newcomer. "Oh, hello, were you looking for something to read?"

His dark eyes unglazed and shot quickly to the voice that was addressing him. His eyes traveling over the blue, black and white form. He smirked slightly, shifting and moving into the actual room. "Not really." He stated, his voice a little gruff and holding hints of a mischieviousness. "I haven't read in ages." He continued on, flashing a playful grin before stopping slightly into the room. He did a slow spin, looking around. After he was finished he whistled through his teeth. "Quite a place though, if you do like reading."
He eyed the younger (or so he assumed younger) male a moment longer. "Looking for some fun?" He gave a devilish grin, his hand slipping into a hidden, conveniant, pocket of his kilt (<~ i think?) and when he held out what he was searching for it revealed a set of three plain dice. This boy didn't look like a gambler at all, but Ares would take his chance. There was next to no one wandering the halls, so he was lucky to bump into a stranger. And if he could get him to play a few games, that would be even better.

Light blue eyes observed the darker male, nodding at him. "Yes, the Club's library has just about anything you could ever wish for in reading material." He was still on the floor, stretched out now and his tail swaying. This man had an opposing appearance but he seemed nice so far....
His kitty curisoity was ignited when he was asked for fun and his eyes trailed after his hand, blinking owlishly at the dice he pulled out. "Dice? What kind of fun can you have with dice?" He said it innocently, having never gambled before in his life.

Ares snorted and then laughed at the other's question. It amused him that so few had actually expeirenced the wonders and thrills of dice! He sat slowly on the ground, arranging himself carefully. It was a good thing that the little tiger had caught him in good spirits, else he might not seem so nice.
"Tons a' fun, if you know the right games." He paused and then grinned. "And are willing to make the right stakes." He shrugged a little and let the dice drop to the ground, each one rolling to a stop. "Two of my favorite games are Celo and Royal Court, though. For the latter I'd need three more dice. So it's pointless. Interested in playing? Or are your books more important right now?" His eyebrows shot up slightly, he didn't... quite mean the comment to be mean. But he was trying to persuade the other.

Jiran crept closer, ears swivelling back and forth as he tried to get closer to the dice. Looking up at the ram and then back down again, he soaked in his words. "So....How do we play? I don't have a lot of money, just my pocket money for the month, if that's all right with you." He looked down at the dice again. "I've never heard of those games before......So I guess playing a bit couldn't do much harm, right?"
Lethrossen
The ram grinned a little, he was a bit cocky when it came to gambling. It wasn't because he was lucky all of the time, even. But he did have his fair share of good throws in dice. "Simple, we bet whatever amount we'd like and then we roll the rice. A combo of 1, 2, 3 gets you an automatic loss, unless the other player rolls the same." In which case it was just a draw and they threw the dice again, but Ares didn't say this because he thought it very obvious. To someone who didn't play dice ever? Maybe not.
"A 4,5,6 combo gets you a win automatically. Now, when you don't throw either of those it's like this." He took a deep breath, obviously he wasn't used to explaining rules. "The dice are thrown and who ever gets the highest total wins. You game?" He raised his brows.

He had crept in closer while Ares explained the game to him, drawn in like any good curious kitty would be. He tilted his head to one side, hair falling over his shoulder as he finally nodded. "I think so....So um, we bet for money, right?" He withdrew the money he had on him, not much considering he had just bought a stack of books and some CD's and a new pair of ice skates with his allowance already.

He nodded slowly. "Aye, though we don't have to bet anything too high." He murmered, watching the younger male. His hand fished back into his pocket, and he brought out a small fold-up of bills. He didn't carry a lot on him, unless he knew it'd be a big gambling night. "You know, two or three dollars a throw." He smirked a little, right are flickering as he glanced to the door.
He placed three crinkled bills on the ground. "I'll even go first, if you'd like." And he scooped up the dice, shook them a few times in his large hands and let them tumble to the ground.

"Oh good...." He put down his own bet, feeling brave enough to put down three bills of his own. His much smaller hand reached for the dice and he shook them a few times as well, looking up at Ares. "Your hands are really warm...I mean, the dice are really warm." A small flush of pink went across his pale face as he threw the dice on the floor between them.

He grunted as he spotted his own dice numbers. A one, a three and a two. The losing combo? What the hell was this! His good mood started to slip a little, it was very rare he lost on the first throw. I mean, gambling wouldn't be fun if you won on the first throw.
At the other's words though he just began to laugh, mostly at the pink glowing in the white cheeks. "Eh? Probably. Thanks, I think." He murmered, smirking devilishly. Most of the time his hands were clasped together, buried in pockets or balled into fists. Thus the reason they were often warm.
As he spotted the other's dice numbers he huffed slightly. "Well, you might have gotten luck this time, but..." With that he trailed off, gesturing for him to take the bills. He placed out two new ones, for the second bet. Scooping them up he let them fall again.
"Anyways, what types of books are you reading?" he said, slowly. He wasn't particularly interested in books, but he figured some form of conversation was good.

"Oooh, I won!" He clapped his hands excitedly, tail flicking back and forth in happiness, eyes bright. "I've never won anything before!" He looked at him with glowing eyes, the flush still on the bridge of his nose. "Is this what they mean by beginner's luck? Or maybe it's because your luck was still on them, since they were still warm?"
He took the bills, leaving some there for his next bet. Watching him throw, he looked up at his question. "Me? Well, I like to read just about anything. Poetry, classical literature, fiction, histories, whatever catches my fancy really. I was in the middle of looking for a book on Scottish battles when you came in though. Can't seem to find it though I know I saw it when I was looking for Shakespeare's sonnets."

Wait, twice in a row? Ares growled slightly and mumbled under his breath, taking out a few more bills. "Yeah, s'what they call beginner's luck." And he was secretly hoping this cat's luck would run out! Though that blushing was rather adorable...
His ears flickered a little as he let himself lounge back, laying propped up on one elbow. "Scottish battles, eh? Sounds interesting. Now that is a book I could probably read, a battling book." Or a book on gambling, cards.. dice, darts.. anything, really. "Too bad you can't find it, I'd rather like a look at a book like that."
His voice was letting the hints of his annoyance at losing slip through, but it was nothing against the other. You couldn't blame him for having luck, could you? He rolled again. "By the way, I'm Ares." He stated, eyes lingering on the large, blue ones not too far away from him.

He clapped again, getting into the swing of things. "Oh, I see why you like doing this so much! It's rather exciting when you win, isn't it?" He took the money rather absently, his tail swishing as he eyed the dice again.
"Umm, maybe after we play, you could help me find it and we could read it...together?" He blushed furiously, looking mortified that he'd said something so bold. Maybe Shardul was rubbing off on him? His ear flicked as he sensed the change in tone and he looked up at Ares in puzzlement. Was he not feeling well? "Oh, I'm Jiran!" He found he couldn't help but stare into the gaze of the ram before looking down in nervousness and rolling the dice quickly, his hands shaking slightly.

"Mmmm, yeah it is a lot more enjoyable when you win." And it was okay to lose, as long as you weren't a sore loser. Ares wasn't one of those hard core sore losers, but losing did get on his nerves. And he did get mad after losing a few times in a row, which was probably coming soon. "Well Jiran," He let the name roll off his tongue, deciding he like the sound of it. "I think you'll be taking me out of my money if you keep this up." Yes, see. Joke about losing. That's what non-sore losers did, right? He took a deep breath.
At the others offer though he grinned. "Sounds like a good idea. So do you always blush that often, or am I just that charming?" He gave a wicked smile at this, placing his bet and then rolling the dice.

His eyes were wide as he watched Ares. "Did you want to gamble for something other than money? I don't want to take all of your cash from you....Tha wouldn't be very nice after we just met and you taught me this game."
His flush exploded across his face at Ares' suggestive words. "Um, um, um.....I blush over certain things...ah, not to say you aren't charming...or....Um, I'm making this worse, aren't I?" He gave him a slightly hopeless look before he just took up the dice and started shaking them, rolling them onto the floor, hoping for a diversion of some sort.

Ares' eyes lit up in amusement at the other's words, and he grinned slowly. "What do you suggest we use, Jiran?" He smirked a little, his mind automatically going to clothing items. Though he might be naked too quickly for that to be any fine, not that he minded being unclothed.
At the stuttering answer Ares started to laugh, sitting up after a moment, when his laugh calmed he snorted. "Bloody hell, you're a lucky b*****d." His words were almost envious, he was curious as to where his luck had fled tonight. "Did you switch the dice when I wasn't looking?" He said, his voice dangerously quiet and he leaned rather close to the other, but he was kidding. Unless this kids lack of knowledge for this game was all some facade to win, of course.
After a moment, his face still close to Jiran's, he grinned. He was just making sure the other knew he was joking, he didn't want him getting too upset. But he was having fun seeing him blush so much.
Edit: he placed out two more bills, his stack running thin. He scooped up the dice and rolled longer, hoping he'd get lucky at least once tonight. At the thought he began to laugh, his mind a bit perverted. He let the dice fall, eyes eagerly awaiting them to stop spinning.
